Experienced snowy weather for the first time here in north Texas. I have to drive 45 minutes to get to work. This really worked on my car door but my vehicle isn’t made for icy road conditions and the roads in my neighborhood are still icy that I can’t get anywhere without slipping! I work early in the morning from 2am to 9:30 am so the sun hasn’t come up to melt the ice on the roads. Had to call off today. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you so much for making this video! I live in Dallas and it just snowed last night. My door was stuck today, I could open within seconds after using warm water and salt !
Cool trick. My doors froze up at work but luckily for me, a little muscle on my part got my drivers side door and passenger door open. Mine has never froze up severely. It really does matter what car it is and it seems like the SUVs are more adept to colder temps as are the pickup trucks.
Put some cooking spray oil on the rubber parts (that are in contact with the glass when the doors are shut) when you park your car for the night. It will help to stop the glass freezing to it overnight.
I thought I did mention to use warm water and not cold. Auto Glass is actually a bit different however. I would not expect warm water to damage anything unless you're -20 degrees.
Ya, I used to do that w hot/warm water (seemed to make sense at the time) and like OP it eventually worked but I saw some other videos and they said the glass could crack, so now I'm trying to use an alcohol/water 2:1 mix and then once the door opens, will clean and apply silicone spray to the seals. Wish me luck!

Sammy D oh if you are worried about that then you better not leave in your car at all during the winter time because the roads are covered in salt my friend. Will not hurt it any more than it is already going to get hurt.
I have a question for you. Sometimes in the winter I can get my frozen door to open but then I get in and the door won't close because of it being frozen. It just pops back open. Any ideas in that case?
Sounds like you're lock mechanism is really freezing yp inside. I would get a can of lock de-icer and put it in the key hole and or spray it on the latch on the door.... that would be a pain to deal with I am sure!
I have pulled out a few times, just holding the door closed (I know that is terrible but a girl has to get to work - smile). Thanks so much for your help - will try it.
The best way to prevent this from happening is to NOT BUY a car that depends on the window moving to open the door! I mean, if where you live NEVER (and I mean NEVER) gets below freezing don't worry about it, but everywhere else... use your brain and don't buy a car that relies on an unnecessary accessory that is prone to failure that will keep you from even opening your damn door! 🙄🙄

Try alcohol and water putting spray bottle
Might take 20 minutes to melt in very cold. But it works.

A little muscle doesnt work for mustangs lol the window needs to b able to go down in order to open

Nah just don’t make it to hot and u won’t have a problem, only do a little at a time
what do you do if you window got stuck half way frozen and stuck there, can u still pour the hot water

Be careful about it if you’re not sure about window will open don’t unlock the car , I damaged my window regulator motor

2002 Monte Carlo did this to and still can’t get it pissed me off and I ended up putting a lil dent by my door

Yes if you use hot / boiling water. 👍 I did make sure to mention that in video. Use warm / room temperature water only .

Better not drive in winter on road then. Snow plow truck dumps it all over the road and it gets all over your car and drys up to a white powder.
