I'm not Jewish, not even close, i'm Mexican. But this music, and this man, it is food for the soul and nothing less. He never fails to make me smile like a small child in a candy store.
Today is Yom haSHoah, and klezmer, for me, is the voice of the six million we lost - people celebrating joyous simchot, only to see their world engulfed by an indescribable hatred, an enormous evil. But the music lives, the Jewish people live. Am Yisrael Chai.
I am a Klezmer fan and having the great Master Violinist Itzhak Perlman perform with the Klezmetic band was awsome. I have the CD at home and play it over and over as I love Jewish music. Karl
Absolutely amazing! Perlman is by far the best violinist that ever existed! I’m Jewish and he performs our music with such innate passion, it brings tears to my eyes!!!!
The greatest modern violinist playing the greatest timeless music. This sound once represented our culture. It is fantastic to hear it after everything that happened in the last century.
This video drives me crazy fans, making me jump out of my sleepers ha ha, awesome performances celebrating the joy of life, keep calm & love spreading good vibes, no time to die fans
Beautiful!!! What soul music!!! You can tell the people that played this music suffered a lot. Their pain is in the back of all these tunes, yet so is their bright tenacy in clinging to life, and their joyful hope!!
I'm only half Jewish, and not religious, but your comment and the music made me wonderfully happy. Regardless of the people--- this is SOUL music. I can't imagine anything more beautiful.
Love the connection between the musicians, like at 1:57 when all Perlman has to do is change his facial expression and the rest of the band knows to move to the IV chord. And Perlman's nod of approval afterwards! Great stuff
I love the Jewish Jazz that is called Klezmer. It is amazing that musicians bring forth music with great joy from a history of hardship.May G_D keep you in the palm of His hand.
and with that comment/prayer, cookingprof..you have scooped up and folded in mh scots -irish culture of rthe Appalachin hills..and the Auld Sod. Thanks.
Itzhak Perlman, what to say. THE BEST and the most amazing musician, so gifted, and so special. When the heart is ruling and when the Heaven and Angels are involved, then there is not a border, not a religion, not human limitations, there is only a GOD. May GOD bless and protect you Sir always.
I cant help it. I'm listening to mr. Perlman at least every day for few weeks now. Neka nam dugo zivi! bog ga blagoslovio. Lehaim, inshalla, zdrovja, sei gesund etc.
Extraordinaire le maestro Itzhac Perlman un des plus grand violoniste de tous les temps.... dans cette sublime improvisation de musique Juive. J'adore.Merci.
So beautiful! Klezmer music is mesmerizing It goes right to the heart. You want to get up and dance, but deep down, it seems there is a touch of melancholy. I was wondering if any one agrees with me. Itzhak Perlman performance and words are truly touching. I love Klezmer music!
Superbes musicos, joie et feeling dans le partage de cette improvisation et un Itzhak perlman sublime violoniste. Cette musique Klezmer m'émeut au plus profond. Merci pour ce partage.
thank you so much sharing, reminding how our ancestors traditions are so adorable, so cheerful, yeah, the true human happiness, the FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION to all social classes and levels, so, BIG BIG LIKE all over again, JEWISH traditions lovers, always on your side
This is amazing! Why the hell hasn't anyone ever told me about music like this!? Better question, why the heck don't people know about this? It's too good!
The refrain and the typical / recognizable klezmer music is very nice but seeing two musicians talk to eachother with their instruments is out of this world. Wow... i could listen to the improvisation for hours and hours. Thats the moment when "god" or whatever you want to call ot, presents itself
Wishing everybody a great Sunday noon, fans, let it sound this good, amuses me nuts this video, suuuuper awesome, when artists are having fun is ... suuuuper wow
Thanks for sharing this rare street moment, that was probably rare for everybody too : unique ! A moment in life. Great "boeuf" (in french to mean improvisation between musicians that are not used to play together ! Second part with Klezmatics, my friend Frank London ), is great too ! Friendly
Love how he (Itzhak) is willing to try new things and always has a great tone while doing it. I remember this first about him when he helped out the great Jazz Pianist Oscar Peterson by making a jazz duet album with Peterson to raise funds to help with his medical bills. SOULFUL!
This abilility, this skillfullness just playing music in a team, never played together before is most admirable - really artists - more than that: musicians feeling and being their music. I love it, most of all: the variations of dance of delight
I don't gie a damn about where people come from, what colour or relifgion they have, or anything else for that matter. People al over the world make music and songs, and great wonderful music is great wonderful music no matter what - this video is filled with just exactly that. Thanks for sharing, this is awesome!
Can't help myself every time I watch this video:-) It brings SMILE on my face ,and JOY to my HEART :-) ..(some tears too..) PEARL- MAN..and you Klezmer Bands guys !..THANK YOU !!!
This is INCREDIBLE, joyous, life-filled music!! I love it. I'm not Jewish, but who cares. It's a shame that this beautiful music has inspired such negative, hateful comments. Imagine... Just love the music.
I used to watch this, the PBS special in its entirety, all the time with my dad and grandpa (though not Jewish, he was actually Romanian Orthodox, God rest his soul. My only point here is there are those of us gentiles who can enjoy and appreciate klezmer, too, as well.) The way Perlman and all the bands here belt it out, and, might I add, with such gusto, too--AWESOME, such memories ;-)
X-Ray Crystallography Actually, the only point I was trying to make, is that there's not a single darn thing wrong with some of us East European gentiles who already like to live it up ethnic hunky. Plus, this is EXACTLY how I remember it with my dad and grandpa, so it never was any prejudice whatsoever on my part. So the last and final thing I need right now, and I ABSOLUTELY cannot stand, tolerate or deal with, are trolls like you (or repulsive sonofab ---- lowlifes like DaffyDuck73 or NobodySmurf) who insist on ad-libbing and twisting my words around all out of the cock-and-bull false pretense to "show humility".
@X-Ray Crystallography AND NO, I WASN'T AT ALL TAKING TO IT FOR ANY DUMB WRONG STUPID REASONS, PLUS I DON'T KNOW FOR THE LIFE OF ME WHERE THE HELL YOU'RE COMING FROM ABOUT "WHITE AND NON-WHITE PEOPLE"
This is melody from Basarabia, Republic of Moldova, very impressive. Not so many jewish left today in my country. Thank you guys for remind about our sweet colaboration cultures

More than 10 years i am watching this video from time to time. The best part is when they improvise and "talk" to eachother with instruments. Now i found out on spotify the song is called "traditional: fisherlid" and its perfectly played, but it has nowhere near the power of the improvisation here in this video. It is raw, pure, perfect imperfect! 👌
Hankus Netsky looks a little like Gustav Mahler. Funny, I never noticed it before.:) Perlman seems to get really going with the Klezmatics the most. The call and response play with Frank London is fun to watch -- and all the embellishment talk coming under that unbelievable technique is breathtaking to hear unfolding..How fabulous they all got to play with him -- but how many more times fabulous he got to play his heart in with them! This whole montage is priceless above rubies.
Klezmer time for everybody fans, cheer up, Life is beautiful because its giving us big important missions to carry on, seeking for solutions and saving our lives, music for first is saving us from losing minds for good
Cool! I'm from Argentina and somewhat I was captured into this amazing style. I also love the '5 devils' where Geza Hosszu Legocky plays..........but well done as a violinist I am now very much driven into dances (not only Argentinian's tangos)...thanks and ciao!
I'm not Jewish, not even close, i'm Mexican. But this music, and this man, it is food for the soul and nothing less. He never fails to make me smile like a small child in a candy store.

Makes about as much sense as saying "I'm not a cat, but I do enjoy stroking them"....but it was 9 years ago so 🤷♂😅
Again an alleged answer of Joseph Haydn to Emperor Napoléon why he, Haydn, doesn't speak French: "My language anyone understands!"

Music is for all.
As a Sicilian Roman catholic, I could dance to this all year! Absolutely beautiful! May we all come together in peace and harmony. Shabbat Shalom!
Absolutely beautiful !

I had the privilege of seeing Itzhak Perlman, The Klezmatics and Andy Statman last night in San Francisco. It was Amazing and Energizing!
Did Statman end his set with the Flatbush Waltz, like he usually does? That song always chokes me up.
Klezmer music is a whole mood, so exciting! What a beautiful showcase of talent and personality. Thank you for this music.

It's amazing and hilarious to watch Perlman pick up on this so quickly.
With a talent like his and the background he has, it came very naturally.
