You should do the patio in the back of the house and use it to process your wood when its rainy. Like a small garage but multifonctions.

I said the same thing. That space in the back is quite large. I was thinking they could probably put solar panels on one of deck roofs. Guess that’s limited to how many panels they would need where the sun is facing, etc. But like he said, I wouldn’t want to be poking any extra holes in the roof.

Corrugated metal underneath the decking allows drainage to run off and protects the underneath surface. You may not have the product there. Such great, gentle, kind loving people. So enjoyable to follow. Love the idea of the back deck functioning as a dry workspace underneath.
Was just going to suggest adding zincs below and a gutter too! Wild wonderful off-grid has a video of them doing below deck roofing.
Window Boxes with red geraniums are very common in Germany ..... and beautiful

The "window boxes" - have you lined them with membrane to stop water in the soil rotting the wood over time ?
I caulked all the sides + waterproofed the deck in top of it so no water should be getting to the wood
@@thejunglecoupleThat won’t last long. You really need to either put a plastic container in there or line it with something. Even with sealed wood and caulk it’s just a matter of time
@thejunglecouple@@scareddog5450 agree 150% !!! Needs to be lined but possibly some drainage tubes beneath and gravel in the bottom so that you do not end up with your plants floating in a mini-bucket of stagnant water (which attracts mosquitoes)

🎉 Instead of putting up another structure create a roof off the tool shed like a carport. This way the tools will be right there and you can keep the space/property open and not cluttered with buildings.

I just wanted to take a moment to say how impressed I am with the amazing work you're doing! You're both doing a fantastic job.
I have a suggestion from my side here in Flensburg, and I hope it can help streamline the process a bit. Instead of spending time building a temporary workstation, it might be more efficient to go ahead and start constructing the supporting structure for the deck. Once that's in place, you could simply stretch a tarp over it. This way, you'd be setting up something more permanent while still having shelter to work under.

Build the deck on the back and work under it. It will have two uses with one build. You can also have steps that come up from the ground onto the deck so you don't have to walk all the way around to the front of the house. WIN WIN WIN

Putting silicone between those little deck boards is not going to be a good long term solution because as you walk on the boards they will flex & the silicone will age and crack/separate from the boards. I don't know what it is ... but you will need to find more of a full coverage solution. Place is looking so homey!! Love it.

Get a large piece of plastic and attach it to the top of your sitting area that you leveled out and built. You can use that as a work station. Or get a pop up canopy. Not sure if they sell those in Panama.

YAY for da Jungle couple!! I admire you both so much. I spent quite a bit of time in Germany during the 10 years my son and his wife were living there... I also have spent a lot of time in Mexico and lived in Belize... so I would say the different countries have SUCH a huge difference in customs, and traditions. My father was of German/English and Swedish heritage... I have felt my roots were from Europe, but I married a Mexican. After many years of marriage, I am still learning more about customs and practices... You both must be very adventurous people... Just keep loving each other and you will prosper in life! I love watching you grow your homestead and improve your home.
