most importantly, thank you to the incredible alta patrol & mountain ops, UDOT workers and everyone else behind the scenes who make gnarly days like this safe for our enjoyment. they often times do not get the credit nor the acknowledgement they deserve.
You are such a great guy! So many people have no concept of what truly goes on at a ski resort (and probably don’t care). But Lucas, you are always so humble & thoughtful of others. Thanks for the good vibes & hope all your ski days are great days! 🙌🏼⛷️❄️❄️❄️
It was a special day for me, Lucas, getting to show you some of my favorite spots off Wildcat. Until next time!! We have a lot more terrain to cover!! ❄️ 🏔
Great job showing him around! There are so many spots that you have to be shown at least the first time. Maybe we’ll convert him to Alta over Snowbird haha
Did you guys get to Rock Gully, Wildcat Face or Westward Ho...it seemed like some editing l wasn't sure. U 2 should be arrested for having way too much fun. Best for the rest of the season.
dude, loved the style of this edit! The long, quiet POV cuts perfectly capture that focused mentality you get when hunting for untracked lines on a pow day - so immersive
Don’t be hard on yourself about not filming enough Lucas. This was a perfect skier’s map to the amazing amount of POW and fairly solid early season terrain open at Alta, which along with your previous opening Alta POW day, created such a deep appreciation for the infamous Little Cottonwood Canyon and a reason to visit this time of year. Cheers bro, keep up the great work!
What a great story of pow and storm day skiing!! Glad you got to check out some more spots around the mountain…there are so many more. Now all you really need is to stop by the mid station coffee place and get Italian Hot chocolate but that may be way too chocolatey for ya. Loved this bec it captured the vibe and essence of what “resort skiing” at Alta is about and I’m here for it. So stoked!! Now they just need some more snow
G’day Lucas, yes from Australia again. Keep up the great content. I know you enjoy the views of the Utah mountains, however, as an Aussie who has ski-travelled to France, you’ve got to get yourself over there. The views are just mind-blowing. Another plus for France/Switzerland ifs the lift systems. They make USA look old and tired. I’m not at all dissing your content! Also, put Australia on your map!
Sitting here in my office wondering about my life choices. Looks fantastic. First time I ever skied powder was at Alta. Like everything else in life it was more difficult than it looked.
hell yeah. the utah spots seem siik. i upgraded my ikon on a whim and decided to head out to utah for a week or so maybe january or feburary and hit up all the 5 ikon spots available there. then head to colortado after. just finished school and heading to mammoth next 2 weeks. too bad all the snow missed us thus far.
This video convinced me to book a last minute flight to SLC and ski at Alta Thursday through Saturday. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. See ya out there!
This winter, I’m gonna do most of my skiing at Mammoth. Because it’s so far from my house, I want to sleep in my car and do two days of skiing while I’m there. When you were there, where did you stay overnight? It looks like they’re pretty strict on overnight parking everywhere in town and at the resort from what I’ve seen
Wow. Looked amazing. Supposed to visit friends this year out there. Both looking forward to awesome conditions and afraid of the steeps! BTW the stoke squad you skied with was flying.
Love your Alta video. Tip: trust your downhill ski completely. Zero weight on your uphill especially on steeper terrain. Have a great season and BIG FUN! ~Alta veteran.
Watching your videos has been getting me through this lacking season so far. Finally starting to snow here in MN and the resorts are starting to open up. Can’t wait to get on the slopes this season. Keep it up.
What you did film made for a dope vibe of an edit today, my dude. Agreed on the dense water snow for now, should make for good times later on. Thanks for another one!
Boy that is a white out. What goggles you using. Sure looked like a work out, you must feel the burn this early in the season. I had a question would it be safer to ski with a buddy all the time when you ski in the trees like that in case of an avalanche or another accident.
Snowbird either goes way too overboard on the avalanche control or there just getting too much at once. They are already tracking to be like last year when half the mountain was shut down more often than usual. When I came up last year half the mountain never opened for over a week straight. That was in January. I was a little bummed out about it to be honest. Had one good day out of 6 days.
Last year was an insane year. There's only so much patrol can do when we got the amount of snow we did last year. Sorry you only got one good day though. And to be fair, they're "tracking" to have half the mountain shut down is a bit unfair, when SB was only at a mid 20's base until this storm. They only opened a week ago. We just didn't have much snow to start with, then a giant dump on top of the lighter snow from Friday makes for tricky conditions for patrol to handle.
most importantly, thank you to the incredible alta patrol & mountain ops, UDOT workers and everyone else behind the scenes who make gnarly days like this safe for our enjoyment. they often times do not get the credit nor the acknowledgement they deserve.
yo you put 2 es in december

Lap 1 Wildcat Face, Lap 2 Westward Ho
Steep trails, new snow, the show has officially begun! Love to see it man. Sick video comprised of straight shredding!!
yessir! steep and somewhat deep haha

i thought it was quite immersive too! glad you liked it.

I appreciate that man. Thank you for the support.
Alta never disappoints especially when the stoke squad shows you the tracks...another epic day!
literally cannot have a bad day up in LCC!
Loved the audio from you riding up the chair, just really captures the bliss of skiing in a storm.
i liked it too. especially hearing the snow on the jackets

thanks regina! just trying to do alta the justice it deserves, if thats even possible haha. looks like another small storm on the way this weekend!
Genuinely enjoy watching you explore new zones and work through it. No mind on filming, just focused on skiing the terrain.
Thanks chin.

Haha! Alta pow days are undefeated
Love my east coast mountains and skiing out here, but this is just a different level. Looking forward to getting out to UT someday
So worth it. Just get some ski legs under you before you make the trip.
definitely worth a trip at some point in your life man

Yah there’s no parking in town or at the resort. All the camping is about 15min outside of town on the other side of 395.
You know its a good day when you stop talking and just giggle!
haha exactly
Love Alta. The vibe there is awesome and the level of skiing is pretty high.
yeah level of skiing is nuts
Justin ripping sick man!
Good choice the lack of music just the sound of powder puts you right there. Thank you
thanks jason! was nice to link up with justin!
Thanks, Jason! It's nice to have some turns on film! One thing I love about skiing is that there is *always* room to improve! ❄️ 🏔
Awesome those wildcat runs looked fun .

haha its been good out there!
I start work at Palisades Tahoe Jan 1 and couldn’t be more jealous after seeing this, the cottonwoods have had such a better start to the season 😭
Yeah, we're dying over here. Was looking at the Palisades live cams this am... a little bleak. Might still go ride Red Dog for a few laps this week.
cottonwoods are honestly just unbeatable! hoping you guys get more snow out there soon
Love your Alta video. Tip: trust your downhill ski completely. Zero weight on your uphill especially on steeper terrain. Have a great season and BIG FUN! ~Alta veteran.
I'm jealous! It's pretty slim pickings here in California right now!
hoping you guys get some snow!
Always wanted to hit up Alta! Keep grinding watching gets me thru to the weekend bro!

Nice man! Here’s to a good season in the Midwest
Are you gonna get an OpenSnow affiliate link?
i do not know the answer to that actually
Literally had opensnow open before i opened this vid lol. Great sponsor, stoked for ya dude
thanks man - stoked!
looks sick. cant wait to get skis on!
Stoked for you!
Sunday was such a sick day! Cheers. My first real pow day of the season.
glad you got out there man!
I went to Alta on Saturday and the pow was amazing
i heard saturday was great!
Big ups to Alta for getting their terrain open when Snowbird wasn’t able to
definitely awesome to have some terrain to ski, but im sure snowbird did their best to open and ultimately, safety is the priority.
YEEEEEEEW this day looked sick man
gnarly but fun man!!
I was up at snowbird and we were having a snowball fight in the lift line… didn’t get to ski but that was pretty fun 😂
i feel bad for you but at least you made the most of it haha. perfect snowball packing snow.
Coming to Alta in January and watch your material to get reviews. Keep up the great work Lucas!
awesome - stoked for you!
Saw ya Rippin yesterday wild day for the mountain!!
lets go man such a sick day!
Two Questions on those whitewalkers - What size do you have? and - How do they handle when the pow starts to get chopped up?

Hopefully rheees some deeper days!!
Great video!. It looked like super fun conditions. Next year, I'm getting the IKON pass!!
such a great pass!
Lucas, where's the best Ikon destination in the west this week? I have the whole week off from work!
After watching this vid I'm gonna wear my Alta hat today! ⛷️
Haha yes! More snow incoming
Lucas be sounding like a chimpanzee when he hits that fresh powder patch 😂
hahah pretty much

im using zipline podium goggles and skyburst lenses. and its always safer to ski with a buddy than not with a buddy.
how do u film the cinematics, theyre so damn clean!!!!
i use a canon r6mkii!
What app is that
how do you keep your van from always smelling like bacon/breakfast food? not that that's a bad thing; there are definitely worse smells, just curious
It definitely smells like breakfast food
You should go to Telluride this year. They have been getting good snow and it will be a lot better than last time you went! Nice vid
Maybe! Still shows only about 44” so far this year but maybe I’m just spoiled with the 100”+ totals so far of little cottonwood haha
@@LucasCatania17 yeah that is very good snow. Hope you do decide to come and have fun doing it. Your the best
I hear a lot of good things about Open Snow..
I thought you knew the area... That guy was a good skier..
When I ski I normally leave Denver by 6am to beat the traffic... It makes for a long day but worth it..
opensnow is great if you need a forecasting app!
How were the whitewalker 116's with the conditions?
i thought they were great!

Hahahah mom would not like these conditions 😬
It was probably more like Lucas be careful with all that powder And when we get back skiing together I do have my 10 stickers on my helmet! Haha
