I was 25 when this came out. IMO it's Sheila E's greatest track with Prince on backing vocals. It's so sexy & hypnotic. The funk just goes on and on. I would just let the record keep playing again and again and I think I painted my hallway to it actually. Absolute definition of a groove. So tragic to hear today the sad news that Prince has passed away. A genius show man. He gave us so much good music & helped so many other acts to blossom. From Sheila E to Sheena Easton, Wendy & Lisa , The Family, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Morris Day & The Time..... and more. RIP a true star.
Yes! Thank you for showing The Family some love! All those albums are great, too! That's the amazing thing, not just the sheer unimaginable quantity, but the improbably consistent quality! Also Jill Jones' first album is sublime! Besides those classic albums and many others under the Paisley/NPG standard, there's the 'incidental' stuff like the fact that he wrote most of Martika's best album, gave Chaka Kahn and Sinead O'Connor their biggest hits, brought P-Funk, Graham Central and Mavis Staples back into the spotlight, and facilitated my seeing Maceo Parker blow his horn in person (at Prince's World Tour 2003)..! So, so, *so* many great musical memories... His fingerprints are ALL OVER late 20th Century/early 21st Century pop culture. The man was literally a music-making biomachine. A true legend, and a massive loss for music fans everywhere.
+Mychael Darklighter His fingerprints certainly were all over the early 80's pop scene. Purple Paisley shirts were suddenly hot in London fashion in the early '80's . It was how you showed you were into Prince. Don't know what happened to mine.....
Yes it was a trippin scene time! The most groovy hip disco era ever! I was straight trippin! You should have seen me buck dancin to this trippin song!!!!!!
Thx to Sheila and the Prince family to let us delight with this super hit in long version ! Thx Dertaubedj, your copy is top shape ! May Prince be free in perfect love.
I remember this from the Krush Groove movie and when Donald Stone played this in Catacombs on Saturday night the club went wild. These were the days of real clubbing. People would dance all night long. Memories of Catacombs.
one has to wonder........if you drop this right now in a spot, how the reaction would be. like if you played it in a club, or karaoke, randomly. regardless, its such a great timeless tune, who cares what the reaction would be lol.
Maybe more than 20 years I did not hear this track. I have to congrat mallorcasunshineradio.com to play for me again after that long. Best from Majorca.
I met the purple one years back. If it were Sheila they might have arrested me. She always did it for me. I'd tell the judge I'm innocent due to the fact that she's gorgeous and talented. Lol, Classic tune.
+melakon1 and swallowing the pride and joy of it at that. :) after all, it is a love bizarre. :) you can thank Prince for that content. But technically it was his voice at the forefront during that lyric, with Sheila's on background, so.....depends on how you want to split the hair.

A faire écouter aux jeunes génération, c est juste énorme. Le live est juste génial aussi. Funky . Mon dieu que c est bon..
Prince's bass solo at 7:49 is the best part of this jam.
Who wrote the Bassline part and who actually played it ? On tour then it was BrownMark..
BAD ASS SHELIA E PRINCE KNEW IT THAT'S WHY THEY REMAINED VERY CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER, I HONESTLY BELIEVED THAT SHELIA WAS HIS MAIN LADY.
