    Chris you are one of the first persons who are actually making musical stuff with the volca Modular :-)
    I got instant inspiration and boy does it sound lovely with the NTS as a feed into the VC. I always used it the other way arround!
    Thanks for this.

      Thanks very much. Yes the Nts1 can do some great things and I know a lot of Volca owners bought one. I've been mostly using it for FX but I had a bit of a eureka moment a few days ago I decided to explore it this way round, it's capable of so much, great fun 😁

      I think he's just about talked me into wanting a Korg Volca Modular for the first time. I guess I didn't remember or realize that the CV in could be an audio in. Quite fascinating. Mostly what we hear from Volca Modular demos is that horrible tin can sound, so this is quite refreshing.

      Thanks man. I'm slowly working on a patch collection video for it which will show what it can do. It'll include all the patches I've been using in my videos and a few new things

    If you take the volca kick, turn the volume to the max and turn the drive to the max you get a very ambient noise that you can also filter with the tone knob

      Thank you, glad to help 😁 The Modular certainly has the steepest learning curve of all the Volcas I own but it can do some really interesting things when you get to know it.

    This is amazing! I just got my volca modular, I thought I could only use the cv for pitch or gate, something like. I had no idea I could add external sources in like that! SO many possibilities! Great video!

    • @ChrisLodyMusic
      @ChrisLodyMusic  3 года назад +4

      Yeah it's pretty cool. Just recently I've been triggering my Bastl Kastle Drum using the Volca Modular sequencer and then running the audio from the Kastle into the CV in and then through the LPGs so I can shape the sound even more. Loads I can do with that 😁

    The options get better and better throughout the video, and the nts-1 made some great noise with the modular. I don’t have either, but seeing the possibilities is inspiring.
    That Murder She Wrote reference came out of nowhere! Really funny.

      Thanks man. Yeah it turns out the Nts1 is a bit of a monster when it comes to noise, so many options. Glad someone got the Murder She Wrote gag 😄 I'm not quite at the stage in my life when I need that much soft focus!

    I was mesmerised by your collections of synths and your obvious depth of knowledge…went to your channel about page, found your band camp…. Pressed on a random album track - in heaven…. Was the track at the beginning of this video one of yours too? All sublime stuff when artists actually understand sound theory and the tools they use 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤

      Ok addendum- feel like an idiot as I just found your podcast with your Sonicware Liven demo… you don’t just have the tools, you MAKE THEM 🤦‍♀ absolutely amazing 🤩 I have recently been looking at the Smpl Trek as a new acquisition- had no idea Sonicware made that !!

    • @ChrisLodyMusic

      Ha thanks very much 😁 I should probably get round to adding some more music to BandCamp but I quite like just making jams for RUclips. The intro music you mentioned is one of those that uses the technique I talk about: ruclips.net/video/1HvP5lbofGc/видео.html
      Well I don't really make them, Sonicware has to take the credit for that! But I do quite a lot of work with them nowadays on the sound design side and tutorial side of things which is pretty interesting stuff

    I just got mine, and after I guickly and easily found the sounds I wanted for a conventional use of it, I started experimenting with ways the VOLCA MODULAR can be used as an effect for my guitar. A reverb for example is the simplest. Now I'm searching for ways to use it as crude kind of SLICER. So you made some connections here I didn't think of. THANKS!

    Really cool tutorial especially using the NTS-1! I've just built mine yesterday and hope to get it connected to the computer for some custom sounds this evening or later this week. I was wondering whether you knew or could recommend any custom specifically white/pink noise based oscillators for the NTS-1 (Preferably free)? Thanks so much in advance and keep up the great tutorials!

    • @ChrisLodyMusic
      @ChrisLodyMusic  3 года назад +1

      Thanks very much. To be honest I only thought about the potential of a custom oscillator to produce noise as I was making this video, but I thought I'd keep things simple and stick with the stock Nts1 options. So it's something I've not looking into yet but I'd be surprised if there isn't something free available that will do it. I made a tutorial on loading some free custom content to the Nts1 by the way if you need it

    • @JabunAudio
      @JabunAudio 3 года назад

      @@ChrisLodyMusic No worries and thanks for the quick reply. I thought it'd be cool to be able to put the noise through the envelopes/delay in the NTS-1 for some drum synthesis options, so I'll have a look around and see if anyone's come up with a custom job like that. I've actually got that tutorial you mentioned pinned on Chrome at the moment! Great stuff and looking forward to putting it to good use. Thanks again :)

    • @ChrisLodyMusic
      @ChrisLodyMusic  3 года назад +1

      Thanks. You can't plug a mic in directly but you can do the voice technique that is shown with the cassette Walkman connected if you amplify the mic up to line out level first via a mixer.
