Even at age 74 and a long time canner, there is something new to learn! I never heard of adding apple cider vinegar to apples for applesauce! Now I may have to try this!😀. And I never heard of apple scrap vinegar. I used to take my scraps and make jelly. Love your channel. Another great video.
I think I must have misspoke in the video. I use apple cider for applesauce, and then use the scraps from the apples to make apple scrap vinegar. If we have enough apples this year we’re going to take them to a local place to have them pressed into apple cider!! I’m so excited to see how our apples taste as cider 🍂🍎
Perfect timing! I peeled and cut up another crock pot full of apples for sauce this morning. I use my 8 quart crockpot and stuff it full! I add just a cup or so of water...and I love that I dont have to worry about it scortching. It makes about 4 quarts of cooked down sauce. I don't add sweetner either...just a generous layer of cinnamon! That adds a bit of sweetness and of course plenty of yummy flavor.
The crockpot would be a great way to do it without burning your apples!!! We ended up going on vacation right after our first harvest and when we got home most of the apples that were left were cider apples. Which we’re grateful for the many gallons of apple cider we got but are sad to not have more sauce. Might try to find a source for organic apples and make some sauce in the crock this winter. Have a great day! Thanks so much for watching!!
I can almost smell them, so good. I have an apple tree that is starting to have a few. I was so excited, I had a few more this year but. something got into them and ate all but 4. Your family is so sweet and is fun to watch them working together.
Oh no!! That’s what happened to our Apple trees last year. Deer! So disappointing. But every year is a new chance. Thanks so much for watching. Have a great week!
I know right!! My mother in law is a genius. It is so delicious! Thanks for collaborating with me!! So excited to see all your other videos this Fall and Winter 🍂
