Synopsis: World War II is raging. A plucky, young war widow from Liverpool leaves the strife of her parents' house to make her own way. She takes her two small boys and finds a position as cook for a retired Colonel and his wife. Will this be the home she's looking for? Can she escape the damage that the war has caused?
Though accents are spot on, I’m surprised the family saying “Bye” in the leaving the house & home in Liverpool scene, instead of “ta ra”, which would be more likely, tended to undermine the authors object of authenticity.
Reminds me of the old days , at the end of the war, Rabbit stew was always on table, me and Father poached at night, we had a 4.10 foldaway shot gun, hidden in a side pocket. Good day's, .
Sober and depressing "slice of life" story. Lots of great characters and acting but sad, fatalistic storyline. Just and FYI for others who may not be in the mood for such things. I'm sure it would be really interesting to many but it left me really unsettled.
Hi i enjoyed this as a scouser the accents wernt brilliant but didn't detract at all from the play. It was a hard life during and after the war not that I'd no i wasn't born til 68'.

I grew up with practically nothing extra, but life wasn't like that. It's amazing, what a decent man as a father can do.
So well done. The heartbreak of war. The horrors of alcoholism. The frustrations of a class society. The deep loneliness of the human condition.
