If Chris Jones gets 14.5 sacks this season he’ll be #2 for most career sacks in Chiefs history! Behind the one and only DT! That’s legendary!

A backfield with Steele and Pacheco harkens back to a Alstott and Dunn era. I'm all for that. It would take significant pressure off of Mahomes and provide the team with the physicality to pound the ball while also stretching the field with the speed at WR. Clock management, especially late in the game, would be HUGE and not all up to the arm and creativity of Mahomes.

Agree to the first. Disagree to the 2nd. The holdout had nothing to do with Frank Clark. If he really, really wanted Frank Clark on the team, he could negotiate a smaller contract, allowing the Chiefs the cap room to bring him in. I never heard a word about anything like that. That's what I'd do if I were a player and really wanted a guy.

What do we think of Carson Steele on the roster?
Well, he’s been on my projected roster for a long time. Absent a free agent signing, I’m pretty comfortable with this projection. Whether he remains in my projection depends almost entirely on his growth as a pass blocker, a skill very likely within his reach. To a lesser degree, ball security is also something to watch.
Andy Reid likes fullbacks. Why? Or, more importantly, why would Reid like Steele?
Rushing: As a runner he averaged 5.1 yards per attempt (YPA) at UCLA. Taken alone, that’s only middle of the pack among college runners with at least 150 attempts. However, for most the YPA is padded by a good number of breakaway runs (15+ yards). Steele has approximately half the breakaways of most in the list, something that’s less common in the NFL anyway. For a runner in the modern NFL era, frequency of success is far more important than average. His consistency of 4+ yards was among the best. What that means is, if handed the ball, even on an early down, Steele is among the best at keeping his team ahead of the chains. During college Steele ranked among the best at yards after contact, which portends well for short yardage circumstances. He’s also surprisingly elusive, ranking in the top third.
Speed: Steele is not fast, not even for a fullback. With a 4.75 forty he will get caught from behind by most defenders, even some big linemen. Nobody should expect breakaway runs. Again, the important statistic is frequency of success not average.
Receiving: Steele has good hands, better than most wide receivers. Throughout his college career, of 59 passes that should have been caught he dropped only 1. It shouldn’t be taken for granted that a pass behind the line of scrimmage, the majority of a back’s receiving work, is an automatic reception. Turning and catching is something many backs struggle to do. Steele ranked in the top third in yards after catch per reception, again, based on consistency without benefit of substantial breakaway yards.
Ball security: Steele had 8 fumbles on 716 touches during his college career. That’s not bad but could stand improvement.
I like Carson Steele and believe he has an excellent chance of making the final roster.

Mixed feelings on the Shark. On one side, I really liked him as a player and even got a #55 Super Bowl jersey. On the other side, he's regressed significantly over the past couple years and isn't nearly the same player he once was. Like your idea of a possible Practice Squad player to be used as a break glass in case of emergency type situation :)

Yeah, so, they won a championship without. But doesn't mean they didn't or shouldn't fix things that were weaknesses last season. KC can't bury their heads and ignore those weaknesses for the upcoming season. There were a few additional areas, but most glaring holes were at WR and short yardage situations. Obviously they did some work to fix the Wr room with Brown and Worthy. If Rice isn't suspended this season that will be a plus. A pass catching fullback would be a step in the right direction to help fix the short yardage as well as signing Wentz for sneaks. Will be interesting to see who makes the 53.

Carson Steele is probably more of a practice squad player who could help out defense against division rivals like Denver chargers raiders teams that like to play old school football and use fullback and play run heavy play action offense... Harbaugh will definitely use fullback Sean Payton I could see the raiders doing it too... There's so much strategy that goes into who they sign and why it's not always the guys who start on Sundays that make the team good it's the guys who we practice against that get us playoff ready... If your Mahomes and you gotta throw against sneed and McDuffie everyday in practice... What defense in the NFL is gonna scare you?? This team is deeper than any other team in the NFL it's gonna come down to execution... And at the end of the day we have the grim reaper and they don't... These next 3-4 years are gonna be a blast...
Keep doing your thing cole... Your the only chiefs channel worth watching... Keep up the good work... We're about to make NFL HISTORY 3 IN A ROW
NEVER BEEN DONE.... EVEN BRADY AND GRONK COULDN'T DO IT .. THIS TEAM HAS A CHANCE TO BE THE GREATEST DYNASTY IN NFL HISTORY.... AND I DONT THINK WE'RE GONNA MISS OUR SHOT... can't wait to see that new punter banging 60 yr old I mean 60 yard punts down at the 1... All this reciever talk about Xavier rice skyy Kelce hardman toney... Makes me feel like j watt gonna have some more sneaky big catches... Everybody forgets about j watt because he just goes out there and does his job... The key is how well wanye does at left tackle if he's as nasty as tre Smith is... We gonna be blowing some ppl out... Pacheco might get his 1st 1k yard season... Remember those old eagle teams w shady McCoy Andy will run the ball too... Coach Reid offense is like Burger King .. u can have it your way AFC West any way u want it...we're built to play any style.... Coach Reid stays one step ahead.... I can't wait... We owe the broncos and the raiders... And I highly doubt coach harbaugh is gonna recreate what he had in San Francisco... He's gonna need a few drafts to build that team... He's gonna try the ball control...control the clock time of possession etc... it might work once in awhile if we have an off week... But we literally have wr that can torch man defense if u try to zone us Mahomes Kelce rice Watson and literally anyone else we throw out there is gonna pick you apart... Or Pacheco just gash you for 20 yards... Most flagged players on offense and defense last yr and we still pulled it off... What's the excuse gonna be this year...when will they all just admit we're the best... God answers prayers....
    He blessed our city....
Let's just keep praying for our city... No more violence...
✝️ I hope we do something special week 1 for the family of the woman who lost her life... My dad has been listening to her radio show forever he was so bummed out after the parade... The kingdom needs to come together and pray this evil out of our city... I'm excited for next season too but let's not forget those ppl we lost last year.... We're all family here... I know the hunt family won't let her be forgotten... We have to keep praying because sometimes the evil in this world will try to ruin good things...
God is real and God is love...it's not about religion it's about what's right and who we are as a city...

There's no way CJ is going to double his average sacks this year. I'd love for him to prove me wrong though. And dude, let Frank go. Now LFG.

I have no problem with cj95 missing or taking off from camp, here and there. TC is overrated for big men, unless there's a position battle.

The role you describe for Steele sounds exactly like the one currently occupied by CEH. Sounds like Andy preparing for a time in the future without CEH either due to injury or retirement.

I think Frank's a possibility if they don't like what they're seeing in camp from the young guys. I think they could sign him to a 1-year deal pretty cheap. But you'd have to kick the tires. See how well he's moving and what his overall health situation is. I think he'd be an above-average rotational player, if he's got his legs under him.
@streetrodder06, below, said that he'd make sense as a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency player. I can see that, but not as a practice squad player. If he's good enough to be that kind of guy, he's good enough to be in the rotation, because he's a highly skilled and unselfish player who's willing to do the dirty work to help other guys make plays. As such, he's probably worth more to Spagnuolo than he would be to other defensive coordinators. As long as he's still got that 2-gapping skill, he's a very good contain player, like Mike Danna, only longer and more likely to win the 1-on-1 decisively (now and again).
FAU was pretty raw, last year. BJ Thompson did nothing last year, and this year he had a heart attack. Herring's a big, strong, Vaughn Booker kind of DE. Karlaftis is a legit starter. They can kick Jones, outside, and have him do a Neil Smith imitation. He's actually more athletic than Neil Smith was, which kind of shows how the players have evolved since Smith played. Smith might not even make the team if he stepped into a time machine in his prime and showed up in 2024. Not quick enough to play DE and too leggy to play DT. Jones can flip outside on the change-up, but isn't really a 3-down DE.
Now watch. They'll line him up at DE 50% of the snaps, and he'll have a Michael Strahan season. There aren't many teams who can stick a 317-pound man at DE, but KC is one of those teams. Like Neil Smith, back in the day, he's not as bendy or explosive as some other DEs, but he does all his fighting deep in the opponent's backfield, and the opponent knows that side of the formation is gonna get blown up. That was why DT and Neil Smith were such a good combo. DT turned the corner on his side, and Smith got the upfield penetration on the other side.

I must say - Frank Clark did have a forced fumble on a sack he got last year, but it was called back because of a penalty. I don't reallly want him back that badly, though...

I gotta say. I do not think the DE position has improved any since we lost Clark. I don't think anyone playing opposite of George is better than Clark. It's sad to me. You typically want to improve the unit from one year to the next, but there is only so much money and everyone thinks they should be the highest paid at their position so it is hard to bring in better talent.

My limit on Skyy is this year
If he can’t excel this year then It’s just not gonna happen for him in KC
When you can’t make it with the best QB in the league I don’t know where you can go from there

I see Steele or LRZ fighting for RB 3 if a vet isn't signed. I would be interested in seeing Steele returning kick offs with the new format.

Driving around Cali with an automatic weapon laying across the seat (twice) - probably a long shot for Frank Clark this offseason. Clark won't contribute on special teams. What is Chris saying about the rest of the guys in the room that are fighting for a roster spot? I'd rather see Malik Herring at 26 make the team. He's on the rise.
