Michael Biehn (Tombstone, Aliens) joins us again this week, as promised - and he does not disappoint! Story on story on story… Michael addresses misconceptions with Tombstone, deadly experiences while filming The Abyss, alternative casting on The Terminator, and so much more that we couldn’t fit in his first appearance. There are great moments where Michael discusses the importance of protecting yourself as an actor, including a positive experience he had collaborating on his upcoming film The Red. We also talk about his run-in with Deniro, his love for Aliens, and suffering from JDD.

The Crazy Scare MICHAEL BIEHN Had While Filming THE ABYSS With JAMES CAMERON #insideofyou #michaelbiehn #terminator #tombstone #jamescameron
Good thing he had a flashlight. "Come with me if you want to live."
Corporal Hicks staying cool and practical under pressure as always.
His finest role. The perfect foil against the arrogant-jarhead-types on his team. Flirty, but not Hollywood romance flirty with Ripley. Wish he'd been in more Cameron work.
Neill Blomkamp and his team did some awesome concept arts about proper Aliens continuation with Hicks still alive.@@billium99
I really hope Jim and Michael make another movie someday. Other than Arnold, I can't think of an actor more synonymous with James Cameron films than Michael Biehn who always gives a stellar performance.
Bill Paxton was a regular too.
If I recall correctly, Jim tried to get Michael to be the bad guy in Avatar. He tried to get him in that role, but Michael was busy so that is why they went with Stephen Lang
I’m sure there’s some role in avatar he could do- they had some pretty terrible actors in number 2
@@PatrickBarnes86 I recall someone saying that with Michael in it the movie would be too much like Aliens.
@@handsomeDRAC was....
The Abyss is one of the best deep sea movies you will ever see. AND it was made over 35 years ago.
You should check out Underwater (2020), not a patch on The Abyss but a great film if you liked the claustrophobia that movie brings, Underwater turns claustrophobia up to 10.
Fun fact: Ed Harris allegedly punched Cameron in the face after the actor almost drowned and the director simply kept on filming. Good news is they became friends again in later years.
Don't blamed him though. Alot of actors were overstressed and even pissed about how intense working with James Cameron on the set. But then, JC took the cast and took him into a restaurant and talk it out.
Allegedly ≠ fact. So, fun anecdote, not fun fact.
It was a ROUGH film (BTS). It's still one of my personal favorites, but I can't even *imagine* how hurt Mastrantonio must've been after the... resurrection scene. 😳 Wow.
He did and it’s fact
It's never been confirmed that Ed Harris did this. What has been confirmed is that James Cameron had an incident where he ran out of oxygen and was incorrectly assisted by a safety diver, and his trying to surface was interpreted by the diver as him panicking, and tried to restrain Cameron, and caused Cameron to punch the diver in the face to break free and rise to the surface.
Never has it been documented that Ed Harris punched James Cameron during Ed Harris' incident. Ed Harris has only said that he finally got the proper oxygen, surfaced, and then later while driving home he pulled over and broke down. Nothing in the documentary "Under Pressure: Making The Abyss" refers to anything else happening.
Michael Biehn has been my favorite actor since I saw him in the first Terminator when I was 10.. He is always riveting to watch.
He's brilliant as Johnny Ringo in Tombstone as well. :)
My favorite too! Hicks!!
The Rock, Abyss & Navy Seals
There was a 2-parter mini movie in the 80s where he played an obsessive abusive husband the wife was trying to escape from. I was just a kid back then but I will never forget the scene where he finds out she's getting on a plane to escape him and he goes after her (IF my memory serves well)...well...I don't wana spoil it. TBH I can't even remember wth it was called lol. But it was DEFO 80's likely just b4 _The Terminator_ .
I bring this up because I still remember thinking as a kid "WOW! This guy is TERRIFYING! And he seemed like such a good guy" :D
My cousin was an aspiring young actor when he coincidentally sat next to Michael Biehn on a flight from Austin to LA. He said Michael was more than happy to give advice about the movie industry and talk with him the entire flight. Apparently Michael had just finished filming Planet Terror.
If you haven't seen it, there is a feature length documentary about the making of The Abyss that was on the special edition DVDs, and it is excellent. That DVD is still what I consider the high water mark for special features.
They guy needs to be put in more stuff ASAP, he's still in shape, quick and sharp. Watched him recently in a few things he was fkn GREAT as always.
Yeah, man. He was sick in The Mandalorian. Definitely still an action star.
He's one of the actors -- like Bruce Campbell -- where you always want to see him in more stuff all the time!

Watch Michael Biehn in my TV Series "24 HOUR RENTAL" 😁👍🏻

@@massapower As a soon to be film maker, I like to share and support such low budget, newcomers and stuff, but I don't know man, besides Biehn, I don't see in the trailer much to hold onto.
Michael Biehn has been in three of my top favorite films of all time - Tombstone, The Abyss and Aliens, and Terminator isn't too far behind. I'm loving these behind the scenes stories.
He also voices the MC in a favorite game of mine
Terminator is tops- has that great low-budget 80s look that's driven by a fantastic original story and was directed by the writer himself. Most movies that are written and directed by one person are better, for obvious reasons.
@@michaelangelo5783 Except of course Neil Breen & Tommy Wiseau 😋 But yes, I agree.
I hope Michael isn't suffering from traumas. That sounds like a fucking disturbing situation. James went on to do Titanic. What an absolute crazy nutcase. Great man.
We used to get stoned and go night diving (apnea) here in Adriatic coast. My friend got the idea that we should do a screw dive (spinning fast while going down) without lights on and then relax at about 10m and let ourselves sense in which direction you were floating up. it was supposed to make you feel like you are in space weightless. Last time we did that, one of our friends panicked and almost died, he didn't know where he was so we had to pull him out. After that he never did it again! It was intense AF. I don't ever go into panic mode but I can imagine what it was like for him.
Think what he's been through fighting the Terminator and Aliens, he'll be fine.
The Abyss, Terminator AND Tombstone. Legend. Great interview thanks! Wake'n Bake guy, haha amazing.
No Aliens? Are you kidding me?
An amazing movie, in many ways. And unlike other movies where people moan, from what I have read, that movie was one hell of a rough place to be. Cameron takes no prisoners either.
Its a shame that the end of the movie was chewed up and did not come up to what the rest of the film was. Its over 30 years old now, and some of the underwater, science, diving and other innovations still fucking rock now.
Mastrantonio should have got an oscar for the drowning scene. When you see her palour go grey dead grey and back to colour - its one hell of a moment in film.
He was robbed of an Oscar nomination for that movie
I agree! He's been in so many good roles but, more importantly, he's consistently acted alongside some powerhouses, and still carves out a memorable presence!
screw the oscars thry are a joke. barbie? really
He wasn't supposed to be in Aliens, James Cameron called him up several days into shooting because the original actor for Hicks was kicked out of the UK for accidentally bringing drugs in to the country. Supposedly at the time Michael was going through a rough patch mentally and James just calls him up and asks if he could be in London within the next 12hrs and if he could he has a gig for him. He said once that if it wasn't for that call for Aliens he might not have been there for The Abyss and when pressed to elaborate he just said "take that however you want to", so it's possible Aliens saved his life - now there's a headline for The Enquirer.
Disagree. Ed Harris defintely tho.
@@thischannelisdeleted Ed Harris is a beast!
True story: Ed was the president of the Cal arts board of alumni when I was there, and every year he took everyone out to dinner before which we were instructed not to under any circumstances ask Ed about what happened on the abyss with the situation - - I got up and went to the bathroom, and when I came back, Zd wasn’t in there, because my best friend had asked him about it, and Ed had simply risen and walked Out
Always one guy has to ruin it for everyone
They certainly seem to have had to go above and beyond while filming The Abyss😱
Ed Harris said that people asking him about the movie is like asking a soldier what was it like fighting in Vietnam
"Yeah yeah...but what about the boots, stay with the boots story..."
Dude, slow your fucking roll. I have no idea who you are but thats Michael Biehn youre interviewing there. Show some respect.
Cameron was obsessed with underwater cinema
Is
I’ve seen “Planet Terror” a 100 times. Of course I bought the blu ray. Masterpiece. Love Michael Beihn.
such a great guest and cool dude. going to watch the full episode again. please come back for a part 3.. and 4, and 5 + lol
Biehn is the only actor who ever talks positively about his time on _The Abyss._ All the other actors talk about what a nightmare it was. Ed Harris has only ever done the one interview for the "Under Pressure" making-of documentary, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio refuses to talk about it to this day.
‘Refuses to talk about it’ always sounded so dramatic to me
Man, Mike just looks and sounds like a completely different human being. I know not everyone can be Tom Cruise and there’s a thing called aging, but he just looks and sounds like a completely different person now.
He had a really bad stroke in the 2000s, so that definitely has a lot to do with his speech being a bit different.
@@bigred22685 Well damn it's amazing he looks and sounds alright after going through that. By different I mean different, not bad.
He was also addicted to drugs and alcohol for a time, which can mess a person up physically.
“So, nothing happene-“
“SO WHAT HAPPENED!”
My favorite classic actor since Terminator, need this man's autograph 😁
Not mentioned: As soon as the lights came back on, clouds of brown water were discovered around the actors. For real though, I can imagine a lot of people panic breathing and the risk of running out of oxygen being extremely high. I'm betting a few of those people were 5 minutes away from running out.
With what appeared to be little submarines floating on the surface.
It’s a dope movie !!
Agreed. Its an underrated classic.
Michael Behn will always be Sgt Rex Power Colt to me!
Johnny Ringo in "Tombstone", Kyle Reese in "Terminator", and excellent in "Alien".
@@normancarter5419 Aliens for sure.
HE ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT STOP...UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD.!!! GREAT ACTOR!!
Cool movie, i reslly felt into it when it came out, actors were great.
Who is the guy on the side? He is always there doing nothing.
Amazing actor, I've been a fan since his beginning in films. Always delivers!
We need more Biehn performances. Such an amazing actor. A few more great roles for this man please!
We need Biehn as Bane opposite Bale as Batemane.
Classic movie
Michael Biehn totally sounds like Todd MacFarlane now 😧.If you listen without watching then listen to Todd. They have a similar voice. Crazy story btw.
Because he has a very serious, severe stroke and almost couldn't work any more, he is lucky just to be alive and able to talk.
@@normancarter5419 Wait what? Michael Biehn? Oh shi*t I didn't know that, when did that happen? 😯Geez. I'm glad he's alive, I just figured it was his age. When people age your voice can change, get weaker sounding. I had no idea. Tim Curry I know had one sadly he's in a wheelchair now.
@@MKF30 He's also had open heart surgery, and he was a confirmed alcoholic for decades until he had the stroke and then he quit drinking, but the damage had already been done, and then he had to have the heart surgery. It is hard for him to get acting work now because it is so hard and costly to get him insured on a set. He is a really good action actor, but he's basically become a Mr. Mom, and his wife is an actress and writer.
@@normancarter5419 Oh wow, I remember hearing something about him and drinking but I didn't know about the heart surgery and the stroke. That's a shame.
1:45 who tf is the guy sitting to the right at the bottom of the screen? Is he necessary?
Yea ef him
Gonna commend and applaud you for the return of the living dead poster. Under rated, amazing movie and KICK ARSE intro theme!
The interviewer is really good.. he directs his subject back to the topic when he strays, and obviously knows enough about the films in question to respond intelligently.
Too much interrupting, though. He needs to let his guests just talk.
I loved him in Timebomb, one of his lesser known movies. Fun action movie.
Tombstone, lesser known??
@@JoseyWales44s Go buy some glasses... SMH
@@Facetiously.Esoteric I stand corrected. That's the problem with reading comments from across the room on your television. I have seen Timebomb, not a bad film.
Timebomb. Excellent movie! Very Manchurian.
Crazy stuff! I'm watching the movie right now and was googling if any rats died during the scene with the breathing liquid when I came across this very recent interview. Awesome to see Michael Biehn telling stories!!!
This interviewer sucks. Props to Michael Biehn for not losing his shit on this guy.
Great live, how is it possible to purchase the mask from Friday the 13th next to Michael Biehn ? Thx
Michael's accent sure has changed over the years.
In the full interview video, he mentions he had a stroke at one point in his life.
Good grief this guy talks in circles when telling a story!
I would have never guessed he was the actor from The Abyss. He looks so much different at his current age.
So underrated Michael is.
Micheal Biehn seems cool as hell
He sounds so different as a did from the movie.
Watch Michael Biehn in my TV Series "24 HOUR RENTAL" 😁👍🏻

It's a shame that Michael hasn't worked with James Cameron since Terminator 2. I heard that Jim wanted Michael for the role of Caledon Hockley in Titanic but Billy Zane ended up in that role.
I heard he was going to also play Miles Quaritch in Avatar, but then with Sigourney Weaver already in it, and it being about aliens, he didn't want it to feel like an Aliens reunion.
I absolutely love Michael Biehn. He is in so many of my favorite films. He is so good in everything. Johnny Ringo, Hicks, Coffee in the Abyss, Kyle Reese, The ONLY Kyle Reese. Another gem often overlooked is K2. He's amazing in that as well. Even cheesy navy seals he steals the show. Ed Harris nailed it in the Abyss though. Another phenomenal actor who doesn't get enough credit.
Being underwater and unable to get to the surface quickly and just having ALL LIGHT suddenly disappear sounds absolutely terrifying.
Air. They had air. Not oxygen - air. ALWAYS with the effing “oxygen” …😐
Favorite actor ever
Just like Stanley Kubrick did for the moon landing.
It’s crazy how somebody’s voice can change as a adult. He don’t sound nothing like he did when he played in terminator or even tombstone.
Love Michael Biehn. Hate the interviewer,
@@StatueofGuyThinkingdrugs? No. As a matter of fact, he had a stroke several years ago. So its amazing he's talking at all.
@@moviefan2517 However, he did have a serious substance abuse problem in his early days as an actor.
His performance in the rock bathroom/shower scene is brilliant and still gives me goosebumps.
Love Michael! I know there are several roles he’s able to play on. Maybe something to bring awareness to stroke victims and care for a loved one following such a devastating event. It would be a new type of character to play, yet nothing new, from the heart.
Just met Michael Beihn two weeks ago at the Days of the Dead convention in Atlanta! Super nice guy and would talk to fans for 10+ plus minutes in line to meet him. Got home to sign my Abyss DVD cover.
That Dracula poster behind the interviewer. Anyone know what it is? Can’t find that particular one anywhere.
Had such a HUGE crush on Michael in the 80s. He was damn hot.
Nothing like experiencing the abyss while filming it lol.
Bah! As long as there’s breathing gas getting to you, it’s all good! Abyss is one of my Top 5’s.
Doesn’t his voice sound a lot different?
They don’t breathe oxygen, they breathe air….
Is there a reason he sounds like this? I remember his voice sounding different and usually you expect a voice to deepen with age.
He had a stroke.
Practical light. I wonder if he meant to say TACTICAL light. lol. I’ve just never heard that term.
it's a film-set term. When you're filming you have the lights that you use to light the actors and sets that are not meant to be seen by the camera. And you have 'practical' lights, which are the ones that are supposed to be in the camera (like a lamp that's part of the set, or a flashlight that a character is holding, for example)
Can't you show clips?
This interviewer always interrupts too much. Let your guest tell their story.
Agree, it's very annoying.
Didn't James Cameron want Mike to star as Peter Parker in his version of Spiderman that never happened ?
No, he would've been too old. It was Dicaprio
Funny how his natural voice sounds so different
That's NOT his natural voice, he had a serious, severe stroke and almost died.
Best guest ever.
great story
This guy is trying so hard to be Rogan ...but his not 😂 , not even 200k subs and 40k watching 🤣🤣🤣
