Thanks Lewis! I'm glad you enjoyed the review! It's a great radio and very reasonably priced considering what you get. The antenna was the most surprising thing - working far better than I thought was possible with rubber duck! It really shouldn't work as well as it does!
I've had mine for about 5 months and I'm well happy with it...and in export mode its fantastic ive had lots of copies outside the UK to...if this radio has ssb it would be a radio if all radios regarding cb...brilliant radio and NRC noise reduction works like a DSP..10 out of 10 from me....
You're welcome! We loved testing our the Thunderpole T-X. Best value handheld out there right now! Please consider making an SSB version in the future if possible and if you want to send any gear for testing in the then feel free to contact me ;)
You're welcome! I always point people in your direction when it comes to mods and tips! Love the radio, have to give it back soon but I've enjoyed using it. I'd say it's much better value than the President Randy 3 and no complaints about low modulation. I did do try and adjust the Randy with the service menu but it never seemed to make much difference!
@@Transmission1 there's debug software for the T-X which allows you to adjust the modulation and other things but the radio works really well straight out of the box.
Agree 100% with this review - the Thunderpole team did an absolutely cracking job with the T-X. Probably the best value for money in a handheld at the moment.
Great review! I've just bought one of these from Knights. Just waiting for it to arrive 👍 Always been into CB and radio in general, surprised I've only just found your channel! But now I have, and I'm subscribed. Cheers again 👏
I have heard US stations on mine on AM. Obviously they were running massive power, but it was still quite exciting considering it was just the helical antenna.
I'm hearing the AM stations on the review radio with just the stock antenna too. If you listen on 27.025 AM (channel 6 EU band) you'll hear what the US CB guys call the "Superbowl". Basically lots of stations running massive power and competing to be the strongest. The conditions are so good at the moment that you can hear low power AM operators in the US easily during the afternoons in the UK.
Good solid review, well done. Thinking of getting back into CB, but after checking with my scanner, my area is now very quiet. Might buy it to take with me on day trips -- you can see where this is going - I want one ! 😂
Great review, and great channel. What I dont get is on UK 40 (27/81) you have less then 4 watts across the band? Doesnt quite make sense when the legal max., is 4 watts... That aside it's a great set up for the money and the sound quality - especially on AM.. fantastic. 🙂👍
Thanks for the comments! Yes the power seems to be tuned for optimum output on the midblock frequencies, probably as this is the most commonly used band outside of the UK - most of Europe uses those channels so I'm guessing they put the effort into that. The AM audio quality is excellent, I'd probably go as far as saying better than the FM too :) Sadly under used in the UK even though been legal for a long while..
Looks like a fantastic radio, especially with the export mode options. But it is missing one, important feature that would make this a true winner. Like Dire Straights use to sing - "I Want My SSB"......
i bought 6 President Randys . All of the antennas fell apart . I purchased aftermarket HYS antennas plus BNC to TNT adapters so we could continue to use the radios. Where can I buy these radios ? I want the European version because they still use USA frequencies. Im here in New York City.
I think I would agree! The AM mode sounds great on this radio. We do Have access to legal AM and SSB in the UK but about of operators here still stick to the FM.
Yes, would agree with your comment but the Randy 3 is twice the price of the Thunderpole. FM does distort slightly as you turn the volume level up on the Thunderpole. That said it's great value and feels solid!
I couldn't get a thunderpole tx last month so I went for the pni escort 82, it's cheaper than the thunderpole plus the in car kit is provided in the box .
They are a nice radio i payed £108 I have not tested out yet when out and about I am coming back after years it would be nice to get more people to come back to the cb how good is that antenna that came with it what other antenna do you recommend to use on this radio when having a walk out doing a field test could you do a video on the midland Alan 42DS I have the midland Alan 42 I just wanted to see what the difference was cheers
Good evening just bought this it’s my first cb could you help me with setup please I’ve installed the antenna in the 4x4 but I’m unsure of frequencies and how to set it up Regards
It's really not that difficult to find a TNC adaptor on your favourite auction site. I use them all of the time because I am a military radio nut, and they always use TNC as opposed to BNC for an antenna mount. @@Transmission1
Can I use this on it. TWAYRDIO BNC Telescopic Handheld Portable CB Radio Antenna 27Mhz Extendable 23.3cm to 1.3m Antennas for Midland Cobra Uniden Handheld/Portable CB Ham Radio
I've never used a cb radio, but was thinking of getting one for myself and my son who lives around 150 miles away. Would this transmit and receive over that distance or would I need a home rig?
You would probably be better off sticking to a mobile phone or making video calls, as I don’t think you would make contact with your son , using a CB radio at that distance.
Yes that is actually true with CB hanhelds in general... they are lucky to manage a few miles in a good location. PMR-446 is a much better choice for local comms although the Thunderpole TX was better than I thought it might be!
The quality of your reviews is fantastic. I have this radio but still watched all of this!

WOW! Thank you for posting this video. Glad you like our radio 👍

I just bought one because of your video thank you very informative video and thanks for putting the thunderpole website on the description
Mate I'm getting one deffo...
It's a cracking radio for the money - Thanks for the mention as well 👍👍👍👍

What a review, got one of these coming from Santa, gonna use it in the car with a mag mount

Clever bit of kit, really nice
Lots of good information, I was looking at getting this
Thanks! Well worth giving one of these a try - the export mod is ideal for 10m FM operation and the stock antenna is better than you would imagine!

Got my thunder pole tx today for my birthday 😊
I've subscribed because you did the legwork, don't change your style absolutely loved this video 🎯💯‼️
Cracking Video Simon ! That radio looks familiar 🤔😂
Ha ha.. yes nice radio. I better get it returned to its owner! 😉
Nice review Simon. I'm almost tempted with one myself.
Best wishes

Wow.... love the way its powered, wonderful and the standard ext mic of present h/h's ..got lots of other very good and welk thought out design
It’s a great wee radio, however i wish it had a commercial radio receiver like the baofengs etc
Great review is there many people on the airways in your area please may I ask?
I had a thunderpole ariel back in 81 with my new 3001 midland 27/81 ..
Thanks for the review! How about a distance test to see how far it can transmit using different antennas?

Thunder Pole have the tx in stock now ,
AM sounds much better than FM that why all Europe use AM.
I think I would agree! The AM mode sounds great on this radio. We do

Nice review. my Mate... Wot no mention 🤣
Hi Dave! Happy you enjoyed the review! Erm.... I'll try and drop your name into the next video lol 🤣🤣
great review and a nice looking handy

Seems to be an excellent radio! The speaker on the Randy 3 sounds better to me though and you can even set the tone there.
Yes, would agree with your comment but the Randy 3 is twice the price of the Thunderpole. FM does distort slightly as you turn the volume level up on the Thunderpole. That said it's great value and feels solid!
Got mine yesterday, awesome radio

I bought one 2 weeks ago, uk fm and channel 19, just listen you'll hear a breaker eventually, car kit is ace with a magmount
Can you check the SWR wish it did have SWR built in.
Can I use thunder pole tx with whip on magmount in car and talk to skip
Can you use this radio whilst having it plugged into car charger.
Great review by the way
3:39 TNC is preferable to the BNC as an antenna base as it it is mechanically stable. It does not have a 'rock' to it.
I would agree but I guess the manufacturer went along with the BNC as it's easier to find adapters and alternative antennas with this connector.
It's really not that difficult to find a TNC adaptor on your favourite auction site. I use them all of the time because I am a military radio nut, and they always use TNC as opposed to BNC for an antenna mount. @@Transmission1
Looking to buy one of these is it hard to set up? Like is it literally turn on and you can find people to speak to or what do I have to input anything
I adapt the other way with the car kit as I use a bnc type magnetic antenna mount and I use a baofeng motorcycle ptt headset with mine
Will this unit work in the U.S.A.?
Yes - you have mid block FCC frequencies in this radio, both on AM and FM. Radio works great in AM mode so you'll be fine :)

Are they any good just on rubber duck
Works very well with rubber duck not much difference with a telescopic
is this radio LEGAL in uk ?
Sure is.
Nice WELZ!
I've got mine
The guy you are talking to sounds like he has a lollipop in his mouth. He sounds better on AM.
Stock antenna is pretty useless, a lot more noise compared to to PMR 446 radio
Please speak more slowly
Handhelds are fantastic for talking to someone half a mile down the road! Haha, You can do just as well using a cheap 446 MHz radio…..
Yes that is actually true with CB hanhelds in general... they are lucky to manage a few miles in a good location. PMR-446 is a much better choice for local comms although the Thunderpole TX was better than I thought it might be!
