The first appearance of Statler and Waldorf from The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence. Statler performed by Jerry Nelson. Waldorf performed by Jim Henson.
I think they keep going to the Muppet Show, despite their unflattering commentary and all their heckling, because it's honestly better than sitting around waiting for the grim reaper
"No, he already came!" "What you saw there was our last moments." "Then some guy with a suit and horns took us to a big fancy stage, shackled us to two chairs, and said *'Welcome to your hell!'"* "BHO-HO-HO-HO-HO!" P.S. Let the fan theory begin...
I know they're not exactly fans of the show, but honestly, it seems like it's been good for their health. In later episodes they're shown to be full of energy and their wits are sharper than a razor!
It’s weird not only seeing statler and Waldorf not only being low energy but also sitting in the order their names are said in. It’s usually statler on the right.
I only hope that when I reach that age, I will have an equally demented friend that will go to shows and events with me so we can heckle them senseless!!
*Waldorf:* You know, it's about time we did something other than wait for our lives to end. *Statler:* (receives tickets to the Muppet Show) I think we just did! *Both:* Do-hohohohoho
Waldorf: hey statler. Statler: yes. Waldorf: when does this show ever end? Statler: well until the day we die and we don't have to watch the show again. Statler and Waldorf: do-hohohohoho.
The very first time that I saw Statler and Waldorf on The Muppet Show, after the opening act ended and that they took us to S&W, I didn't know that they were sitting in Theater Box. As a kid, I thought that they were sitting outside on the porch in their own home talking about The Muppet Show. Then much later on, the porch was facing the stage that I thought does their porch gives them free entertainment right by their own home? To make it even more crazy, I also thought that Statler was The Dad and that Waldorf was his son. I sure had some vivid imagination when I was young. Get this. For a Male Muppet, I also thought that Zoot was Statler's wife and was Walter's Mom. During The Season One Closing Credits, when they showed Zoot playing the bridge of The Muppet Show Closing Theme, I thought Zoot was playing the saxophone inside Statler and Waldorf's home not too far from the porch. I also thought that The Muppet Stage Pit had furniture, a small picture, a lamp and a fireplace all around Zoot. Much later on when I finally got to see The Muppet Show Sex and Violence on DVD, I finally got to see The Insides of Statler and Waldorf's Home. Very nice place. I was like is their home sharing the same building with The Muppet Theater? I was like "Man. Statler and Waldorf without a doubt get plenty of Free Live Entertainment in their own home. I knew eventually later on in life that their porch is a Theater Box, they're two old geezers and not Father & Son, Zoot is not the wife, mother nor even a woman, he's part of The Electric Mayhem Band. I knew that I would gain more knowledge about The Muppet Show eventually, but thinking about what I originally thought The Muppet Show was back then when I was a child certainly brings back great memories.
@@VictorGonzalez-xs9oc I already have the first three seasons on DVD way before Disney + came. Not to mention that I also have some of the episodes from the last two seasons as part of Best of The Muppet Show on tape from Time Life Home Video🙂
Waldorf: Man if I continue watching Our past selves I might die of boredom Statler: well at least then we won’t have to watch the other muppets try to be funny. Both: DOHOHOHOHO
I can't wait to grow old and retire in peace just like them. My wife doesn't have to retire if she doesn't want to, but I definitely can't grow old without The Love of my Life.
That's honestly kinda sad. Seeing them so old and tired. It's like this whole muppet thing was actually a prequal and we're watching the end of their lives?
Statler and Waldorf are never the fans of the Muppet Show, they only go there just to make fun of everyone performance on the stage, especially Fozzie Bear.
This is an unaired muppets show before the muppets show came out, this is what they used to sound like before they changed their voice on the muppets show.
So, basically, they were just sitting at home with nothing to do until they decided to go to see The Muppet Show with criticism on their minds. Could be a waste of time criticizing something you're a part of for many years. You see what I'm saying?
iirc he did it specifically to get ppl’s attention bc he thought just calling it “the muppet show”, no one would acknowledge it. So sorta? lol reminds me of why Matt Groening made ppl in the Simpsons yellow
Especially in that time! My guess is it was done to get immediate attention, and most of the people who watched the show would forget about the title or realize the show had so much more to offer than they initially thought.
...Wow. While the finale joke is pretty decent? This is...genuinely not that funny. Like, it's kinda awful. It's slow, ponderous, and the punchline doesn't make up for it. But...Jim Henson turned something awful, into something exceptional.
Later on they told Fozzie they couldn't sing, dance, or make people laugh on stage. Just like Fozzie. Guess now we know they weren't just saying it for the joke.
I think they keep going to the Muppet Show, despite their unflattering commentary and all their heckling, because it's honestly better than sitting around waiting for the grim reaper
Yeah, I think it's a combination of that, and the fact that they simply find heckling things to be fun (Because it IS)!
"No, he already came!"

They know they won't run into him there, he'd never slum it at the Muppet Theatre.

@@CheetahFoxx you may have something there.

God, the old Stadler and Waldorf were so depressing...
So, you're saying the younger ones aren't. HAHAHAHAHA
The two funniest old guys on TV. I miss watching the Muppet Show.
Guess what? All of the original Muppet Show are back on Disney Plus.

Well guess what? The muppets is back on Disney Plus, you can watch closely on the show so you can know what they are.

"The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence"
Well alrighty then
The muppet show was meant for adults, well in the first 5 episodes it was. There was a warning about it that said that
@@TheEmilyp2012 how the mighty have fallen.

Thank you for posting this
The way Statler and Waldorf act in this is baorrrrring.
Agreed. They're so much funnier when they're heckling!
I love those two old geezers!
My favourite old geezers
I miss these guys.. great job...R.I.P
They sound a bit more grandfatherly here.
That's honestly kinda sad. Seeing them so old and tired. It's like this whole muppet thing was actually a prequal and we're watching the end of their lives?
Talk about humble beginings
"Waldorf...Either at clock just stopped, or we just died"
I hope we just died so we don't have to see the muppet show again
Dohohoho
I like this set.
At 1:32 Waldorf sounds a lot like he did on the first episode of the Muppet Show (the episode with Juliet Prowse).
0:01 "The muppet show: sex and violence"
Me: Hol up-
Yep, believe it or not, that was the very first Muppet Show
In the words of Rufus from the end of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
"They do get better."
Great stuff
THANK YOU
Nostalgic
Thank god for video
Don't know why, but the sound at the end when Statler says "either that clock stopped or we just died" kinda freaked me out.
Very funny guys.
so Statler and Waldorf joined the muppet crew in the future?
Technically they almost never joined the muppets crew.
Statler and Waldorf are never the fans of the Muppet Show, they only go there just to make fun of everyone performance on the stage, especially Fozzie Bear.
The beginning and the end lines seem some thing the two would say in the actual show.
Statler, the FOX is new.
Thank goodness these two were re imagined in the main show, otherwise this would be depressing.
they depict old men so well
What kind of Adult Swim/Golden Girl show is this???
This is an unaired muppets show before the muppets show came out, this is what they used to sound like before they changed their voice on the muppets show.

From The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence
@AgentH53 You know what else is wrong? The way you spelled Waldorf's name :)
Is it me or does it sound like they are dying ?
Waldorf: To me it sounds like the muppet show.
Statler: What's the difference?
Both: Dohohohoho
There is something wrong here.
Walter and Statler are on the opposite places.
Good eye as a huge Statler and Waldorf fan I'm supposed I never realized that before
sTATLER AND WALDORF SIGNING ONTO COMPUTER IS GOOD IF YOU HAVE SEEN IT PLEASE SEND IT TO ME
@MuppetVoicesAndMore - LOL i was thinking about Jeff Dunham then :)
People can understand the difference
@collgoff I agree
Wonder why Richard didn't do Statler like he would do on the regular show?
It's not Hunt.
The original Hatewatchers.
So they were dead in 1975?
And things only got worse?
@thanhbites it sounds like they are dying
I guess that the first muppet show wasn't for kids ? With that title ?
Which is surprising if it is.
The franchise softened over time, but in the beginning, no, The Muppets were not aimed at kids and they wanted to make that abundantly clear.
0:01 Ayo did he call it s*x
who is the muppet @ 1:33
At 1:33 the Muppet on the left with the gray hair is Statler. The white-haired Muppet on the right is Waldorf.
So, basically, they were just sitting at home with nothing to do until they decided to go to see The Muppet Show with criticism on their minds. Could be a waste of time criticizing something you're a part of for many years. You see what I'm saying?
Never understood Henson chose such a title --especially at that time. I guess he wanted the Muppets to be edgy ?
iirc he did it specifically to get ppl’s attention bc he thought just calling it “the muppet show”, no one would acknowledge it. So sorta? lol reminds me of why Matt Groening made ppl in the Simpsons yellow

I read somewhere it’s because the whole episode was a parody of what’s popular on television, sex and violence
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@MuppetVoicesAndMore Those two are worse than Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy (Man) #EVIL
The ones from the first season of the muppet show were more funny then them these are boring
