i asked my mom during the 80s pops is numkber 1 in the charts shes even bigger then sharon and regine no one ever broke her records of concerts and albums she is like philippine madonna which is weird cos madonna started at 1983 and pops at the same year lol
During her prime, walang international artists na nagpupunta sa Pilipinas...so Pop's concerts were popular outlet for the Pinoys, cause she is the only one who did concerts with some semblance to what international artists do...lots of dancers and top 40 songs in her repertoire. She also used highly trained dancers like Hotlegs and Whiplash (they had the technical skills to dance a la top international artist's dancers), not like TV dancers like Dyna, Wea or Octo arts dancers na puros repetitive movements lang. kaya nung panahon na yan, hit na hit si pops sa concert scene. she is actually dubbed the concert queen of the Philippines. that generation also liked her kasi hindi sya considered masa, parating sosyal ang image nya, pa english english. mayaman ang aura.
Obviously,kapanahunan ni Pipay ito kaya appropriate lang na kantahin nya. It's a celebration of her 25th Anniversary nga eh. She's a real performer. I love the 80's! Go Pops! :)
