    I would love to see you guys give it a bush conversion. The wings might be too big clear anything narrower than a desert, no problem, just cut the wings in half on each side. Weight reduction + faster. Anyway, that's enough from the armchair engineer. Great Vid!

    I have a Multiplex glider that seems to have about the same handling characteristics. I have rebuilt it a number of times following some "unfortunate incidents" that came about due to its floaty behaviors near the deck and its puzzling attraction to dropping a wing like a hipster dropping $3900/month to live in a downtown apartment over a coffee house.
    If you fly it like it will bite you, it will reward you with "the swoopies" (a type of a sound it makes motor-off at low altitude after a long power-on dive) and some really impressive 3/4 into-wind performance. It climbs like a homesick angel with power and flap. It will do nice power-off loops after a solid dive, too.
    Just watch that downwind turn to base - keep the throttle on and pull only a moderate amount of G - then, be prepared for some forward stick and flap to force that nose towards the deck.

    If you want to thermal hunt pick up a 6610 and turn on Vario. We play with this in the plains and catch some amazing pre-storm thermals when thunderheads are growing!
    Also, yes, bigger better elevator servo! She brings on the speed fast!

    That was fun to watch! Nice review. You really put that glider through it's paces. I just maidened mine a couple weeks ago. I agree with everything you said. Its fun, powerful, and doesn't glide great lol. The setup is the coolest part of this glider. Other than the heavy ass metal rods, its well thought out. Clips together pretty well and the styrofoam box works perfect to transport it.

    This "Glider" is unbelievably durable, I have crashed mine a number of times heavily, and the only thing damaged are the stupid wing locks, and the very heavy wing spars.
    You would not think it, looking at those wing spars, but they bend easily, on the treads, so be sure to have a couple of spares. But once in the air its a lot of fun

    I got one second hand for cheap and had to re-hinge the flaps and ailerons. Did it with dubro plastic hinges and hinge set to get it perfect. Anywayyyyyys, when I go into a dive and pick up too much speed, the wings start to flutter and the ailerons lose signal for a second until i bleed the speed with the elevator. So sketchy, i still like flying it at sub-flutter speeds and i really enjoy its authority! +1 on 150 travel and crow🎉

    Hi folks
    I don't quite agree with you.
    This glider has its faults, yes, but it also has some important qualities for a beginner (it's virtually indestructible!). 🙂
    And as long as you know how to adjust it correctly (by exploiting the thermal cambers on your Tx radio programs) and balance it (my Rx is inside the fuselage and the Lipo must be very far back in the cockpit) it will glides perfectly well, which is its objective.
    FMS ASW-17 is one of the best quality/price ratios in Europe for less than 330€ RR, well ahead of Multiplex, Kavan and Volantex, for example.
    In comparison, MPX Heron (one of the best EPO glider) is around 450€ RR. Same for Kavan TwinShark.

    I had a powered glider with folding prop it was 3 channel rudder elevator and throttle I spent more time on throttle trying to keep it in the air than actually gliding because when I let off throttle and up elevator it just wanted to dive rudder wasn’t a problem i even reversed the elevator servo thinking that was the issue it just wanted to dive so I gave up got rid of it and got a simple 2 channel slope soarer that I just tossed off the highest hill at park and no problem

    First good review. I was able to get 7 flights out of mine. In my opinion this model has some serious design flaws. True it is not a thermal seeker, way to heavy. The wing spring locks are brittle plastic and will break. The wing assembly and disassembly is a pain in the. My main problem was with the horizontal stabilizer. I was in a power off dive and when I started to pull up the stab. Slid forward and I lost all pitch control. The hor. Stab. Needs a screw in it to hold it in place. Thus total destruction. After two emails and three weeks, FMS responded with glue it back together in broken English. So this was my first and last FMS product that I will ever buy. Sorry for the rant. The e flite night radian is so much better than the 17 in every aspect. ASW 17 parts for sale.

    I wrote a comparative test in a French review between this "glider" and 4 other foam glider. My conclusion about this ASW17 is only price and easy flying are positive. But it's not really a glider, it's an airplane, build as an airplane with glider look. It's not crash proof as other Multiplex gliders, but the worst is about flying without motor. As we can see in this video, all aerobatics are made with motor ON. This stone need it, but I made a lot of aerobatic with mpx glider, with motor OFF. Nothing to compare. (Please note all Mpx gliders needs 12mm CG backward). I was thinking to use this ASW17 for my rc glider school , but I've no place for it.

    • @TailHeavyProductions
      @TailHeavyProductions  2 месяца назад +1

      Different missions. Conscendo Evolution is a sportier acro mixed with gliding design - whereas this one is purely meant for gliding but doesn't do it well.

    • @Anomic_Hunter202
      @Anomic_Hunter202 2 месяца назад

      @TailHeavyProductions haha. I think the conscendo is better, I've flown the new umx one and it's has an excellent glide slope. I can launch it from my hand, no throttle, and it can go about 200 feet.

    • @TailHeavyProductions
      @TailHeavyProductions  2 месяца назад

      The glide ratio of the original Conscendo beats the Evolution and the UMX by a long shot as it's much lighter. If it was still for sale, the original is all we'd suggest for an intro to gliding/light acro plane. Bear in mind how far a plane will glide after you throw it also changes with how firm of a launch you make.

    • @Anomic_Hunter202
      @Anomic_Hunter202 2 месяца назад

    I didn’t see you flying it as a sailplane you were just doing acrobatics nonstop. So how hard would it be to get it to altitude and show us how it glides or not. How heavy is it compared to another powered sailplane with similar wingspan. Just saying it’s heavy means nothing. You continually bashed the plane but said it was great fun and will keep it in your arsenal for a long time. I’m confused by this entire video.

    Beware the exploding plastic spinner that will happen and wreck the gilder as the motor will rip out of the nose when the prop hub breaks whilst powered up.The spinner then becomes unbalanced and rips the motor from its mounting. Spinner hub needs to be aluminum not plastic.
