I'm not sure if it's the sort of charity you are looking to donate to but Southall Black Sisters are amazing. They work to help black and ethnic minority women (and their children) escape abusive relationships.
Keep speaking out 🧡
This is why you're my favourite influencer, you actually address issues without the fear of your numbers dropping
omgg when she talked about brands and unfollowing because the shade range and no promise of action. I felt that in my soul! thank you, thank you, thank you!
when sophie said that its important to learn and unlearn that hit differently
THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT IT UNLIKE OTHER GURUS who are just taking selfies with their posters....
i don’t feel they are being genuine by taking selfies at the protests-you are doing the most with openly discussing this on your channel!! ❤️
Sad that gurus won’t discuss it on their channels bc they probably don’t want to lose business with brands smhhhh
Love this ❤️ especially the acknowledgement of the origins of a lot of tattoo art- as white people we are indebted to so many other cultures which initiated the music, art or fashion that shape our own identities. A lot of people seem oblivious or unwilling to make this connection.
Sooo true!!
Thank you for being one of the ones to speak out. Everything you've said is so spot on and everyone needs to hear it, to understand it, to support it. I'm glad our generation and those younger are stepping up and doing the work older generations haven't completed. 🖤🙏🏾
Love u loads, but, would love to see you end your partnerships with fast fashion brands such as PLT etc. The reason their clothes are so 'affordable' is because people of colour are exploited in order to make them. Taking a stand against fast fashion is a huge step towards racial equality. X
Had a lot of conversations about this recently and trust me... once the contracts I have at the moment are over I’ll be rethinking a lot of who I work with. X
“Your jokes are never funny, I don’t get it” 😂
yes ma'am we aren't accepting any performative activism!! love you so much!
I work for Superdrug and deal with L’Oreal products lot and I remember (maybe before xMas)they had a black model on there posters promoting there foundation range the next month the same poster was there again with a different offer and this model had been edited to look darker than her actual skin tone, I thought it was absolutely disgusting and asked the manager if an email could be sent out about it but he said L’Oreal won’t do anything about it (by the way the issue I have with these posters was the fact that they changed her skin tone to benefit there brand more, when they could have just found another model that is the skin tone of the product they want to show off) they should have models of all races anyway but come on... very very shady brand
Wow I was literally nodding my head throughout the entirety of this video. Everything in which you said came from the heart and I thank you for using your platform to highlight these issues. You literally took the words right out of my mouth concerning everything. Thank you 🖤🖤🖤
it’s so rare to see someone so beautiful and with such a big heart !! 🖤
Loved this video. I don’t normally comment on your stuff but I enjoy watching you and your content and this video was very nice ❤️ you’re very rational and informed. Thank you for uploading this!
Yes! Glad you're in tune with what's been going on! You look lovely, as always.
you are seriously such a great person. So lovely and honest, it's just beautiful. 💓 It is so important to talk about serious topics and educate about those. We all have to listen and to learn, as well as to stand with people who need help, always.
You are one amazing woman! You’re brave, you’re smart and you’re kind. Thankyou for using your platform to educate people! This is why I adore you as an influencer, because you actually use your platform to spread positivity and to educate people on important subjects such as the black lives matter movement. Keep doing you! ❤️
Being from a minority born and raised in the uk. I need to agree with everything you just said. Also I have experienced racism in London, and seen racism by the police too. An elderly neighbour got caught in the middle of a fight on my street. All the neighbours were out and witnessed this, however no one spoke up when the police came. Also the police just told everyone to go home, I tried speaking to them but they told us to go away. (I was 14 at the time) They never came to ask for a witness statement. The old man was of colour, and all our neighbours were white. So don’t tell me the uk isn’t bad.
Loved watching this Soph! Really well spoken and informed video, thank you for using your platforn to spread kindness and this important message xxx
I absolutely love that you use all of your platforms to voice your opinions on real life issues. It is nice to see someone who keeps it real. You are so beautiful inside and out. ❤️
Thank you for using your platform and speaking out 🖤
These are the exact conversations that influences need to be having. Made me love your channel even more.
‘United we stand, divided we fall’. Thank you for your courage to speak up. ❤️
Ultimately from the very first moment that I had the honour of coming across your enigmatic presence on Instagram and RUclips, I can wholeheartedly confirm that you are assuredly wise beyond your years, as you manage to embody the utmost refreshing, authentic, honest, genuine, kind hearted, open minded, and the unwavering active ability to live and speak your truth in all situations, to which I am sincerely grateful for your presence within this community! This is a necessary, vital, and dire situation, and I agree entirely in regards to everyone utilizing their platforms/voices/outlets during this time more than ever before, because the Black Lives Matter movement will ultimately succeed if we all hold ourselves accountable and do what we can to cultivate change!
I'm so glad you spoke about this. I've been so happy to see you doing your bit on Instagram, quite a lot haven't and if you've got a platform it's so important.
We all need to help educate ourselves and others, unpacking our own privelige and companies need to do more than try to gain monetary gain or just make a tiny statement and doing nothing.
"It's the ultimate disrespect to want these people's money but not want to acknowledge them." Literally no one could have said it better Soph 🖤
Sophie has the best heart!!❤️ such an inspiration for so many I expect! But to me aswell, whether that’s in life or with my channel💘💘💘
Love your insta and how you have used your platform here too..all about us all being open and honest..think you a great allies and speaking up against the hypocrisy! ❤
Thank you for speaking out and continuing to educate yourself. I appreciate that, and you made a lot of important points in this video. Please don't stop talking about this, even when the media strays away from the subject. Thanks again. P.S you look so pretty as always!
i’m so glad you did this! people really need to hear it, and if they won’t listen to us, hopefully they will listen to brilliant people like you 🤍
Beautifully said Sophie 💖✨
I didn’t get any Ads 1st watch so came back and just got one Ad at the beginning for 2nd try for some reason lovely. I’ll keep coming back though sweets!
x
Love that you are addressing such important issues, and using your platform to make a positive impact 💖
An amazing charity is the Stephen Lawrence charitable trust, they do such amazing work!
You're incredible
You’re amazing I love your perspective on life and all things in between. You’re so wise for your short years like the rest of us. Most gurus or influencers aren’t interested in things that are deeper than the shallow.
Thank you for this video Sophie, beautifully spoken words. You have a good heart and I do believe we are the generation of change! Xx ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this! ❤️ Change starts now and talking about it is the first step!
We live in such a cruel world! thank you for being so pure and kind x
This video is brilliant! Thank you for using your platform for the betterment of change. ❤️
Sophie thank you so much for giving such a raw and genuine stance. This was so refreshing and I'm so happy to have recently discovered your channel. Please don't ever stop having honest conversations with your followers like this,THIS is what people want to see. I can tell that this is truly how you feel and it's just really reaffirming how inadequate some influencers and brands have been when addressing this topic.
I recently just discovered you only a couple of days ago, and I have become a fan! Your vibe is so chill for real. You do your own thing and don't fall into the mold of "what's popular." Your videos have been very fun to watch, but I must say that this video struck a HUGE chord with me. (I teared up while watching) Thank you for being so aware and trying to make a change. This world can be A LOT, and as a person of color, this year sent me into more of a mental tizzy. I appreciate you using your platform and standing up for what is wrong and right, which a lot of people tend not to do. ❤️
Thank you thank you thank you for using your platform. Your voice has an impact and makes a difference.
I love your videos because of how articulate and insightful you are. Fully down to earth and so intelligent. It's so good to hear white allies explain the problem and acknowledge their privilege and platform without trying to get attention for themselves or to make themselves look good
thank you for using your platform to discuss the current civil rights movement. a lot of people on youtube and instagram have gone VERY quiet and some have gone as far to defend their silence because they aren't "political", which is despicable and apathetic. so pleased to be following someone who uses their (more privileged) voice to better educate others and call them out. xx
Besides how important the topic you're talking about is, and how much I agree with every single statement you made - I absolutely think you should make a podcast, you have such a calming voice that I would listen the hell out of it. Also, love your makeup and your style in general. Lots of love from a Spaniard fan x
Thank you for using your platform to educate and bring awareness to the racist atrocities people of color and especially black people have had to endure for centuries. BLACK LIVES MATTER ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
Thank you for sharing and speaking out! You're amazing inside and out! x
in this split world full of hectic it's so nice to watch videos which were created by people with empathy, love and respect!
❤️
Love your honesty and the way you express what you have in your mind, keep up the good work!
loved youre unafraid clear statements!!❤️
Thanks so so much for making this Soph. Agree with all your words, this is such a frustrating time but your video is bringing a lot of light to everything x
I as a black woman am so grateful of people like you who take the time to educate themselves and use their privilege and platform to combat prejudice.
keep speaking out and using your voice - it's powerful! you using your voice will inspire others to use theirs.
I just discovered your channel. I respect you so much for speaking about this topic. Not only police brutality but the beauty industry. The world needs more people like you who want to see change, who aren’t afraid to start uncomfortable, important conversations. People, all people need to start seeing themselves when they think about George Floyd, Breonna Taylor or Ahmaud Arbery etc and how they would feel and react if it was their father, son, brother, daughter, mother, sister who was treated in that manner, if it was them or someone they loved who was murdered...murdered by those who are supposed to protect. A call to 911 shouldn’t end like this. This isn’t something that can solved by the black community alone and I think that people are finally starting to realize that. I really hope that this is the start the world moving in the right direction because enough is enough. Again, thank you again Sophie for your video.
Subscribed! Beautiful! your message, your make up, your soul, just beautiful!!
Some really truthful statements were thrown here. I'm honestly really thankful of you making this video.
Love that you're using your platform to discuss issues that are important. This needs to be talked about more often. As for the books you talked about, could you list some? I'm always looking for new books to read that are informative and educational.
I’ve seen quite a lot of “influencer” videos the last few days, yours is 100% the most genuine and informative ❤️
Watching your videos makes me so happy. You’re an amazing youtuber who needs more publicity ❤️
THANKYOU for sharing this. EVERYTHING that you have expressed is 10000000% TRUE!! if only more people would think this way! Super happy there is people like you xxx
GIRL I knew you were a real one. Thank you for your solidarity!
Thanks for educating us love 💗 it’s helping me a lot, I needed to hear all of this 🙏🏼
absolutely loved this! so good to see videos like this to help others talk about this to family + friends :)
thanks Sophie ,you are right in saying there is so much ignorance . even in my surroundings .im a Brit and live in France ,And even here it's like ,,,Oh your still a Brit after living here so many years . Unfortunately I ve no family left in. England ,as I do prefer it .I have black friends and have always supported Native Americans ,also persecuted for their origins . I'm lost for words ,and feel very emotional .lots of love .
Sophie, you have to be the sweetest person on youtube. Your aura just glows with positivity. I loved this
One of the most beautiful people I’ve ever seen 🖤
Yess thank you, thank you for having the right mindset and talking about this
Just came across this video, and all the statements made are so true and I have huge respect for you.
Thank you for not being afraid to make these statements.
I just love you 9999999x more after this video ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for using your platform and speaking so intelligently about this
You always keep it real... Thank you!
THIS IS HOW YOU USE YOUR PRIVILEGE AND YOUR PLATFORM! Sophie you’re amazing! Love you 💕
So much respect for this video. Thanks Sophie x
From me to you Sophie, thank you. I have been angry for days. Deleting anyone i see silent or just post a black square, but not talk about these issues. Much love. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I thank you so much for giving your opinion on this topic. It really means a lot and I’m glad this is becoming a conversation. ❤️
you’re so beautiful inside and out and such a big inspiration🖤
this was such a good discussion of everything that’s been in my head over the last few weeks. we’re in this together and we should be proud to be making a change🙌🏼💕
Damn, Sophie, I felt this video on a whole new level. Thanks for being true.
Needed to be said. Thank you Sophie.
Color of Change!!!!!! It’s a great organization that helps racial injustice in the world. Thank you!
I love your opinion on this I’m south Asian and watching this video makes me feel good knowing you have formed this opinion based on what you’ve experienced. I agree with everything you have said. People are just posting stuff and not actually doing anything and your right with the Kardashian’s culturally appropriating cultures that they don’t acknowledge what so ever it’s a joke.
Love this Sophie, you're one of the only genuine influencers out there.
Wow thank you so much for all of this.
Wow as a black subscriber i am really happy to hear and see your an ally love ya kween!
This is well said!!! I’ve seen so many people writing hateful speeches that if you don’t post on social media you are the problem.. I’m mixed race and it actually offends me when people say that, I’ve been donating and trying to educate myself but I didn’t feel the need to voice my opinion on the matter, just make a conscious effort to be aware. I’ve had racism my whole life but haven’t had it as bad as I’ve seen on most articles or in any situation. In my opinion ranting on social media doesn’t mean your doing something. But this was really well said! Big love xx
Definitely agree with you. Thanks for the support from the UK btw.
The most annoying thing I’m dealing with as I see ppl in support of BLM is that a flood of supporters came after George Floyd’s tragic death. Like I don’t get how brands, celebs, influencers, etc. are voicing compassion, stressing inclusion, or support of black businesses to their followers now though. Like this made everyone woke cuz it’s blown up in the media. Regardless it is a positive effort. It also just seems like another viral trend for some just as you have mentioned.
We need sustainable systemic social changes.
It’s pathetic and embarrassing that we still have to confront this in 2020.
Get cultured people. Make more friends who don’t look like you. Volunteer more in minority communities if you can’t donate. Cultivate compassion. Speak from an informed place vs an ignorant one.
Anyways, appreciate your contents beautiful!
I think the thing is the people who don't act to make change don't want a change. We love to think everyone does want a change but in reality it suits a lot of people for things to stay the same because they aren't effected. Obviously that's so sad though because when Black people are lifted we all are.
Can I just say, this is how white influencers should be using their platform during this movement. I’m so glad to see someone sitting down and just talking. You’re clearly well informed and that’s something that can’t happen over the course of a week. This isn’t a new idea to you and that’s obvious. I hope that other people see this and use their platform in a similar way. Thank you
Beautiful video. One of very few 'influencers' using their platform properly.
You really opened my eyes Sophie x
Thank you so much for this impactful video! I love how you stress the importance of learning from one another and having conversations to reach a place of understanding
❤️ love you and thank you for this video
Thank you for this powerful video!
Sophia this was beautifully said. ❤️
