Ha ha. Yes it’s true! Reminds me of a guy that I used to work with.. he had an obsession with labelling everything in the office with our labelling machine. He even labelled the light switch.. well.. with the words “light switch”. In the end my boss had to hide the machine from him 😂
Sounds pretty good. Is there a squelch ? Does it have a CW interpreter ? I see there is a firmware update, can’t wait to see the revision. Hurrah to the Chinese for keeping this business interesting.
Hi there! There’s a 101 firmware update for this unit! Released on 17/04/23 Any chance you could do a video on how to update the unit with the new firmware update please!!!!!!
Indeed. I don't think SDR Play has much to worry about! It's an interesting concept for a portable radio and I can't fault the build quality but much more work to be done here!
Oh... Good review, but looks like another receiver going to market before it's ready. So many missed opportunities here by the manufacturer. I was thinking of buying one of these, hence my watching your review, but now, nope. Thanks for the review though, very helpful 🙂
Thank you. Yes, don't waste your money. The Malachites are better than these. It is a real shame as they look lovely. I wouldn't buy it again though....
Yes, it's a great looking radio just let down by under developed firmware. A lot of the functionality issues could be resolved by future updates but it remains to be seen if the manufacturer is willing to carry this out. The radio has been around since July/August 2022 as far as I can see and we are still on firmware 1.0.0
@@Transmission1 Similar to some of the Chinese radios. They look great but are let down by the firmware. Then they just abandon them and move on to the next model.
To be honest and a little rude - This is another piece of Chinese radiosh*t, looks attractive on the outside to attract a buyer, inside is sparse and disappointing. Quite a typical system for selling devices, they release a beautiful shell with poor content, sell it, abandon it, then make a new one. My opinion is that this is a stillborn product. I had this receiver, I got rid of it by selling it
Yeah I don’t hold much hope of any future firmware updates but you never know. There are only a few Chinese manufacturers that support there products longer term such as AnyTone. Such a shame but with the low prices they don’t have much incentive for long term support.
@@Transmission1 Deepelec promise to release a new firmware before April, I don't know what will come of it. But there is a Chinese company called Valeton, they support their products for a long time (more than a year), even the most inexpensive current models, this is an example of good service
This radio is junk... Save your money and don't give it to these thieves... Get a Sihuadon or XHDATA D808 and you'll do better. Side by side the 808 will blow this away... This is a expensive TOY and I got burned by falling for these garbage reviews!! Thank me later!!
Mate what portable model do you recommend? Is this one decent for a beginner? Also for you what the appeal of these over say a standard radio and tuner? Cheers...
Having an LED icon under the LED really helps establish the fact that the LED really is an LED! Nice touch.

Yea, How Would Everyone Know Where The Led Is?

hmm, as soon as I saw those spurious signals with the antenna disconnected I was worried. I'll stick with my SDRplayDX for a while yet!

13:45 Roger, roger, excellent speaker audio for the size, not sure the actuals models do the same ? 73
I have a MALAHIT 2 from the actual makers and I absolutely love it.
Hello, What is the difference between the Malachite SDR1 and SDR2 model?
Is it just the SDR software version?
SINCERELY

Is this DeepSDR the same as the Goozeezoo?
It's a shame about the interface letting it down as the display looks very sharp.

Just the fact that the screen freezes out when touching with the stylus instead of tuning around just makes me hate those little SDRs... :-(
I think it was a great review with good listenable examples. I think it must be a step up from a TECSUN PL660.
No it's not. It's a toy. Save your money...
@@seasparrow7427 I bought one and enjoy playing with the toy. It does a good job but could use more features.
Looks amazing until you turn it on. Lol

Yeah, a real disappointment but it looks great! That's the only good thing going for it!
No firmware forthcoming, this could have been a fantastic radio. It seems that they have made a unit purely to hoodwink us into buying it.
Yes such a shame, great looking radio but it looks like they have no intention of taking the development forward.
