Lots of comedians are also very good musicians. Charlie Chaplin composed most of the music for his movies. Oliver Hardy had a beautiful singing voice. The Marx Brothers were all accomplished musicians, same thing with the 3 Stooges. Steve Martin is a virtuoso banjo player. He even played with Emmylou on the Letterman show. Conversely Frank Zappa was a very funny guy, and so were the Beatles. Check out "Hard Days Night" it's hilarious. I think there's some kind of connection between music and comedy. Both require a higher than average level of intelligence and a fair amount of rebelliousness. Maybe that's why some people are naturally good at both.
