Nobody is complaining about the smuggling and Western music influences on Kino. But Victor himself said in interviews that people interpret too much politics into his songs. Even more: when Kino had the possibility to travel to the West and make concerts they were at one hand happy but at the other hand disappointed about the Western audience. Not because of the lack of attention but because of cultural gap. They felt bored in the West. So they returned back to Russia and made most concerts there.

What does the Berlin Wall have to do with a conversation about a Russian band? It was in Germany, not in Russia. The Wall fell in 1989, while the Soviet Union existed until 1991. More relevant would be the policy of perestroika, which Gorbachev began in 1985. Democratic reforms led to the point where, from around 1987, one could listen to and perform any kind of music, even openly anti-Soviet. At the Leningrad Rock Festival in 1987, a band called Adolf Hitler performed.

But I (and not only I) came finally to conclusion that this song is about the strive for stability (earth) and development, achievement, moving forward (sky). Especially because there are a lot of other Kino's songs with are about this dilemma. I would say, this is one of the main problems Viktor's songs are about: how a homo sapience animal species becomes a spirit and a human during his young age. The song Dark/Calm Night is also about this in some sense.
