I can't speak for all Christian rock bands but I know Petra's music is all about preaching the gospel. Hundreds of thousands of people have been saved at there concerts over 40 year's. It is NOT the devil's work! I used to be a traditional Christian but now I have seen proof that God is more loving and understanding.
Who are any of us to judge what type of music God would and wouldn't find peaceful? God is certainly not limited by a music style over another. God cannot be put into a box! Praise Him for that.
I was at FarmAid V I have seen Petra in long when oldist invited me go and neace to see Willy's concert the awsome thing Nesl Young i think played after them i had know idea thy be ministrying there but big queastion is would a christian band today beable go back to streets make new fans out of siner who there i thankful god leat be at Cawboys Stadiom in Irving Texas god us them there it a awsome show i wish be a nother Petra soon..
I agree! This and Creed are two of Petra's best! I have to say I thank God from the bottom of my heart for this band. It's because of their songs I was able to commit some of the Word to memory. I feel like God made this band for me to listen to.
Do you know the mind of God. God is infinite in wisdom, that I know. But i will never claim to say what God thinks. If these songs and music inspire me to be a better human being and love God with my heart, soul, mind and strength and my neighbor, then it must bring glory to God.

I'm really glad that they played "Creed." It would've been very easy to play the least "Jesus-y" stuff in their catalog for an audience that might have unreceptive to their message.

While you are perfectly entitled to your own likes and dislikes, EVERY song from Petra is Scripture inspired, and the men of the band seek to glorify Him and Him only at all times. As usual, they are imperfect, but they have for the most part gotten back up after a stumble. Have you? You can NOT pidgeon hole any form of music. If Jesus is glorified, He is Glorified without limit in a perfect manner. Petra praises Jesus!

Might I mention to you that at one point in time the organ (which is considered holy by many a conservative congregation) was at one time used by the Romans in gladiator fights and secular entertainment around Jesus' time? I think you have to realize that change happens regardless of what you believe and if you don't maintain relevant ways of reaching people with your message then you will lose many more than you will save and its where your heart is not what the music is that counts.

If anyone would take the time to see how Petra truelly was and still are only about praising God. I got saved at one of there concerts and it saved my life forever. (Matt. 7:15-20) He said nothing about judging them by your personal tastes in music or delivery. Further, if you'll remember, in Philippians 1, Paul said the "motive" didn't matter. He was just thrilled that the Gospel was being preached! Look at THESE scriptures before you make ridiculous statements like this.

No sin is involved in playing the guitar, drums or keys. The sin-part in music can only exist of the lyrics. But the lyrics in Petra are all about praising the Lord, and they just like to praise Him Loud! They were able to reach a lot of people with their songs: they really took the message "back to the street"

Petra was and is greatest ministry I ever witnessed or took part in. Creed best song ever written , but that is ONLY my opinion via the Holy Spirit.

This is exactly why I think Petra stands out in Christian music. Because for them it was not music, it was a ministry, a way to speak the good news.
