Want to see how I get my underwater footage? Take a look at two methods for underwater filming: one which uses a long pole, and a unique castable rig that uses fishing line, a sliding swivel and a 5 oz cannonball sinker.

I came up with 2 different setup I'm really enjoying for filming fish underwater. One is a simple fixed rig that involves an extendable pole, pyramid sinkers and a clamp mount for action cameras. The second is a camera rigged on a sliding swivel, which you can cast either by hand or with a heavy rod. The slider keeps the camera and weight together as one unit so there isn't any risk of tangling. It was actually partly inspired by the helicopter rig, which is used in carp fishing over heavy weed and sediment.
I'm not gonna lie: it took me many different versions of the castable rig to figure out exactly how to avoid the spinning and tangling of the camera/mainline. What I came up with is, in my opinion, a pretty solid rig that I haven't had tangle yet. It keeps the camera faced in one direction and involves minimal gear, and can be adjusted to film in different levels of the water column.
Let's try to get this video up to 100 likes!! Drop a comment down below: Would YOU try these rigs out? Are you interested in underwater filming?
I'm really hoping to do some deep-water filming this summer so look forward to that!

So cool man!
Awesome!
Thank you for sharing. Glad I found this video. How do you stabilize the camera underwater to prevent it from spinning?
Excellent! It's fun to see how you accomplish the footage in the other videos!
Great video. I really enjoyed it
Thanks!! 🐟🎣🙏
Very innovative!

I Love this kind of videos showing the fish beauty when they are swimming under water. Nice.
Love this video man. Thanks for making it!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🐟🎣
Nice video! I like the idea of the floating camera. Our affordable alternative to the 15ft pole is a golf ball retriever found at a second hand store. It’s a great collapsible aluminum pole about 10-15 ft long!
That's awesome!! Great idea. The Doca pole is sweet cause it collapses down to 6ft but I honestly like the castable rig the most. Thanks for watching!!
@@EParkFishing That cast-able one looks awesome! The golf pole collapses down to maybe 4-5 feet which I love too!
Well Done, Sir! Your other videos make it look easy. Fun to see behind the scenes!!
Thank you for the comment! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🎣🐟
woah. This is cool! I'm going to give this a try!
Nice to share the info bro 🤙😎
Nice video, Enjoy next time
Thank you for watching and commenting!! 🙏🐟🎣
Thanks so much for this bud. I actually already use a 7 metre painter's pole for filming, but I am having rotation issues as the river I use it in is tidal. I like the idea of maybe just casting my gopro like you did. Please post if you come up with any new ideas, cheers from England
That's awesome! Yes I'm working on new designs and maybe 3D printing a rig so look out for that! Cheers!
Thx
Genius!!!!! Can't wait to try in unison with nymph fishing.
Seriously great video.. I have a few places I am convinced there are big fish hiding and I will defo be trying some of these later in the year. I think that adding a 3d printed fin to it so I can stabilise in the current of the river will make it perfect. I really love the idea of using tackle that will break in the right places is a super idea.. Thank you again for the hard work.
Thank you!! That's a great idea! I like to use the pole for heavy current and find a break in the current like behind a rock. The bobber setup is better for still or slow water. Yeah it's so fun to check it out just make sure you have bright lighting if you can. Appreciate ya! 🐟🙏
Wow! Never would have thought of casting out with a float- camera rig.
Awesome video I caught my first trout today love watching your videos
Congrats! Glad you are enjoying the vids! What kind of trout was it and what bait/lure did you use?

Wow
Great setup! I was looking for a video like this about a year ago but could not find anything. You must have just posted this right after I was looking. I would love to see an update if you have made any refinements.
How heavy of a rod are you using to cast out the gopro with the casting setup?
So awesome. I cant believe i didnt think about the bike adapter for my stick. What a game changer!! Thank you so much for the idea, I used it today while fishing. It worked like a champ!!!! I got some cool vids of some bass swimmin by. 👏👏👊👊👌
That's awesome!! Glad it helped!
Does anyony use a fishing reel to convert it into the cable management system? I am thinking to use a slip rings connector for this agenda but would like to get some details prior to buy the parts.
Good evening fella.
I wonder if you could please help
I have a Sony action camera and looking to cast my camera out. Although I'm quite nervous with my camera costing 350 looking for something that will help me not loosing my kit do you think this would work on my set up or shall I look for something different
Thankyou
Very nice video brader.. 👍🔥.subcribed
Thank you bro!!
Appreciate you sharing this Elliot! I was just discussing with my fishing buddy, my son, how we can learn by seeing fish underwater. Now subscribed!
Any specific recommendation on the snap rating to pull through without it accidentally flinging off when casting?
Awesome thanks for subscribing and welcome to the channel! I've got a link in the description for the castable rig -- I recommend the 66lb/3# size of the snaps. Amazon makes you buy 100, so you might want to hit up a tackle shop! Hope that helps! Let us know how it works for ya!
the link for the castable rig does not work, could you paste the links for the camera bobber and the swivel?
This will be great for checking some River pools. #Deerfield
such a cool idea! does the camera transmit? or do you just evaluate it after the fact.
Hey I never saw this comment! It is not a live feed, but the yellow bobber helps you get your bait in front of the camera. I recently took it down 53 feet and could see it clearly!
Nice videos, keep up the great work!
Try rigging the camera to the underside of an RC boat. Either with a line or fixed so you know from the direction of the boat which way the camera is pointing.
Thanks! I want to do it on the lake with some lures trolling by boat this summer.
How do you get around filming upside-down *?
I just edit the video and flip it around
Great solution to the spinning camera. I can find everything you show for the castable rig except the red piece. Not sure what that is. Can you help? You link to the amazon set up looks like it expired. Thanks very much!

Thanks. Used the same exact setup in the gulf today. Worked perfectly!!! What a great and simple solution that I would have never worked out on my own. Now I just need to get rid of the green in the video!
Random!
I like your casting rig but I think you can improve on it. So carp fishers like to know the exact depth where they are fishing so they can fish the entire water column. To determine depth from shore they use a "marker float rig". Its similar to what you are doing but one big difference you can adjust the height (depth?) of the camera from shore after its casted out. The first thing you put on the line is a weight this can be with a small leader and swivel, the key thing is the weight is free to slide along the line. After the weight you tie the float with the camera. Then to mark determine depth (or set the camera in you case). You cast the entire to the correct location. The carp guys use huge spinner rods for this so a surf pole with heavy test seems to be in order. Once the weight lands on the bottom. you can then start to slowly let out line. The float should be pulling up on the line while the weight remains in place releasing line allows the float to move to the surface. Gently reeling in the line will allow you to make the float descend to the "casting weight". Once float is back on the bottom and no more line can pass through the weight eyelet that's when you will start to real in the weight. The carp guys map out several depths with this method. Similarly you should be able reposition the cameras to any depth along from the position of your first cast all the way back to shore. Here is a video of how to use a marker float ruclips.net/video/4BGnu3FK6ks/видео.html
Does it film upside down?
Good question! The Akaso EK7000 has an upside down mode. I believe the GoPro automatically flips the recording and display when you put it upside down. Unfortunately the V50Pro doesn't have an upside down mode, so you have to flip the recording with a video editor. So it depends on the camera. Tight lines!
I will be watching the vid soon IV or reddy 👍t it hop it’s a good won like Évery uv won 🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣
