Thank you for this video!! I love your sound!
Thanks so much doing this I think might be so much help me
Very helpful simple explanation thank you
This is so nice!
Thank you very much.
Exactly what I’m looking for- thanks so much. I guess I can use it for recording a live church service
Peter Assanful Yes you can use it for whichever recording you like. Keep in mind the mix you have for a live audience may differ from the mix you would like to hear for a recording.
Thank you for this. So helpful.
My mixer just has a 1/4 inch jack on the out so do you need an adapter for that to?
How do I regulate the level coming out of my mixer into the headset buddy or does the built in attenuator automatically adjust it?
Chislon Nelson run the master all the way up and set the channel levels accordingly. The headset cable attenuates the line level down to mic level for the phone to work with.
Thank you for the video. Is it the MONitor output you are taking to the ios device? Assuming you mixed your instruments and vox in your monitors and then I used the monitor output, would the audio have the same sound as a stereo mix?
DannyTheIrishSwede It’s NOT stereo bc the phone doesn’t record stereo, through the built in mic or through the line in. For stereo you would need a different piece of hardware.
CWTV Thank you so much. This is USEFUL. By any chance can you point me to where anyone is doing stereo mix-downs from the xlr stereo outs of their mixer to their ios (again for ios videos)? I would love to do a comparison. Thanks again! Subscribed.
@@DannyTheIrishSwede That I don't know for sure, but I have seen hardware from some music stores that could do it. But it's like $200 and up, if you're going to spend that sort of money, spend it on a better camera.
There is a lightning to 3.5mm 3 IN 1 audio adapter could help,it's with audio IN and Out,and Lightning charge port too, check it here www.coolsell.com.cn/live-broadcast-audio-adapter.html it's selling on Amazon, just search MIXER AUDIO ADAPTER FOR IPHONE
Thanks!!! You record mono ?
Yes this method is mono.
What app are u using to record on iPhone..? Can use the phone camera video to record ?
Yes I was using the factory installed camera.
can we achieve the same outcome using some wireless devices. Please advice
You need to interface the attenuation cable into the signal chain so it depends.
Can I use it to add clean audio directly from my computer? (Using the 3.5mm jack audio out for headphone) Sometime, I would like to add clean audio on TikTok "duet" or "stitch", but it's only possible to add audio through the iphone mic or headphone mic when using these features. I want the TikTok app to think the audio is coming from the MIC.
I have never tried that but it should work.
Yes it does!!
Is it recorded in mono? How to record in stereo? Thx😬
Focus It’s mono just as the mic on the phone records in mono. For stereo you would need some additional hardware.
This is closer to what I want, but some of us don't have a $1000 mixer amp...we want to MIC the acoustic amp we have, that is pumping out vocals & guitar...Mic it 15 ft away from the camera/phone that is doing the video close to the singer...Shoot the audio into the phone...The phone takes both and shoots it to Utube...
I would suggest taking a line out from the amp and running the HEADSET BUDDY cable into the phone. If your vocals and acoustics are going through the amp, then the amp acts as a mixer anyway.
Help! I have an iPhone XR with a lightning connector! Is there a cable out there for me? Thanks.
You need a 1/8 inch to lightning adapter.
@@SuperKomedyKing Thanks for your reply. Headset Buddy says that you cannot use the 3.5 mm to Lightning Adapter that comes with the iPhone. I wonder if any adapter will work. Do you know?
@@MakatiMazz That doesn't sound right. Their cable has a TRSS connector and the 3.5mm to lighting adapter "accepts" a TRRS input. Try restarting the phone too. Also install an app called REPORTER by Rodes, it has an indicator on it telling you when the external iPhone mic is working and when the headphone jack insert is active.
@@SuperKomedyKing Thank you so much!
@@MakatiMazz Hey! Any generic lightning adapter will work for you, Apple's lightning adapter has reversed wiring!
I need some help. I bought the cable. I got the generic lightning adapter for iPhone 10 they suggested. Still isn't working otu of my mixer. Do I need a specific type of cable to run out of the mixer and into the line adapter? Getting frustrated. You have to go from 1/4 inch out of the mixer down to 3/4 into the line in adapter. What cord and adapter do I need to have in order to make sure that is correct? I think that is my issue. I don't like their customer service as I can't seem to get answers from them yet.
Are you coming out of the mixer by way of a mono output or stereo output? Should be mono. Also try restarting to the phone. Is the phone recording any audio at all or is defaulting to the phone’s built in mic?
@@SuperKomedyKing I will check the mono/stereo thing later. Does the cable have to be a certain jack type at the end? Some cords have three black rings on plug...others two...just want to make sure my cables are compatible and correct as well. Thank you.
bobking59 In order to record into your phone you need the cable that has the three black rings. It has known as a TRRS cable. That is what the head set buddy cable should have looked like when you got it.
@@SuperKomedyKing Thank you ...so the cable running from the mixer into the headset buddy needs to be a TRRS cable. Do they make one with a 1/4 inch male at one end and a 3/4 one at the other? I assume that's what I'd need yes?
bobking59 No the cable you have now from HEADSET BUDDY is TRRS. Try coming mono out of your mixer, into the HEADSET cable and into your phone. You should be able to use guitar cable into a 1/8!mono adapter which will attach to the HEADSET BUDDY cable.
But also try an app called REPORTER by RODE. That’s an audio only app but it tells you if your phone is actually detecting the input. What are you getting when you try to use the cable? Any recording at all?
What app are you using on your smartphone to record?
Notso Purdy I’m just using the video camera app that came with the iPhone I have.
Just the factory issued camera app.
What if i have a house speaker on?????
You’ll hear the house speaker in the background.
It would have been nice if you showed proper how to connect headset buddy from mixer etc...🙏
Yes I realized afterwards I had left that out. A 1/4 inch male to 1/8 inch male would do the trick. Did you get it to work? My bad....

@@johnkim7343 good sharing bro tks
Ok stupid question but I’m confused .. while your recording this is there any volume coming out of your PA into the room or is 100% of the output just going into your phone ?
If you mix from your monitor section, your mains output still function the same way.
So plug everything into your mixer amp and then you want to have two mixes. One for the room to hear yourselves coming through the mains and one going to your phone from the monitor section for recording.
@@SuperKomedyKing ok thank you for the reply .. I’m trying to figure out how to do this because I usually just set my iPhone up and record but your right that it’s not clean .. I’m terrible with tech .. basically I have my guitar and mic separate both running into a Yamaha MG10xu mixer and then coming out into a single harbinger Vari PA .. I’m looking at the mixer now .. I have an fx send jack , 2 monitor out jacks, 2 stereo out jacks which I have both running into my PA , and then also have a set of the red and white RCA jacks .. where would the phone plug in ?
@@Mj-bg2uj Do you have the line to mic level cable now? I would plug that into the MONITOR OUT Jack and then mix your vocal and guitar through the monitor levels on each channel.
Then do a test record and listen back. Then adjust levels and FX, EQ etc as needed.
@@SuperKomedyKing I don’t have the line to mic cable yet .. I went on Amazon and I found a bunch of headset buddy cables but can’t seem to find the exact one that you had .. I went to guitar center to see if they had anything similar and they stared at me like I had 6 heads kinda like they always do when I have an audio question lol .. so that small cable I need is just called a line to mic cable for iPhone ?
@@SuperKomedyKing ok so I think I found the exact cable you have on eBay .. I will also need the 3.5 mm to 1/4 inch adapter that actually plugs into the mixer correct?

Can i record using android phone
That should work...it’s a mic input into the phone.
Yes it does!
No drums?
No drums in this example but you can certainly record drums this way.
