- Join us to celebrate over 700 years of Ireland's rich whiskey heritage. The journey began with the earliest recorded recipe for distilling 'Aqua Vitae' in the Red Book of Ossory, a manuscript from the year 1324, now on display at St Canice’s Cathedral in County Kilkenny. From 'Aqua Vitae' in Latin to 'Uisce Beatha" in the Irish language, and finally "whiskey" in English, Ireland led the world in whiskey production, sharing our craft with the world.
Today, with over 30 distilleries and whiskey visitor experiences, you can immerse yourself in this tradition, exploring the land, the ingredients and the craft in stunning locations across the island of Ireland.

Love it!
We're happy to hear! 😊
Sean's Bar in Athlone is 1,123 years old (which is considered to be the oldest pub in the world )so I (being Irish) don't think they were drinking water for 423 years
That water was grain flavoured at the very least. 😉🍻 Sean's Bar also has a whiskey distillery of their own.
Good one! Typically the Scottish neighbors claim so…🙃
