Patrik in undoubtedly one of the best pianists on RUclips. Alot of the songs he covers are beautifully played and even his own pieces are amazing.

You're just ignorant of the facts and developed an opinion prematurely.
Patriks arrangements have already been done years before he even came along.
By little korean kids on electones no less.
Patriks "original music" is basically just rip offs of other much more skilled pianists and composers.
You need to broaden your horizons because you effectively file into a % of the world who think they are intelligent but in reality you're dumb enough to believe fake news. Likely not even smart enough to tell the difference between a legitimate opinion, facts of a matter, and your personal delusions.
They ARE very different things.

Now youtube: AI plays X. Replace X with whatever the hell you want, begin to analyze the differences among different AI hands, try to pay attention to the similarities. Now ask yourself "Why do these pianists do midi playback videos instead of live performance videos, it's not that hard to stay anonymous after all?!" The answer is very singular and simple.
You have been following, idolizing, and worshipping a fake pianist like the other million people without a brain to think for themselves. Good job. Meanwhile there are thousands of real pianists in the world working for the money it costed them to get there. Isn't that great?

What I love about Patrik's style is that, in comparison to other piano arrangers, he sticks to the original pieces a lot, he does a lot of fancy stuff but it always sounds so similar to the original tune.
I'd suggest you looking to his arrangement of "How to train your dragon", "Kung Fu panda" and "The Gladiator", some of my favourites from him.

Same for me, i also like a lot his "Jurassic Park" medley in this regards!
If there is one song I cannot stand to hear anymore it is Hans Zimmer's Interstellar theme. But here comes Matthew and plays a stunning version for 30 seconds and I am all in love with it again. So well done.

Nice video, as always. That sextuplet left hand reminds me the The Piano soundtrack main theme by Michael Nymam, called The heart ask pleasure first. I love that piece.

I enjoy watching your videos.They are very informative and easy to understand 😊.Please react to Patrik's "Lily's Theme".Its one of the most hauntingly beautiful and difficult pieces arranged by him:containing diverse arpeggios,superb dynamics,and the combination of various theme music of none other than the harry potter and the deathly hallows part-2. I listen to it everyday and I'm waiting for your reaction on it. Its very difficult to convey the emotions of a such a theme music on piano and being a potterhead, I know the fascinating story behind it and how it has been conveyed on a single instrument.😌
PS: Patrik has controlled some of the dynamics of that piece on his software rather than on his hands,but again,its extremely difficult to have a piano arrangement of that theme which can convey its feelings thoroughly.

I think Aminenz and Patrik need more videos from you about them, patrik has arranged much much much harder songs compared to the one you reacted (interstellar is one of his easiest) to such as flight of the silverbird, journey of life, duel of the fates and same for aminenz
at least you reacted to the avengers theme cause the thing that is really coming out of patrik's arrangements is the arpeggios that's he's so good at
Jesus don't put patrik in the same category as Animenz.... Animenz is astronomically better in every way imagineable.
Animenz is a real superpower pianist who performs insanely high level pieces LIVE.
He is mentally and physically on a level patrik will never even touch upon.

@@pathofexile-testosterall533 i don't agree with you tbh i don't like most of animenz pieces cause i don't like the songs i'm not a big anime fan and his way of playing is always the same you can have a look at his 200 songs video it gets boring after 2min of listening it's only jumps jumps and same rhythm i feel like patrik is way more pianistic and beautiful to listen to at least that's what i think. Btw i was not comparing them just i just wanted matthew to do more video about them. Btw it's patrik's choice to not perform live but i bet he could he's a very very well trained pianist. I'm personnally way more into movie themes than anime songs that's maybe why i prefer patrik. Btw i've never said patrik was better than animenz so idk why you brought that out by saying what is wrong with me.

In order to create synthesia-like videos people use a whole lot of editing software.
You don't even have to actually play using these methods in 2024.
Have you not seen AI pianist studio setups?
Do you not know what it means to draw a midi file and synch some hand movements? I'd guess not because you're so ignorant that you could live for 1000 years and still be as brain dead as an average sheep. In fact, at least sheep rely on realistic things to arrive at conclusions instead of delusional nonsense.

1. Patrik uses software to create his videos which requires very little real skill.
2. You have an anime profile picture and here you are accusing me in negative light of "being an anime fan" do you have any idea how cringey, childish, and nonsensical this is? Apparently not.
3. I am a real musician who takes production of music vs performance very seriously. I have 0 respect for people who fake it in their bedrooms, because the fact is they CANT do it on stage. Otherwise they WOULD. Simple fact of the matter. Not an opinion.
4. Patriks content can't even prove he isn't just an AI. Look at the AI pianist projects here on youtube and ask yourself very plainly "Is this similar to synthesia midi playback youtubers?" You will find no matter how you ask yourself, it looks exactly the same. I guess I can't tell you what you really are, but you can ramble on about your delusions and how you disagree with concrete facts.
5. Let me know when you have spent thousands of hours at the piano and learn the difference between fakers and real musicians. Until then, have fun pretending people drawing in a DAW are comparable to people with real reputations in the real world. Until then, don't even bother replying, you're just making yourself look bad.
P.S If you're not even 18 years old stop talking nonsense online, nobody with real world experience wants to even associate with people like you, nor do we care about your inability to interpret the difference between your OWN opinions vs your OWN delusions. Iappreciate your passion for music and your dedication to live performance. However i believe there's misunderstanding here. Patrik's use of software doesn't diminish his creativity or skill it's just a different medium.
regarding your points
1 - skill in software : creating music with software doesn't mean patrik has nothing to do he uses something looking synthesia so people can see the notes played to animate the video.
2 - Real musicianship : the world of music is vast and inclusive. many renowed musicians create and perform in different ways including using software. What truly matters is the iompact of their music not the method.
3 - Ai and authenticity : comparing patrik's content to ai generated music is an oversimplification. The heart and soul that a human puts into their work can't be easily replicated by ai. Patrik's creative and effort are evident in his content.
Lastly age and experience don't necessarily equate to wisdom or credibility. in music many young people have achieved remarkable things but if you want to know I'm over 18 since i'm 20 years old.
I think you're being hypersensitive about animenz, i've never criticized his music he's a very very well trained pianist and i've never something else. As i said i just wanted matthew to do more videos about patrik and animenz and you've answered with hate.

Hey Matthew, great video! I just think he needs to play with more emotions and a little rubato here and there. Btw I’m thinking of maybe buying myself an acoustic piano, because I’ve been playing for 6 years now. Which piano would you recommend in this situation? (I’m not rich btw😅)

fun fact, I tried to learn this Interstellar arrangement maybe 6 months into learning the piano, gave up after the crossed hand section
seeing as you react to youtube pianists, I think it'd be interesting for you to react to Kyle Landry's Interstellar arrangement (imo the best there is on youtube), or really any of his videos (some of my favorites are his 2016 rendition of Dearly Beloved, his arrangement of Musique pour la tristesse de Xion, and his arrangement for A Beautiful Song from Nier Automata).
Into the more classical pianist, I've always loved Kassia's rendition of La Campanella, and Cateen (or Hayato Sumino's) own cadenza of Hungarian Rhapsody from Liszt, think you'd like watching these two (Cateen is a marvel, his rendition of Ryuichi Sakamoto's Thousand knives is so good)
I watch those vids when I just want to hear some interesting piano music and I have the time to listen without being critical. Really prefer looking at those things when a well-known 19th century composition by Chopin is featured.

@@matticawood I watch those vids because I sometimes get an idea of how the tune is constructed. I noticed that many Bach left hand cords are simple two note lines played like pedal tones. I see the same in a lot of later music that is famous and often heard. My serious attention is direct toward Classical Guitar. Siccas Guitar and Oh Guitar are my most frequent targets on RUclips.

Nice video Matthew! I've seen some very notable names from the youtube piano community here in the comments which are undoubtedly great pianist, but all very well known. One name that I see less often, but is one of the most technical pianists I've ever seen as well as an extremely creative arranger is Yui Morishita, sometimes called by his online name "Pianeet". His arrangement on Akiba Pop is mind blowing from start to end featuring difficult arpeggios, large leaps, intertwining "four hand techniques" and extremely creative arranging, ruclips.net/video/hJA1OY2NJsY/видео.html. Can u do a review of How to Train your Dragon? Songs like "Test Drive" or "This is Berk" are very famous and John Powell (the composer of these) even got nomanted for "best film music" in 2010.

Patrik is the goat, but for me as a beginner (so my opinion doesnt count lmao) you picked the wrong pieces for your reaction, there are other pieces which show his skills even more, especially his own compositions, but great video anyways!
I totally agree with you, a RUclipsr has done a tier list ranking the difficulty of Patrik's pieces and the ones he picked are down at the bottom even tho it's doesn't mean there are easy but just easier compared to his other arrangements.
According to tdunc piano his hardest pieces are : immaterial (his own composition), journey of life (own compo), duel of the fates, flight of the silverbird etc...
Ofc he didn't ranked all of his pieces so there might be a harder one but from the one he ranked these are the hardest he thinks. I would have liked that he react to these ones but maybe he will in the future

The day he stops displaying these shining columns which shows the pitch and its duration, he will lose 90% of his followers. He is a good entertainer but an ordinary pianist.
