- Vote for me here - Go to bit.ly/vote-renman. This is the second lesson in series of 5 lessons I submitted to Truefire for their "Next Top Guitar Instructor" contest.
In this lesson, I'm adding the Major 6th to the Minor Pentatonic. Sweet sound!
I am using a Line 6 POD HD500 for the tone, with an added overdrive pedal called "KOi".
Thanks for your support!
Visit www.MasterGuitarAcademy.com if you want to learn more from me.
Good stuff Robert. This method of simply adding notes to the minor pentatonic is so much easier than trying to learn new modes.
Thanks Chris!
Your videos are so helpful in expanding vocabulary of basic pentatonics. It makes things sound so much more interesting.
I've been playing for over 15 years and i have learned more from your videos in a couple of months than what i did all over the past years, thanks you very much for sharing, god bless you Sir 😄 regards from San Luis Potosí, México
+ricardo benitez Thanks, glad you like my work.
Love the tri-tone at the end of the lick: major 3rd plus minor 7th of a four chord is a tasty treat for the ears.
Thanks for the support!
There wasn't a non-lick lesson like this in a long time. I hope the truefire contest goes on forever...
Glad to hear this - it's a new set up for me.
Thanks!
You got it going Robert - I dig it that you include tab with your lesson material also, it adds extra value for those of us who have to practice a lick 180 times to get it smooth and fast...
As always, well done! I can see the picking hand, the fretting and and the overall view...plus the tab! True professional in sound and technique.
Thank you
Line 6 HD500 and KOi overdrive pedal. Thanks!
Glad to hear, thank you!
Sounds really fancy and tasty, thanks Robert! Lovin' these lessons!
I like the way you film your video, I can see! im not lookng at your knuckels! what a pro! Been looking around UT, and you are one of the best,THANKS! Keep up the good work
Good to hear, thanks!
Adding good color, great lesson.
Sometimes, it can be used that way. The HD is more versatile, but I also like the M series, because they work more like regular pedals. Turn gain/volume knobs, etc, and the settings are instantly saved. No need to go into menus and save separately. I like that a lot.
Robert,
I just voted for you for this week. Great lesson as always. Good luck in the True Fire competition!
Bob
Thank you Robert. Keep up the good work.
Another really sweet lick. Thanks for the lesson!
You got my vote!
Excellent! Always a pleasure to hear you and learn something new!
You are a blessing! Thank you so much!
You are welcome
Another great lesson--builds on what I already know.
Good stuff. Been working on the first couple of lessons in this series and it has been interesting. Thanks!
This guys tone is sweeter than honey!
Thanks Lee!
HAPPY NEW YEAR Robert ,keep doing it ,great lessons, Frank UK
"Why Won't You Come" - John Mayer ... reminds me a lot of this.
Thanks Robert. Looks like I have an M-something in my near future. Best of luck with TrueFire -- I hope you win :)
Great lesson Robert and wonderful guitar sound...I love it!!
Great lesson! Thanks Robert
Thanks Dolphin!
Best guitar tutor on the www
You are welcome, thank you.
Thank you!
Robert cracks the "code" opening horizons ;-)
and nice sustain as well
Love it! Ty!
After searching the internet for many months for a proper guitar instructor, I found you on RUclips. I am glad I did. You are so knowledgeable and break down things in an easy understandable way. Do you have a pay site?
Thanks, glad you like my guitar lessons. Yes, I have a site called Master Guitar Academy. That's where my best work is.
hola Dolphin ! Exelente video me están ayudado mucho. Saludos desde Costa Rica :-) eres un gran guitarrista y profesor.
These are great ideas for lessons with adding the different notes to mix up the pentatonic so thank you for that however I would have liked to have seen the new note that is introduced in each video to be isolated because with each video the notes keep getting added so towards the end of the series it becomes increasingly harder to differentiate which is the new note by ear
Foolish me! I should have asked you first! - LoL! - Great Lessons All!
One more thing -- I know you're busy, so ignore if you don't have the time. Debating between an HD500 and a M13. Do you ever run the HD in front of your amp (not via FX loop) and disable the amp models? If the HD can be used as an M13 type stomp box alone without coloring the amp it seems to be the more versatile choice of the two. Thanks.
Hi Dolphin
Great tutorial and awesome sounding videos
What amp or daw are you using here (if any)
I dunno about that... but thank you.
Another great lesson as usual. But I just got confused a little bit about why we call the F# as thje major-6th instead of just 6th.
(F) is 5+, whereas (G) is: m7. As a chord; A Major6 (A-C#-E-F#) is OK. However in terms of defining the degree, isn't just 6th would be enough to determine?
Thanks, they are Porter Pickups. I love them. porterpickups,com/products/strat-pickups/vintage-custom.php
dude you are cool
What kind of pick ups are in your strat, sound nice thank you
i honestly now see the blues as a giant chromatic scale that you just chip away at
I am very glad all your lessons-Thank you-How can get an electric guitar as you, because i can't bend like you( i use a Legend guitar) another guitar is very expensive?
Perhaps you can get a Fender Standard made in Mexico. They are not hugely expensive.
Thank you, but in VN there is only Fender made in China, is it OK?
hong danh Sorry I don't know anything about Chinese Fender guitars.
He is playing in a Custom shop 59? worth around 5k or more, badass guitar
+Franco a No this is Mexican made Road Worn Series Stratocaster.
As this is progressing, I'm seeing more of a Major scale here lol.
That's right! All the greats mix major pentatonic with minor pentatonic.
@@jamesdietter4567 THAT they do. Its sweet music.
Sounds pretty much like BB King!
adding the major six degree makes it a dorian mode?
Almost. The Dorian mode has 7 notes, so if you add 1 note to a 5 note scale, you have 6 notes. If those 6 notes fit into the Dorian mode, you could kind of view it that way. However, to complete the Dorian mode, you need to add the major 2nd/9th too.
tnx for the answer!
haha well thank you for your time anyways!
Who invited BB King? ;)
Thank you!
THANKS!
Thank you!
Thanks so much!
