Halloween is such a massive marketing idea that they really need to push more and more as who else can say their country is where Halloween began?! I want them to do to Halloween what they did to the Wild Atlantic Way which was a genius move. Fair play to them!
So this is the reason why we couldn't visit the ring fort in Craggaunowen, a few weeks back??? Alright so, that ad was probably worth the hassle of a few visitors...
Christianity doesn't contradict the universal truths the ancients believed, but it does provide a very detailed explanation while also reminding us that we have no right to attempt to seize power. Where we differ from the ancients is in our acceptance of God's will; we can pray, but we can't cast spells.
Sorry but no. Ireland is not the home of Halloween. Halloween was a celtic festival which was celebrated in all the celtic states, Ireland isnt the birthplace of halloween.
Yes it is the birthplace of Halloween. Smhain is referenced by 5th/ 6th century Irish monks in the 'Book of Invasions" which was transcribed directly from pre-Celtic Irish pagan oral myths spawned several thousand years ago. Hallowe'en (or Hallow's Eve) is the direct English translation of that tradition when it was introduced to England by irish immigrants. It was the Irish-Americans who actually fully commercialised the tradition thereby introducing it to the whole world.
I didn't notice any videos of Catholic sites. Sorry if you do and i missed them. Traveled to Ireland 18 yrs ago. Even then it was becoming european sameness. Losing your uniqueness. Very sad. Wouldn't visit any western European country anymore.

Does anyone know what they are dressed up as?
The costumes are a representation of what would have been traditionally worn to ward off spirits. 👻😃
Is there a collective name for them? My son is literall making the costume right now @@discoverireland
Do you mean the Celtic or the spirits that wandered the world? The villagers are Celts and the spirits were believed to be otherworldly beings. 👻
Can anyone tell me where this bridge is located? Thanks
That's the Peace Bridge in Derry-Londonderry! ☘️

A true Ingmar Bergman classic. ✨
Think I prefer the land of Saints and Scholars ❤

As a direct descendant of Ireland, I endorse this message.
But you left out the Druids performing human sacrifices.

I think this was set before catholisicm was spread to Ireland
Yes! Samhain is an ancient festival dating back more than 2,000 years. Catholicism began to spread in Ireland in the early 5th century.
Hmmm 99% of this vid is Northen Ireland, not Ireland its part of the United Kingdom. False advertising.
Yes, it's all on the island of Ireland.
It's in Ireland, the clue is in the name.
