Hi Chip and Steve, Back in my time born in 53 there was a movement going on like nothing else that ever happened, I got to grow up in the hot rod seen as well as having the neatest toy come to market, There were things that I never got rid of Like my AM pocket radio , My 5 Speed String Ray Cotten picker, and my Ideal Commando Robot and then there were the CARS!!! Oh Boy oh Boy, yep went into the Army in 72 Came back to them toys of my childhood. did not Matter if you had a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Pontiac, Buick, or even a Farm tractor, Things were way, Cooler And we had Rock and Roll man what a Great Country we live in...
You Guys down there in central Fla, Here is a little fun fact about the 67 and 68 Camaro, The dealership that you bought your new Camaro from had Promos from the Factory, For the woman buyers there was 2 different Dress that were given away with that Camaro , Now for the younger kids there was a Race Car game called Road Rally , On this slot car race track there was a 67 Vett and the 67 Camaro Both cars ran on AA battery's you would race around the U.S.A. in your car, I played the game once and I have the Dresses never wore them but they are neat to look at, And that Road Rally it's just cool to look at...
Hay their Chip and Steve, on my 68 RS Camaro On the rear valance and around the taillights is all low gloss Black and yes it means that it is a big block, now back in that time if the dealer was a high sales dealer they could get a Camaro with a 427 and it was hard, I was a pinstriper for a big Chevy dealer ship in Mpls,Mn . And I did see 3 Camaro that came on the truck From Chevy 1 was a 68 and 2 were 69 all with the 427, Now my Rs came with 396 Alum heads, hide a way headlight, light monitoring fiber optic, speed warning control, AM only with 8 tracks, with boost, Turbo 400, 12 bolt rearend, My Camaro was silver just like this 70 RS/SS here. And I have Black stripes on mine. I now have 42,723 rounds on her now, I have it with my 69 Zl1 one day if you are up in the Panhandle, please look me up to see the both of them, also what town are you in? I am up in Alford, Fla. Chip, I do not know much about the 70 RS/SS kind of out my wheel house but trying to compare the Package deal from the RS to the RS/SS, On my RS there is an extra hole on the fire wall this is for the hose kit for the lights because on the 68 RS it ran off the vacuum on the intake, So I have vac lines from my light knob to the lights and also to the to a Vacuum container on the driver side fender, My steering wheel is a 3 spoke wood wheel with the RS cap in the center, Also on outside of fenders both sides it says Rally Sport, The center of my front grill has RS on it, The rear gas cap also has RS and under the rear bumper it has 2 back up Lites, When ordering the RS package with the Z22 Retractable head lamp the left and right turn Lites are now mounted under the front bumper, Under the RS and the RS/SS package one could kind a mix and match, Even on the Dash the Gauges also can be mounted by the shifter. On my RS this was a dealer ordered Camaro so when I bought it the Customer vehicle protect -o- plate had the dealership name on it, then they sent paperwork back to Chevy and a new one was sent to me with my name on it, if you ordered it from the dealer yourself then the plate would come to you with your name on it. On some Camaro the build sheet could be anywhere on the inside of the vehicle, there were more than 2 Factory that built the Camaro the one that I own was built in California. I hope this opens up the door a little bit about the build of the RS, RS/SS. Rock and Roll....
