1:40 What is the worst ingredient in the world?
    3:52 Which foods contain maltodextrin?
7:05 What is maltodextrin used for?
9:48 Check out my video on the glycemic index and the glycemic load!
The #1 worst ingredient in the world is in a lot of our foods, and it’s much higher on the glycemic index than glucose.
The glycemic index is a scale that measures how fast a carbohydrate is absorbed and spikes your blood sugar. The ingredient we’re going to talk about ranks as the highest ingredient on the glycemic index.
The worst ingredient in the world is maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is not classified as a sugar, but it behaves like a sugar.
When you read a food label on a product that contains maltodextrin, the maltodextrin doesn’t have to be classified as a sugar. Instead, it’s classified under total carbohydrates. This can be misleading because now you don’t know how much sugar is really in the product.
Maltodextrin is a man-made synthetic sugar-like carbohydrate. It’s highly processed and is absorbed in the body faster than sugar. Maltodextrin depletes nutrients and spikes insulin-it’s even classified as an insecticide.
Maltodextrin could be hiding in certain foods, drinks, and supplements, such as:
    • Natural flavorings
    • Herbal extracts
    • Stevia powders
    • MCT oil powders
    • Fish oil powders
    • Performance gels
    • Energy drinks
    • Protein powders
    • Electrolyte powders
    • Infant formulas
    • Baby foods
    • Weight gain formulas
    • Beer
    • Animal feeds
    • Many keto products
    • Many diet products
    • Soups
    • Desserts
    • Cereals
    • Sauces
    • Intravenous nutrition
    • Certain medications

I've learned more in 14 weeks with Dr. Berg then I have in my entire adult life. I've dropped 60-lbs and am on the verge of reversing Type 2 Diabetes, cut my BP meds in half and have noticed color in my legs coming back to white and having more energy then ever with no craving of food after a 24 hour and a once a week 48 hour fast and this was all by luck by just happening to come across an older video that Dr. Berg had posted about "Intermittent Fasting for Beginners" that I decided to watch January 3, 2022 and looked easy to do which looking back was 100% right.

Why not give them extra play time outdoors instead? Or play a team game? Was eating lunch today of pasta made from yellow peas, slathered in a delicious Alfredo sauce while watching your vid. I just now checked the packet of creamy Alfredo dry sauce mix from Knorr. First ingredient is maltodextrin! Guess now I'd better check out the pasta made from yellow peas to see if that is any healthier than regular pasta. Funny part is, I recently carted a whole suitcase full of both products from the USA to where I live as a US expat in Africa, hoping to eat more healthily. The good news is I have only been eating this for a few months. This likely explains the recent outbreak of an itchy skin rash all over my body.

I learned this lesson working at a nursing home. For residents that were not eating much and losing weight, they would be offered a liquid supplement similar to Ensure. But for diabetics, they gave a product called TwoCal. Every time my residents got the TwoCal, their sugars would spike necessitating more insulin. If they lost more weight, the doctors would order more TwoCal (i.e., two times a day vs once), and their sugars would spike more often. I finally realized it was the maltodextrin. Obviously carbs increase weight, but for a diabetic, it's a catch22.

@@soukiwifun5744 Hi, I watched every video I possibly could on the principles of keto and how your body works. Then basically I cut out all bread pasta sugar and alcohol, basically super low carb. I eat beef, chicken, fish like salmon, avocados, spinach, a little cheese, plenty of eggs, and I’m probably forgetting a few things lol. I started out eating two meals a day the first at 1:30 or 2 PM and the second at 4:30 or 5 PM. Then I fasted without any snacking or eating until the following day. I drank black tea and black coffee, water, and in the water I put a little pink sea salt or Dr. Berg electrolyte powder. That was pretty much it. I have five friends that I’ve turned on to this diet who were extremely reluctant but everyone of them los significant weight and improved their overall health. Two of them were diabetic that were borderline going on insulin, and both of them to their doctors surprise have completely reverted to normal. My personal doctor and cardiologist were both extremely doubtful about this diet. Both of them told me that I was making a mistake and I asked them to explain why and they couldn’t give any reason. So in my fourth month my doctor demanded that I get a blood test and when it came back he shook his head and said the blood test was absolutely phenomenal and he wished his blood was as good as mine.

One hour later I check my blood sugar level and found an unexpected high reading. I was baffled because all I ate was fat and protein. The next day I went back to the store and asked for a label for the baked chicken. The deli worker printed me one and when I looked more carefully I noticed that the seasoning used showed the number one ingredient MALTODEXTRIN. It is insidious. Stay on your guard.
