Even though this tutorial is several years old, it's still totally usable and works great. Thanks, Marty, for creating this tutorial that is not overly complicated.
Great video. Came across somebody's instagram where they keep making claims about not using makeup. As a photographer, not as somebody putting up pictures of themselves. Retouching is something I already knew he did, but seeing how this plain photo was done makes the claims of greatness crumble even more.
You, sir, are officially my favorite person of the day! Thanks for breaking it down for people like me who aren’t already Photoshop and Mac wizards. Fantastic tutorial! New subscriber 😁
Hello, i'm using cc 2017 and the actions you are doing in 2:40 is not working for me. i tried to put the surface blur all the way up to see if the directions at 2:40 will take the blur out of the eyes and lips but it is not working. please help thanks!
Awesome tutorial. I had just one thought you could mention. When you go to the alpha channel created and use the brush to bring back the eye brows, eyes, lips etc. Make sure to turn your brush to the color black and not white. By default, seems to stay white. If you don't then you are just brushing white over white. I know it may be obvious to many, but just thought I'd put it out there. Thank you again.
I've been trying to find someone who can explain this in a real simple terms thank you finally someone that doesn't go flying over it as if I already knew. Nice teaching pace thank you again.
I started watching and learning from your video 7 years ago when I was 14 and at that time I had no basic at all regarding of Photoshop. I'm 23 now and the knowledge and skills I gained from your videos really helped me a lot during my study years from school to university. Although my course had no relation with designing but people around me praised my photoshop skills haha but it's all thanks to your guidance and patience to explain it one by one!
Excellent Video..! informative, useful and helpful to everyone clear explanation, thank you Sir for sharing you videos keep safe and healthy, God bless and more power.. I'll try my best so that i can do it thank you Sir 🥰🙏🙏🙏
Wow, thank you so much. I realize that if you've used photoshop but are not used to using new tools, you MUST find a tutorial that is updated due to the updates of the program. I was trying to follow along with a program that was posted in a video in 2011. That didn't work for me then I searched 2015 tutorials and of course I didn't notice until the very end that we were using the exact same version of photoshop. This was super helpful.
2:15 my brush wouldnt remove the smoothness from the parts i marked with the brush why? i couldnt see a my "face mask" on the right lose holes i did the same steps until 3:00 im using CS6
Hi Marty.seriously this video was really helpful. And the way you are describing everything really nice and slow is also amazing. thanks for your help and support.
I have been using a popular software for retouching our portrait clients. I really like your method using Photoshop. Even though it's a little more work it seems to be more precise. Good work on the video!
I use Photoshop since 5.0 version, 20 years ago. I subscribed to your channel and I like watching your videos just because it's like remembering a tale from childhood. Also, there are some new techniques I see, other methods of doing stuff. Keep doing these videos. :)

Great video. Thanks. What's the version of photoshop used in this tutorial? I have CS3 (cracked) version, but the features are not there in my version. Pls help me with a download link if you can.
+wcthrill The method i this tutorial is a quick way to smooth skin, whereas, frequency separation is much more refined. I'll be doing a tut on frequency separation soon.

Perfect just like i learned 9 years ago! Photoshop doesnt change a bit whether 7.0 or CS6!!
it didnt work for me, when erasing the extra blur, I selected the brush but it didnt work
Very clear explanation!
But I needed to add some levels to adjust the lighting
I'm not good yet but thanks for showing all these and I keep learning more...
Please what were you editing on, was it on Microsoft? And do you if one can use a dell laptop to do this editing. Please and thank you.
I use Windows 10 on a Lenovo desktop. My editing software is Camtasia.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thank you for the information, do appreciate
Can I use another desktop, or must it be Lenovo?
My photo is stuck on how it looked at 1:31, how do I get the background back you didn’t explain
If I already did a picture of it had to do the lighting, I can still make another layer and try to smooth out any blemishes in the face, right
Yes.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Cool! I just did a edit with some lighting a few moments ago so I’ll go back and do the blemishes
It works... Thank you... ☺️
