A note: I miss spoke and said the mini 2 has optical zoom instead of digital zoom. The Mini 2 zooms digitally, but maintains full high definition because you're cropping down from 4k. Should have mentioned wind resistance! With any small drone, wind can be a problem. The spark is heavier and thus naturally deals with high winds better, but the Mini 2 has this new fangled thing called "level 5 wind resistance"... No idea what that means. I'm going to guess that the extra weight in the spark and the better programming in the mini 2 kind cancel each other out and both drones have comparable wind resistance ratings. *Shrugs*
Level five wind resistance means that their will be no noticeable shaking or swaying in post at level 5 wind speeds, those being between 19 and 24 freedom units
The Spark is like a rock with a prop and handles wind very well. I've had the Mini 2 in gusts of over 100 kph and it handled it well enough. Although it did drift and I didn't dare fly it more than a few metres away from me. You have to be mindful of the wind with the Mini and plan your flights around it accordingly as it will struggle against a moderate headwind, which slows it down considerably and drains a lot of battery.

Important point missed 1. Wind stability: The reason why Mini 2 has level-5 wind resistance like Air 2s,is because of more powerful motors. Motor dynamics and programing is so much improved in mini-2. I fly it in coastline with 30-35kmph winds and it handles it like a piece of cake,while on 20-25kmph wind,Spark will struggle to even take off. 2. 3axis gimbal -i have looked into both footages and i can say mini-2 is 300% more stable 3. Even if the resolution is not taken into consideration,the Mini-2 capture s more details, the sensors are same however the image processors are completely different,hence the video quality. I have seen my friends struggle to capture cinematic footage in spark while doing the same with ease in Mini-2. What i expect in Mini-3 -add more weight (make it micro) -obstacle avoidance,active track,log shoot in video I have the mini-2 flymore combo,with charging hub (3 battery),i can take so many footages all day with these 3 batteries and get it charged in the night,it never disappoint me so far
Still prefer Spark or Air 1 ( gestures, smartphone control ) I often used gestures to make quick group selfies on holidays, when you fast walking on trip, no time and space for extra controller. Just click power, fly, make few photos and back to the hand...Really great.

Really cool editing for the transitions man. Also I'll add: I had a spark that I bought used spark a year ago for $250 (it was a fly more combo too, I got a heck of a deal lol). I sold it for $300 and bought the mini 2, and ho-lee-poop. The crazy good transmission improvement is worth it alone. I feel like anything even close to normal flight paths you're gonna have solid hd transmission to your phone. I don't really use the 4k since its way to backbreaking on my older laptop in editing, which means the 4k cropped to 1080p zoom is totally awesome. It packs super easily and I I love using it for hiking. The 3 axis gimble in something so small is another massive jump. The battery life... Personally, I say 100% get a mini 2.
Thank for the tips, hi from Lima Peru, South America. Two things for saying good bye to my Spark, the unreliable wifi signal and battery duration. My flights were a little over ten minutes with the Spark. And the lost signal, always gave me the chills. Unfortunaltely, here in South America is so expensive. I will have to wait till someone buy it for me in the USA. Keep up the great videos.
I'm just gonna add some extra features that helped me decide to upgrade to Mavic Mini 2. First, the 3 axis gimbal is a very important thing to me, cause I love making videos with my spark, but even I try to fly very smoothly, I miss the third axis for a better shot. Second, the option of downloading some parts of and not the entire videos. Really good for my cellphone storage and easier for editing. Battery duration, 4K resolution, digital zoom, 3 axis gimbal, better app: these are the main reasons why I upgraded

I have a Spark since few days and I’m very happy with this Drone. She has a great Active Track Mode and flying stable in the Air, I had become the Drone with three Batteris, Controller, ND Filters, Bag, Batterie Power Loader and Propellers for 220 Euros 🙂

Spark is one of the easiest DJI drone to hack. No fly zones, no altitude caps, and you can change the parameters so it has a 50 mph top speed and a 20 mile an hour ascent/ decent. Almost a poor man's DJI FPV, though smaller and can't flip.
I just pulled the trigger on a DJI Spark from eBay for $219.00. Was that a good choice? I've flown drones a pretty considerable amount in the past. But haven't owned one in a year now and have never owned/ flown a DJI. Thank you and awesome channel. I'm watching all your videos now...

Important to let people know the mini doesn't work with the googles (out of the box; there are apparently ways to hack the devices to work together with separate wifi transmitters)
Ive started with mavic pro and then bought the mini and i was so used to the occusync that at one time i almost threw controller out of anger because of too many wifi disconnections the ocusync is waaay smoother it only start signaling about conection problems when you reach mile and a half ~ in a semi urban area
I wish my spark was as indestructible as yours, flew it all the time but one night I flew it as high as a street light and let it hover while talking to some friends and I don’t know what happened but it fell out of the sky and got destroyed, if that hadn’t of happened I would have never gotten the mini 2 I enjoyed my spark, have a lot of useless extras for it now

I wouldnt get the mini 1 now that the 2 is available. I would even probably pick the spark over the mini 1 because of wind resistance and durability etc.
Hi! HELP# I always fly my drones over the bay, since here in Miami Beach, FL, where I live, is a crowded area with many tall buildings. I already crashed on the water the Mavic Mini and the Mini 2. My mistake is that: While using the left joystick to rotate, I keep lower the altitude by mistake and forget to check it. I get very distracted looking at the video images. Why the drone doesn't have a "Low Terrain warning" or "minimin altitude reached warning" that I could preset to, let's say 10 or 20 meters, so it sends me a warning when it gets below that altitude. Especially over the bay waters where I can't receive it? Thank you!
I absolutely love my Spark. The ONLY downfall that the Spark has is its flight time. I have bought 3 extra batteries for mine. But other then that I love the camera quality on my Spark. I also have over $600 invested into mine, but I just do not see buying another $500 drone when my Spark works just fine for my needs. And TBH even if I had $500 to blow I still would not buy the Mavic Mini 2 . Only because absolutely love my Spark!!! If you don’t have a Spark..... BUY ONE!!! They are awesome drones!!!
I crashed my spark a year ago and now it won’t calibrate, it’s physically damaged jus maybe knocked the gps out of whack do you did just I fix it and pay or buy another spark for 250$ or get a mavic mini 2 for 300$

Joe, I just upgraded my original Mini to the Mini 2 and one word OCCUSYNC, I just flew the the Mini 2 way past where the original Mini crapped out on me so for me well it as I live in Canada so I don't have to register or get a license.
I have the spark and I love it, I'm currently using it to hopefully start a business with it eventually (after I get a part 107 license of course). Where can you find more batteries for it? Is the cheapest battery I can get really $150? That just seems like too much
I would definitely recommend the Mini 2 over the Spark for professional work. I just bought one and the RAW photos and 4K are essential for the work you’ll be getting into.
DJi could have used the Spark combo set as their best $ 100 value Drone deal by giving it an price cut, This 100$ value drone would have coutperformed all other drones that are sold for the same price. While their side project(Not there drone) Ryze Tello, should have gotten a price cut, down to $ 50 for the combo pack. Which would have put the Ryze Tello as the best backdoor and Toy drone out there for 50$.

Hello ,in Range ,Kamera, Gimbal ,Flighttime ,the Mini 2 is much better than the Spark . The Spark is the PERFECT Selfie Drone. Under 500grams Active Track ,Follow me, Sensor and to use without Phone or Controller, for short Pictures.
I loved my dji spark drone but the flight time makes me very unhappy. When you raise the drone and climb to a certain altitude, it is equal to land in 5 minutes. The real flight time of Spark is 5 minutes for me. It is dangerous to travel more than 500 meters with the Spark drone.
@@JosephMartin I love it but find myself comparing it to the pro 2 too much. When I initially bought it I didn’t know much about cameras and drones and would’ve happily paid the price for the pro 2 knowing what it can do. But with the right settings and light the air 2 still delivers amazing footage
Justin Clarke is it worth saving a few months and getting a mavic air 2 over a mavic mini 2 I have a spark and I need wind resistance but it’s so expensive.

Like professional drone user if you have Money buy both of them Sparks and mavic mini 2 completly amazing drones with Spark i dont agree with you you can use selfie mod with No Gester control you can capture good quality pic on no possíbale way ONLY with your heands mavic mini 2 cannot do that both of this drones perfect in they way you cannot find any câmera or cellphone câmera with FHD. That shoot pictures or vídeo the same as Sparks does Sparks have unique FHD câmera better that any smartphones and câmeras out there + if you prepare and know what to shoot 13 minutes Will be more than enough i have both of then and i use both of them using mavic mini 2 for my trips because of its battery life and ocusyn Rage i film whole city with it Sparks i use like câmera drone selfie drone to pictures Impossible moments like from mountains selfie or from balcony using my heands but mavic mini 2 have no sensores like Sparks does i mean 3d obstacle avoidance or landing sensors Precision landing só its no recomend for begginers
@@JosephMartin easy to make that mistake. I did it, too. Conditioning is hard to break sometimes. By the way, I have the Spark, and the Mini 2. Like them both. Both very different “feels”. Experienced pilots to continue working on their flying skills as technology changes. Just a thought.
...yeah, picture quality and perks are one thing, but the mechanics of flying these things also need to be taken into consideration. I also have the Phantom 3 pro and the Mavic Pro-all very different in handling from one to the other. Kinda like going from an Automatic to Standard transmission. Yeah, we know how to drive, but they are both very, very different.

I crashed my spark a year ago and now it won’t calibrate, it’s physically damaged jus maybe knocked the gps out of whack do you did just I fix it and pay or buy another spark for 250$ or get a mavic mini 2 for 300$

Joe, I just upgraded my original Mini to the Mini 2 and one word OCCUSYNC, I just flew the the Mini 2 way past where the original Mini crapped out on me so for me well it as I live in Canada so I don't have to register or get a license.

I have the spark and I love it, I'm currently using it to hopefully start a business with it eventually (after I get a part 107 license of course). Where can you find more batteries for it? Is the cheapest battery I can get really $150? That just seems like too much
I would definitely recommend the Mini 2 over the Spark for professional work. I just bought one and the RAW photos and 4K are essential for the work you’ll be getting into.
DJi could have used the Spark combo set as their best $ 100 value Drone deal by giving it an price cut,
This 100$ value drone would have coutperformed all other drones that are sold for the same price.
While their side project(Not there drone) Ryze Tello, should have gotten a price cut, down to $ 50 for the combo pack.
Which would have put the Ryze Tello as the best backdoor and Toy drone out there for 50$.
Im sure they would not have made a large enough profit on each selling them for $100. But it would have been nice for us customers!

Hello ,in Range ,Kamera, Gimbal ,Flighttime ,the Mini 2 is much better than the Spark . The Spark is the PERFECT Selfie Drone. Under 500grams Active Track ,Follow me, Sensor and to use without Phone or Controller, for short Pictures.
I’m not sure really I feel like the air 2 is good as it’s more wind resistance which is important but double the price it’s hard to justify it.

I loved my dji spark drone but the flight time makes me very unhappy. When you raise the drone and climb to a certain altitude, it is equal to land in 5 minutes. The real flight time of Spark is 5 minutes for me. It is dangerous to travel more than 500 meters with the Spark drone.
Totally agree! The battery life is the worst part
no way, my drone with stock auto 5.8g often goes 1500meters range, it could do it twice.

Id say probably the spark because it is heavier, but I hear the mini 2 has good wind resistance built in as well!

@@JosephMartin I love it but find myself comparing it to the pro 2 too much. When I initially bought it I didn’t know much about cameras and drones and would’ve happily paid the price for the pro 2 knowing what it can do. But with the right settings and light the air 2 still delivers amazing footage

Like professional drone user if you have Money buy both of them Sparks and mavic mini 2 completly amazing drones with Spark i dont agree with you you can use selfie mod with No Gester control you can capture good quality pic on no possíbale way ONLY with your heands mavic mini 2 cannot do that both of this drones perfect in they way you cannot find any câmera or cellphone câmera with FHD. That shoot pictures or vídeo the same as Sparks does Sparks have unique FHD câmera better that any smartphones and câmeras out there + if you prepare and know what to shoot 13 minutes Will be more than enough i have both of then and i use both of them using mavic mini 2 for my trips because of its battery life and ocusyn Rage i film whole city with it Sparks i use like câmera drone selfie drone to pictures Impossible moments like from mountains selfie or from balcony using my heands but mavic mini 2 have no sensores like Sparks does i mean 3d obstacle avoidance or landing sensors Precision landing só its no recomend for begginers

@@JosephMartin easy to make that mistake. I did it, too. Conditioning is hard to break sometimes. By the way, I have the Spark, and the Mini 2. Like them both. Both very different “feels”. Experienced pilots to continue working on their flying skills as technology changes. Just a thought.
...yeah, picture quality and perks are one thing, but the mechanics of flying these things also need to be taken into consideration. I also have the Phantom 3 pro and the Mavic Pro-all very different in handling from one to the other. Kinda like going from an Automatic to Standard transmission. Yeah, we know how to drive, but they are both very, very different.
Interesting! I never considered how they might handle differently in the air. I dont have my hands on a mini 2 so I wouldnt be able to make that comparison, but I didnt even think about it!
