hope you enjoy remembering this legendary horror graphic adventure released in far 1986 ;)
I played it for the first time in 1988 (I was only 7 and the music really scared me!)

OMG !!!! the Music ! the memories !!
I had finished this after many tries in a friends house that could afford a C64 :)
Our satisfaction was really great, the music score was amazing and we were ..ehh really young :)
The legend that u could somehow kill the vampire still goes on !
I just had it in the background for the music. Awesome tunes.
Who's here after Snorre Ruch mentioned this in Black metal documentary?
Castle of Terror had such atmospheric music. C64 Classic.
Who gets it?
POKE 53280,1: POKE 53281,1
lower case?
Snorre Ruch of Thorns brought me here.
Before Skyrim, there was Castle of Terror.
Wow. That'd take an enormous amount of alcohol and drugs to black out all the years between those two games. :D
Very nicely and fast drawn, and have very atmospheric music. Really good game.
if only you could beat it.
there is a rope... unbelieveable, OBJECTS: you can see nothing... it is total scam, i came here because i already spend 30 minutes trying to SPEAK to old man in Inn....just unplayable... oh he isnt "old man" he is a "man"...
1: i was 6, nonetheless this game terrified me.
2: I was much more terrified in the first part, entering cottages and inns, wandering about desolated graveyards and abandoned churches etc. The second part was sort of a disappointment for me, I was lke, "The outside already makes your hair raise on your head. Don't wanna think abt the inside". Instead it felt like alchool free beer.
You're right. The first part also terrify me much more than the second. Although I must say that the second when you die because the count bites you, made my hair stand up and caused me a not indifferent childhood trauma
@@Mogart81 he he true indeed. it's amazing how, after 35 years, all the memories about the surrounding world are very fuzzy and washed out, yet feelings like fear or pain remain pretty much intact for the rest of the life.
I also really enjoyed this game as a younger chap, especially the music. Entered Ludum Dare last year and wrote a Psychedelic based graphic text adventure with music and did it in 48 hours. Been wondering how much of an Audience there would be for a modern incarnation of this Genre.
Definitely one of the BEST C64 games of all time, the music is incredible, better than music today
shadowgate on nes i loved and im sure this is fine
thanks! when i was kid, i simply arrived in front of castle... this game was really helpful to learn english language
i searched on net for possible solutions but is IMPOSSIBLE killing the bloodsucker
Unfortunately i do not play this game :(
Nice graphic adventure. Never finished it though but the great graphics and memorable music still make this game a classic today.
I was stuck at some point but I'll be back
OMFG!!!!!! Memories!!!
When will part 2 be uploaded? Can you kill the Count or does he escape through the tower window?
In poland 1987
Huge inspiration for the Norwegian Black Metal scene, believe it or not, haha!
especially for Snorre Ruch
@@gorthaur3323 That's who I was thinking about, he in turn made the famous riff-style.
Amazing, my fav game! Have just put on an emulator so thanks for capturing and the memories!
Shit you are SKILLED in this game. You use the parser as if you were writing poems, you move throughout the game wich such elegans and dominance.
Me it took WEEKS to complete ut and here you do it under 15 minutes. Thumb up for you
there are many solutions on the net that say there's a way to kill him, otherwise others that say no. I already complete the game, but the count escape from the window. You sholud kill him with the spear (if there's a way to broke it)....
by the way I'll upload the 2nd part soon ;)
Come on where is the 2nd part?
Now is available ;)
I remember this game... it was very creepy when I played it as a kid :)
I'm wondering: is the theme song some classical piece or is it composed just for the game?
what a great upload, this is classic adventure gaming at its best. played this all summer long still didn't kill drac though...
OMG I loved this game! But it took so long to load the thing up that I gave up after a while.
did the second part of this get made, I cant seem to be able to find it
Where Castle of Terror, part2 is? This is legendary game I like, and there was a video of second half of the game, but no more. If someone has it, please share it in RUclips. Hello to all Castle of Terror fans.
I'll upload the second part soon... I'm happy to see much people remember that game.... :)
Great game in great maschine. Good work!
I remember when I discovered the rung that was the greatest day of my life! We were stuck at the draw bridge so long not knowing where to get a locking pin!
my mate was the same. He eventually found the rung and then the second part wouldn't load and 35 years later he still hasn't finished the game
sphincter sphoncter sphancter
Is has a wonderful melody
Hi, maybe someone here can help me... As a kid I played a game, kinda like Castle of Terror, but I am not sure if it really was this one. I don't remember the name and I didn't get far in the game. But the story fits, the village, the hay, the gate... But one thing I know for sure: I always died in front of the castle cause the Vampire appeared as a bat and bit me! Is that possible in this game?? Or does someone know wich game I am searching for?! Thank you!! :)
kleinscheiss hi! the game u looking 4 was in first person like this one? could be Hassle Castle or Transylvania....
Hi, thanks for the answer! :) Yeah, it was first person. I checked Hassle Castle, that wasn't the game I was looking for. Neither Transylvania... But thanks anyways!! Or maybe I just have wrong memories... ;)
Might be Dracula by CRL?
does someone know the name of this music?
It was written for this game. But for the main theme, the composer borrowed heavily from Chopin: "Prelude Op.28 No.20 in C Minor"
Not that I'm complaining. It was often things like this (and tv-commercials that introduced me to classical music when I was a kid).
