    This is so cool, great job 🎉 can even be combined with regular SK6812 on a single data pin by of course feeding separate voltages swapping the channel terminals around so that GRBW order ends up being correct :)

    Excited to try this out thanks for sharing this stuff! What you do seems really well thought out.
    Quick question about amperage: I notice a lot of manufacturers list max amps, but the total number of watts depending on what power level you choose can vary wildly (36watts at 12v vs 72 watts at 24v for example) is amperage really the only thing you need to take into consideration? Is heat dissipation for the 36w vs 72w a concern?
    Edit: ah man 2khz for pwm is a deal breaker for me 😞

    Back when I started on this journey, I didn’t know the difference between digital and analog leds. I bought a bunch of 24v rgbcw cob lights that are 6 wire. Would be nice if this board could control all 5 colors.

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  6 месяцев назад +1

      Sadly there are not really supported chips out there which enable that digitally. Once there are I'll certainly make a new version!

    This would be super easy for doing stairs with effects.
    Does WLED allow 2 or more motion sensors? You want a motion sensor at top/bottom and on landings. Would need some stair 'effects' added too

    Does this also work with strips with two different white LEDs (different color temperatures in one strip)? Thanks.

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  8 месяцев назад +2

      If you use two of the other colors as controls it would, the board has 4 channels just by default it's assumed these are RGBW but you can use them for anything you like, just control wise in the softwares it would look like that.
      Sadly there are not supported RGB+CCT chips you there that WLED also supports.

    Hi, is it possible to use just one quinled dig uno or quad with two dig2analog modules in order to connect that setup (1x contloller board + 2x dig2analog) to one SK6812 5V rgbww (4m) and two Auxmer 24V dumb led (2m each) via the dig2analogs ? If that setup is possible, do i need two different power supplies like one for 5V and one for 24V? Or I have to use two quinled dig boards with two different (5V, 24V) power supplies?

  • @kaizoor

    This would be a nice addition if it could enable to add a high cri CCT strip

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  8 месяцев назад

      Sadly there are no real RGB+CCT chips that WLED also supports. You can however use it as 2x CCT if you want, just software control wise it won't look right since it assumes RGBW for the 4 available channels. Nothing preventing you from using them different though and making presets so you don't have to think about it again!

  • @andrewpbclarke
    @andrewpbclarke 4 месяца назад

    cool little board. I know you now have dedicated analogue controllers but these you have to build. So, can you use this to control only white leds, with just 2 wires, like your second strip or does it have to have a RGBW first?

  • @evlo8059
    @evlo8059 8 месяцев назад

    Oooooo, interreeting , i think it can still have it's usage when analog is out, would be nice if there would be 5channel addresable chip in the future
    Also limit is 24v even if used only as interface to control analog strips?

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  8 месяцев назад

      Sadly no RGB+CCT chips out there that are also supported in WLED. So RGBW for now.
      Power runs directly through the MOSFETs for analog so yes, 24v limit in this case.

  • @ArnaudGohier
    @ArnaudGohier 5 месяцев назад

    This is great, do you think i can drive a CCT white strip with it in addition of a RGB Adressable strip if i'm using same voltage strips ? Would sending something between red and blue adjudt the CCT mix ? Thank you and keep up these great products !

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  5 месяцев назад

      Yes for now that's the best way to do CCT on them. If everything is the same voltage it also makes it easy to connect it all, but you can run different voltages of you want.

  • @bstrutton

    Quick question. I recently bought a quad and a dig2analog. What really well manufactured hardware! Just incredible.
    I'll be using the products on the boat to run 3 24v cob strips. I also need to control the 4-pin RGB LEDs (like 1 in center frame) on four 6.5" Infinity speakers.
    I am assuming that's a use case for the dig2analog and my pointed question (finally) is if I'm ok w/ all 4 speakers doing the same thing, can 1 dig2analog control those 4 and how to wire or do I need a dig2analog for each of 4 speakers?
    Thanks!

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  23 дня назад

      Thnx! Yeah you'd need 4x dig2analog for that, each would act as a single RGBW pixel.

  • @konichila

    Thanks for the video. I am new at this. So i wonder if i can combine 5v rgb strips with Auxmer 2835 Wwcw 12vor 24v on a dig quad with this dig2analog? And can i use a 12 v or 24v power supply to power all of them. Sorry if this is the most neewby question ever :). I am trying to learn ...

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  5 месяцев назад

      Yes all of those combinations are possible, it's exactly why I developed the board! You can use the same or a different voltage that the Dig-Quad is running. So the Dig-Quad can run 5v and then you can run the dig2analog with 24v. You just need 2 power supplies and between the Dig-Quad and the dig2analog you only connect data+GND

    I have a strip of LEDs that are dual white. One channel is WW and the other is CW. The idea is that you can combine the brightness of both channels to get different Kelvin value of white light. Could I use this with a single board or would I need two? How would WLED be configured then?

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  4 месяца назад

      You can use it with a single board just WLED won't really understand what's connected. So in the interface you'd have them connected to say Red for WW and blue for CW and then mix those colors to get your desired temperature. That works fine. I'd recommend creating presets for what you use most so the you don't even have to think about it anymore.

    Asking here in hopes that you answer me since I am lost :D
    I have 3 x 5m BTF-Lighting-24V-FCOB-528L-W (14W/M) strips, thus analogue white strips with just 2 wires and want to run all three of them as 'one long strip'. I already bought a dig-quad before knowing they were analogue and really want to use it.
    In order to use the dig-quad, I can just buy 3 x dig2analog and connect them as shown at 19:12 (1 power injection at last one, 3 strips in total) correct? Meaning dimming and adding a wiz remote to control all 3 strips at the same time is doable?
    Some noob questions if you have time to spare:
    I do not have to connect the individial strips to make one long one if I get 3 x dig2analog, right?
    Could I alternatively get just 1 dig2analog and connect the strips + do power injection directly onto the strips? If so, would you prefer this or 3 x dig2analog?
    If I need 2 power injections (inital one + 2 for the other strips), I do not need to add another wire pair from the power supply to the dig-quad but just use the output of another fuse, right?
    I need to run 16 AWG for power injecting the last strip, do you have recommendations for connectors that I need at any point (PSU dig-quad / dig-quad dig2analog / dig2analog strip)? I see a few of them in your videos but don't know the names since this is new to me.

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  4 месяца назад

      Let's see!
      You can wire it both ways really. You could use 1 board and use 3 channels, although you might run into the 3A total limit, you can up that to 6A but then you still might. The second way is using 3 boards then you'd have 3x 3A in total and although these will be treated as separate pixels as long as you have it set to solid for instance they will be treated exactly the same and that would work fine. You'd have to try and see if you can have all the negatives connected or not and you need separate wiring for them, I haven't tested that.
      So your questions:
      Yes if you all have them individual they will still act as one.
      Power injection directly won't work with Analog/PWM strip since the negative/GND is used for the PWM.
      Power Injections for Analog always go through the PWM controller, in this case the dig2analog but be mindful of the board and channel limits.
      Connectors it's a bit hard to say, WAGOs are often useful or otherwise spade crimp connectors.

    • @markusdittmer3402
      @markusdittmer3402 4 месяца назад

      @@IntermitTech Thank you so much for taking your time to answer viewer questions and producing those boards :)
      Just to omit misunderstandings: Getting 3 x dig2analog and adding power injection from a separate fuse from the dig-quad to each dig2analog is the (safe & sure) way to go?
      I don't quite understand what you meant by '[...] if you can have all the negatives connected or not and you need separate wiring for them [...]'.
      Connecting the strips to try to make them 'function as one' when wiring 3 x dig2analog? (Apologies, this is my first LED strip project)

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  4 месяца назад

      @@markusdittmer3402 again you can go both ways, you can either use a single say 10A fuse (if the wiring can support that in a shorted situation) or use 3x 5A fuse for instance, the latter in theory is slightly safer but not by much (as long as the wires are rated to handle the current).
      So with Analog strip the brightness is controlled by pulsing the negative side with PWM. Injecting power isn't so much a thing since normally it would have to come from the exact same channel and MOSFET to do so and the dig2analog isn't designed for that with it's 3A limit (per channel). Thus you'd have to use multiple channels and thus also multiple MOSFETs (either on the same board or not) and if their timing doesn't align that could cause weird issues. So the safest way to do it would be to treat each 5m strip as an individual strip and not have their negative sides connected in between each other, the positive side shouldn't be an issue (as long as it's coming from the same PSU). This works very differently vs Digital LED strip hence why I'm trying to explain that. :)
      And no worries about being the first project, maybe also come to the Discord server, easier to discuss these kind of things! :)

    Is it possible in WLED to have a different led configuration (RGB, BRG, RGBW etc) per segment?
    I would want to control RGB strip on segment 1, then on a second board for segment 2 have WW/CW (2 channel strip).

    • @IntermitTech
      @IntermitTech  6 месяцев назад

      Yes and no. Not in a way WLED will actually understand it at least. Generally I'd advise to use a second data channel for the dig2analog then because otherwise mixing RGB and RGBW for instance would become problematic.

    • @samturner4406
      @samturner4406 6 месяцев назад

      @@IntermitTech hmm ok thanks. May be a bit limited by number of data channels vs 100's of possible analogue boards/segments when chained.
      Maybe a good project for someone to add this feature to WLED 😁
