Hold on … hand to ear pretending to be listening to a phone call … I’m being told that there’s a compilation of all of Chris’s Night Light episodes somewhere on the RUclipss. Not a clue where they might be found.
It's was nice that Biff finally got that long coveted writing gig...not to mention...a songwriting credit with Paul Anka. That theme really got my toes-a-tappin'.
One of my favorite sitcoms was "Get a Life" starring Chris Elliot. That show's title was based on an expression which first entered pop culture lore by William Shatner uttering "Get a Life" on "Saturday Night Live" in November, 1986. Chris and his Dad were so witty!
Thank you Jimmy Fallon, that guy Colbert with the Glasses, and the other Jimmy guy. Getting up early in the morning has never been easier since you 3 took over for David, Conan & Leno.
I like the completely despondent woman in the front row of the studio audience. She looked like a writer who got mad that Chris didn't deliver the line she gave him properly.
That's staff member Barbara Sheehan. She has her own staff memories video on this channel. She was very shy and hated being on camera. As she says in her memories video, she did it for the money.
0:49 I like that this is decades before the smartphone era and the woman in the front simulating boredom almost seems to be looking for a smartphone that isnt there 😂
“Special thanks to the staff of Late Night with David Letterman for working overtime on Night Light for no additional 'remuneration.” These credits killed me!
Chris had great skits on Letterman!! Wonder if teri remembers this show? I have wondered as well, if Dave smoked his cigars in a way that caught him partially on his show, like the 70's Carson shows had most guests/Johnny drinking? a little homage?
This is basically what Steve Vizard from Australia did. He literally ripped off Letterman in the 90s. Look up on youtube "Tonight Live with Steve Vizard" His set was similar to Dave's. Had a very similar opening credits. He even copied Dave's mannerisms. It was really strange. Apparently they were told to cease production or face a law suit from Carson productions and NBC. Really strange situation...and there was another doing the same I'm Germany....anyway...this bit really reminded me of it! Only it wasn't a bit. It was real life

Well worth seeking out.
Thank you old friend

What a LEGEND. Chris “Cabin Boy” Elliott!!!

Chris Elliott should have gotten his own late night talk show for real. He was great on Late Night, and he was awesome on Night Light.
Now i'm recalling Night Flight. Now there's a show I miss.
@downforce65 Well, we can make shows of our own.
Chris always makes me laugh out loud.
fantastic to see teri garr. she looked like she was having fun

80s Letterman and Chris Elliot were big influences on my growing mind as a kid in the 80s
"you smell terrific" 😂😂😂
DAVE IS SMOKING A CIGAR LIKE TRIUMPH THE INSULTING DOG.
😂❤
Nice comparison 😂
lol. The temp hair as a joke never fails to get a laugh

Great Chris Elliott impersonation, Ted Koppel!
Yummy.
Teri Garr.
Rest in peace, Teri, and *thank you* for the laughs. You were a gem!

These credits killed me!
Chris Elliot, the American version of Tom Green.
I was just thinking that!! Lol
King of Vast Wasteland.
that was hilarious.
Comedy at it's finest....
That was great... 🎅
Chris is the best. Can he please do a Staff Favourites or chat with Barbara on the BGS one day?
Dave would include Terry garr in a lot of skits like this something about her presence just adds to the comedy kind of like Dave's cigar

Every time I watched Night Light, I always wondered why Chris's guests had no torso....
So damn good!
"Gee , you smell terrific..."
Craig Kilborn everybody. Craig Kilborn.
back in the days when it was popular to discuss the types of smell coming off of a woman
Night Light is copyright NBC, 1987
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
hahaha
was the writer in the first row the fantastic merrill markoe?
It looks like staff member Barbara Sheehan.
Bring back "Night Light", COWARDS!
Glad he was able to solve that pesky nuclear proliferation issue. Whew.
This is Better than Anything David Letterman Ever Did.
Martin Mull?
Chris, why don't you just go back to ripping off our show?
I always felt that this show was a huge ripoff of Nightline. Ted Koppel et al. should have sued Elliott.
Dave, “I prefer to keep my political views to myself”. Too bad he changed directions on that. He’s lost his “funny”.
I guess Dave’s “I keep my political views to myself” didn’t last long.
@@gerrydooley951 You haven’t been paying attention.
Politics to himself.. Wish that was true.. Chris is funny AF tho.
I didn't find his brand of humour funny what so ever.
damn sorry to hear that
Too esoteric for the masses.
Chris Elliott is absolutely brilliant. Dave called him the funniest person he ever met.
I too often spend time watching and commenting on videos I don't like!
