Thank you! Very encouraging, at fisrt I was worried about my age(turning 50 this year) and thinking is it too late for me. Now listening to you, I'm pushing forward. Also, congrats on your future.
Peace be to you! I'm a new subscriber and fellow PA (and 😉coffee drinker❤☕)! It's great seeing new PAs. The application process, like the field, has changed so much in the past 20 years since I started in 97'. There really needs to be more information about this great profession given to students. I didn't know about the PA career either, when I finally applied. I was a CNA whilst working on my B.S. in Biology (and pre-med; 😒didn't get in either). Keep up the great work you are doing! I look forward to seeing more of your videos!🤓👨🏾⚕️👍🏾
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your story!! Just like you, I haven't considered PA school until almost going into my junior year. It is very encouraging to hear from someone that was in the same boat as I am now and who is very genuine about their strengths and weaknesses.
1500 hours of PCE seems small now. I know I saw some places with a minimum of 250 hours, but others having a minimum of 2500hrs. To top that off, some of those schools had the average accepted hours listed and people were between 5,000-7,000 hours. I’ve just completed 5100 hours and I’m panicking that I might not have enough to be competitive to someone with 7,000 hours.
Thank you so much for this! I am a high school student taking undergraduate courses and it's so challenging to figure out what courses to take or what the future has in store for me. This video helped sort it out!
Thank you for sharing. You give me alot of hope and encouragement. I like u didnt get in has a first time applicant. I also was blindsided by how much more competive PA school has gotten. I feel like I also need to get more patient care hours. N apply to more than one school. I got an interview for this one school. But I feel like I was not has prepared on standing out has I thought. My gpa is 3.5 and science is 3.7. I have healthcare experience and volunteer, but not hands on patient care. So thats what im workin on. And also getting volunteer experience at a place im passionate about. I also feel like i should express from my heart vs. What other students have said, just focus on me this time.
hey , you seem like a genuine person, can you please give me some advice. I'm currently in school in earning my Bachelor in nursing , afterward i want to go to PA school immediately after graduation. the only issue is that I will have some student loan from my BSN degree. How would you go about attending PA school already being in debt. I dont have any kids, wife or anything I'm all by myself. can you please give me some options, even if it requires severe sacrifices. thanks best regards
I am doing research on different career pathways. I am trying to read information, watch videos, etc. PA is one of my options and I am trying to figure out if this is something I would enjoy doing, this kind of stories make think and compare my options. I am colleges senior, and there are so many questions on my mind that this stories give me some hope. I will continue watching her videos and so many other because they are informative and helpful. During this quarantine, there is so much and one of those things is to think about my future.
This is great to watch! I'm applying to a few PA schools this fall and listening to your story was nice. Thank you for the time you took making this video. :)
Oh my gosh you probably won’t see this but I’m a sophomore in college and I just changed my major because I was planning on being a physical therapist for all this time and just recently found out about PA’s and what they do because I had no idea I thought they were just medical assistants. But yeah it’s funny you say all that because that is kinda exactly where I’m at rn in life lol. And I also live in Ohio. I am also looking for PAs to shadow and not exactly sure about how to go about that.
I'm really interested in becoming a PA. Right now I'm working on getting my BS in Health Science (I'm a junior) but I'm thinking about taking a break from working on my undergrad to do a two year degree in Respiratory Therapy. My plan is to work as an RRT for a few years and finish up my bachelors while I work. I think RRT would be useful to gain experience / patient care hrs and also to have a job with a living wage while I'm going through school (I'm 24 years old and have a child to support). Do you think this would be a wise route?
I am glad I found your channel! Congratulations on graduating in 2 and a half months, your'e almost there! I can't imagine all the hardwork, sacrifice and studying you went through. Thank you for all the information, helpful tips and positivity. I truly appreciate it, keep killin it!
Hi, great video!! Could you explain how you were able to find an opportunity in the baby unit and what you did there? I’m looking to find patient care hours and I’d love to work with newborns!!
Im finishing up my junior year as a health science major and I’ve been freaking out trying to figure out how to finish this major and get my science courses…. I feel…. Duped. Everyone in my pre PA group was a health science major so I just thought it was the best option. I’m so sad.
Hi. I'm a new subscriber. I can't get over how competitive PA school has become! Good GRIEF!😰 I graduated from PA school 20 years ago (B.S. PA at Howard 00' and MPAS from University of Nebraska 03'). I had completed a B.S. in Biology 94' with the intention of medical school. Your story is REALLY interesting! It sounds alot like mine. I was even a CNA for a while. I think the PA profession is AWESOME! There still needs to be more education given to the public about what we do. It would be good to go to high schools to talk the students about the PA profession. What do you think about the PA-ACT test proposed in lieu of the GRE?🤔
Hey Adrienne! This was an amazing video, thank you it helped a lot. If you don't mind, I was wondering if you can possible share your essay (if you still have it) with me, because it would help a lot, because I'm not sure of how it's supposed to be structured. Thank You!
thank you for that but i am currently studying cardiac technology and i am planning to do take up PA course after this but i am not sure if its worth it...........any suggestions
Thank you! Very encouraging, at fisrt I was worried about my age(turning 50 this year) and thinking is it too late for me. Now listening to you, I'm pushing forward. Also, congrats on your future.
llaney42 it’s never too late!!
There are medical students in med school in their 40s and 50s.
Its never too late keep going
By time I get my packet ready, I'll be right on the edge of the big 5-0!
Awesome keep moving forward congrats!!

This was helpful, thank you! I am currently taking the next year to get more patient care hours, volunteer, and take the GRE.

Im an undergrad freshman pursing PA school and this was really helpful :) thank you!
Thank you! I’d love to hear more about your experience at PA school and the transition from undergrad to grad school!

Hi, great video!! Could you explain how you were able to find an opportunity in the baby unit and what you did there? I’m looking to find patient care hours and I’d love to work with newborns!!
Thank you 🙏 for this video, it was helpful. Be amazing!
How do we get patient care hours? I just started my sophomore year of college and kind of freaking out! 😭
How much did I cost to apply to 10 pa schools? I’m thinking about doing the same thing.
this is so motivating. the PA schools that I’m applying to require 1,000 hours minimum and I’m working towards at least 3,000 😭
Would you go back and try to get into medical school?
Im finishing up my junior year as a health science major and I’ve been freaking out trying to figure out how to finish this major and get my science courses…. I feel…. Duped. Everyone in my pre PA group was a health science major so I just thought it was the best option. I’m so sad.
