There's actually a history behind the characters and this game as a whole. The flyer is describing the NES version, as the image shown on the front of the flyer is taken right from the box art of the NES Thunder & Lightning, and the NES version has 30 levels instead of the arcade's 25 (20 if you don't include boss levels). Furthermore, the NES version also has the "Thunder Warrior" exactly as he appears on the boxart instead of being the goblin-like entity you see here, and the girlfriend Mr. Chin gets in the arcade version isn't present in the NES version, further supporting the tagline was meant to be based on the NES version. Also if you're questioning Mr. Chin's gluttonous personality, he and Marcus previously appeared in "Mr. Chin's Gourmet Paradise" on the Game Boy, where the main goal is to devour your enemies whole. Hope that clears up a few things.
Oh, and Block Carnival/Thunder & Lightning 2 has zero connection to the original game outside of being a breakout clone, making it a sequel in name only.
Excellent use of "like it ain't no thang". "He just gets bored of this battle and swims away" -- LOL. Very funny about the pathetic existence of limited-animation bosses. The ingrained wrongness of running away from a Breakout clone ball was also great.
Man I played this in a table top format at a hotel on Vacation, nobody else have ever heard of it lol I seem to remember playing 2 player with my dad too
New episode! yay ! Strangly, the face on the back of the spider is not that weird. There are some spiders (and butterflies) that mimic a face on there body.
Tom I was wondering if you would make a follow up to your Monster Party video where you cover the prototype version. It explains so much weird stuff from the American version. The giant Grim Reaper was supposed to be a parody of the xenomorphs from Alien and it was meant to throw face huggers.
People who have really crazy ideas don't create the most interesting things, because they don't put in the work to finish projects, and people usually have to fail at a few projects before they make anything good.
"Apparently breakout clones can have bosses" And I quit watching because you obviously have played too few breakout style games to give a decent opinion of the game.

This game looks fun, that's what really matters!
If you can emulate Tiger handheld games on MAME, I suppose emulating a fishtank isn't too much of a stretch.
Nice to see another episode!

Thanks! What part of Ontario? I'm in Toronto, eh? :)

Maybe it's a pacifist run and that's why the boss aren't dying. I mean a ball isn't the deadliest weapon either.
Please do a video about the sequel, it looks hilarious!
Thunder and lightning aren’t so frightening.
welcome back

Finally a new one!
9:53 It's an ancient Chinese secret!
This was wonderful.
Anyone have a link to a legible version of the ending text? I'm curious about what had the host so surprised.
I was surprised because it was completely unreadable, haha
Does that shot of the over world (or whatever it is, the one with the castle) remind anyone else of Chrono Trigger? or is it just me?
Facinating.
How can I download this game?
You should review Panic!
I thought it was a DS game at first.
physics.. or perspective?
Too bad pretty much nobody will remember Thunder and Lightning III Thunder's Lightning
Review Cho Aniki
I DOUBLE DARE YOU
Yes!! Even though that game is deliberately and self-consciously weird (a "baka geemu", I guess?), I have also been hoping to see it on this channel.
Marcus Is the girl.
American's are too logical and practical. I think it somehow restricts creativity.
He's a Canadian.

Americans & our damn..
* shuffles deck*
Logic & practicality!!
