In this solo from a 2018 Summer Namm afterparty, "Futureman" Roy Wooten uses sticks, rods, fingers, and a Sleichman double pedal to play both sides and the shell of a custom Mothertone bass drum. It’s got three spurs to allow it to be placed like a floor tom. Wooten said he takes the drum on tour with Bela Fleck. These drums use a cable-tension system to ensure even tuning. The pitch is changed by turning one drum key. He even bowed the cables with a violin bow at one point, but we were too transfixed on the moment to catch it on camera.

This is incredible! I mean, he's essentially showing you don't have to have a kit to make percussive sounds and create rhythm. You have to have rhythm of course but outside of that, he took what is a weird setup and turned it into a fantastic example of musicianship using minimal equipment.
Imagine talking during this.
Musical legend pouring it out on stage, but lets talk amongst ourselves.
It was a little odd to hear so much talking during the performance, but then again, it was a party/hangout atmosphere (and there was a bar)
@@DRUM That makes more sense. The stage doesn't look like a bar or club. Still...Its Futureman! Man!
I don't get what he is trying to demonstrate with this set-up.
"That...is why you fail" ;)
