    Asia I believe you are a good steward and even though you make these videos for us to gain insight into urban gardening it’s your homestead and how you run it is up to you. You raise quails to cull for food and you tried something different and it was not the result you wanted. How things work for one of us watching has no influence on your final decisions for your space. All that you do we learn from and we take what we need and we leave the rest and that’s what you have to do for yourself in your home. Thank you for caring and letting us learn without judgment. ❤❤❤

    Hey Asia I love how you are so transparent and know exactly what to do on your homestead . I see a lot of people mentioning Neosporin my suggestion would be to try Manuka Honey its natural and it works extremely well on open deep wounds. I would love to see another culling video.
    Side note.. I should of mentioned this on your other channel but I would love to see how you clean your cast iron pan after cooking beef hash or meats in it.

      Hi! Thank you! I want to be as transparent as possible to help others. Ok, thank you! I haven’t heard of that but I will look it up. I appreciate the suggestion.
      Ok, I’ll work that in. I recorded once and post the footage 🤦🏾‍♀️.

    Hey Asia! Love your honestly and transparency with your homestead.
    FYI, I believe you are only supposed to lock the lid of your crockpot when you are moving it (I.e. transporting something in it). When you’re cooking in it, the lid shouldn’t be locked as it could build up pressure and potentially break the glass lid.

      Hi 👋🏾! Thank you. I want to be a real as I can for the sake of others who want to do this as well.

    I've had this issue in the past , I use Neosporin to heal up the head wounds. It works great and keeps the wounds from getting infected. This would happen when they just had the small house, when I made them an additional run area and left the doors open everyone had room to run and get away. Never happens again.

    Hey hey, Asia!! I love that you’re using tallow and venturing into herbal tinctures!! ❤😊
    As a suggestion, using a silicone spatula would remove up to 90%, if not more, of the whipped tallow from your bowl. And, another helpful tip when decanting your tinctures, using cheesecloth to strain your herbs will allow you to really squeeze out the oil/alcohol.. be sure to do this over an ultra finely mesh sieve..
    Keep up the inspirational videos!! ❤

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  8 дней назад +2

      Hey!! Thanks, I’m loving it as well!
      Thank you for the spatula suggestion. I’ll do that the next time. I normally will put the herbs through a cheesecloth (I actually said it in the recording but cut it lol). I wasn’t feeling my best so I just didn’t this time.
      Will do! Thank you 🤗

    You can get lights that all link together so you only need one outlet to run them. Barrina sells some, good to get ones with switches on each light so you can easily turn them off even if they’re all linked. But even without switches they’re very easy to use and I love having just one plug.

    Hi Asia I’m learning so much from you on quails. I’m seriously considering getting some. My daughter is trying to discourage me. She said the meat of quail tastes like duck. What’s your opinion on that?

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  5 дней назад

      O yay! I’m happy to hear that! I can agree with that IF it is not cooked well done. I learned that the hard way lol. I am not a fan of duck. I make sure it is good well when we eat it, love it that way. I prefer the breast of it. I’m not a big fan of the legs but the breast is lost of the meat anyway. Hope this helps!

Folks a/ c units froze over .child Florida don't like them extremes 😅😅😅.My garden did ok .I didn't cover Jack, but my young citrus tree.I can't be babying those veggies. I got some good food from them.I will see if they bounce back. It's collards and cabbage, so they SHOULD be ok.❤ I can't say Jack how folks run the show where they pay taxes 😅

    I don’t like integrating chickens. Too much stress!! Whenever I get new ones, they have to go in their own coop. I experimented with making my own body butter before the holidays from tallow I made a couple years ago. I mixed in some coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil & essential oils for a nice scent. I put in cute jars and gave away as gifts. Everyone ❤ it!! My daughter especially likes to use it in her hair. I ❤ it on my poor chapped winter hands, but it is good head to toe.

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  8 дней назад +1

      It’s pretty normal behavior when integrating. Chickens do it too. The next time I integrate I’ll put them all in a box for a little while before putting them in the coop together. In my research I found that this could help.

      Hi Asia. Great video. I should have commented before, but on all of my research & experience, the best way to integrate birds is at night when they are sleeping. When they wake it will feel normal to them. I have seen other homesteaders do this successfully. Just information 😄 Hope this helps. Good job. I like the way you handled potential naysayers before hand. Admire your integrity.
