Itsellä kun oman keittiön työhevonen (yaxell) jota oon parin vuoden aikana ahkerasti teroittanut alkaa olemaan hankala palauttaa alkuperäiseen teräänsä. Pitkähkön tutkimisen jälkeen internet antoi vastaukseksi veitsen ohentamisen kun terä itsessään allaa olla paksuhko. Mutta tee ihmeessä video miten ja milloin tuota kannattaa tehdä
Ohennus hommat on itselle veitsien osalta aika harvinaista herkkua. Eli sen alan expertti en kyllä ole. Tosin vastaan ei ole tullut sellaisia veitsiä, jotka tätä varsinaisesti tarvitsevat. Työkaluja, talttoja jne olen kyllä ohentanut, mutta ne on aina hiukan speciaali tapauksia. Käsi kivillä manuaalisesti tuon työn tekeminen on työlästä .. nauhahiomakoneella vesijäähyllä tai tahkolla jo paljon helpompaa, mutta ei aivan riskivapaata hommaa sekään. Laitetaan idea muistiin ja katsotaan tulisiko video jossain vaiheessa työlistalle.

I have to comment here, this stone works really well when it is soaked before use but if you leave it permasoaked it develops orange rusty flecks and some stickiness to the surface, so it needs to be washed and lapped thoroughly before use. I tend to agree with what i read somewhere that its the particles of natural stone that oxidize. I guess this happens under a more prolongued exposure to moisture so if you still have this stone handy you might want to leave it in the water for some weeks. otherwise, nice stones and great for knives, i own 1k 6k and 8k imanishi
Seems like these rumors get started by one bad stone or mishandling, then folks assume they're all like that.
