I hope when you seal it, you let us see what that looks like..... it’s always nice to see the finished product. You and your crew really know how to do a great job....by the way, I bought one of your shirts!…very nice!…
Thanks so much for your support Rodney! We will def have a video sealing this beauty.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete beautiful work. Can you please tell me the type of stone you used. Please
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Do you apply the mix for stone veneer to a dry wall, or do you need to dampen like you would before a stucco application?
Thank you for sharing this video!! This wall looks so beautiful!!👍👍👏
TY
Beautiful work. Thanks for the lesson.
Fabulous workmanship

Looks awesome! Love the look the rock wall.

All around mint. Nice one fellas

1:17 Must have a lot of minerals in the water in CA. The Home Depot bucket sank into the lawn. Nice job by the way. I wish schools would start kids on a trade, Great artistic work.
Yes hard water in California
As always outstanding job 👍👍👍

Safety note here... when cutting stone you should be wearing eye protection, ear protection and a respirator if you don't have a wet cutting tool. This guy is an old salt and set in his ways, but you should always use proper safety gear when cutting masonry.
I should note, I think Odell is a righteous dude and spreads much knowledge... I really do appreciate him sharing his knowledge. I've learned a lot from him.
That's true I recommend wearing the safety gear.
Thanks for sharing your professional skills. I always wanted to know how stone finish was done. One more thing, please show work from wide back away view, so we can see how it looks in contrast to background.
I concur on the wide angle shots.
We just got a drone, maybe that will help
I'm laying in my bed in the truck with my windows down and when you said hello I legit got spooked.
Scary
Man that looks so goooooooooooood!
ty
Looks great came out really nice. I like the contrast between the two sides.
Thank you!
I really like this look. I am going to be putting it on my front porch
Good idea

Nice work 👍🏻
Thanks ✌️
Absolutely awesome job man

Have you looked at using Sticky Stone adhesive from Pave Tool? Looks like a great alternative.
Beautiful work!!
TY
Thanks for uploading this! I have a very similar finish design I wanted to do on a block wall I'm building next to my house and I was unsure of the correct process.
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
looks great!
Cool. Looks like when I lived in Laguna Niguel, CA doing landscape construction. When I was doing masonry I used to mix thin-set with the mortar because it's a sure thing bond on the cinder block. Too often just using mortar ends up not bonding into the pores of the stone and breaks loose over time.
I concur
TY
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I'm back in Colorado and I always mix in the thin-set with mortar because of the winter freeze-thaw cycles we get here. I don't use thin-set for the joints because it doesn't look aesthetically appealing. Anyway, when I was out there in SoCal it was big-time masonry construction. I even did tiling on driveways. It's not such big deal here in Colorado unless it's a high-end house.
Interesting
TY
Great video! Should you not dampen the cinder block before attaching the veneer?
Love you guys!
TY
Really nice work!!!
TY
Why mix verabond thinset into the specmix? The specmix already has a ton of polymer ( glue) in it?
Makes that much better
@@OdellCompleteConcrete FYI, versabond has less polymer in it then spec mix. It's not making it stronger. It's actually making it weaker. Just trying to be friendly 😉
Do you remember what the name of that stone was? It's really a great look and I would love to use it on a project.
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
EXCELLENT JOB

Nice work!! 😍

nice nice send it bro looks really great

@@OdellCompleteConcrete btw bro was it 2 feet that you guys dug when doing the brick wall
Great job

man this turned out great

Really nice job. I've been looking for videos related to stone veneer installation. I want to try on my house but I just don't have the confidence yet.
Build a small knee wall like the one in the video to get some practice. I'm planning on building one in the near future.
Try it on somebody else's house. If you don't like it at least you won't have to look at it every day. LOL
You can do it!
good idea
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I will give it a try after you upload 4 or 5 more job's like this one. Class is in session!
Great work
Looks Great!
TY
Awesome video
Looks nice!
TY
TY
Looks great. If the block has been painted do you do anything different?
yes, pressure wash to remove bad paint, and use glue to adhere
Those sitting walls add a nice touch of contrast against the house stucco...
I concur
Thanks again.
YW
Meh, I can do that... Yeahhhh right lol 😂
Excellent job you guys 👍😎
Go for it!
Because this is a poured cap, is there still a way to use those hardscape lights. They usually go inbetween the cap, but since this is poured, how would you do that? Put the hardscape light in before the pour and the wires inbetween and will sit in the poured concrete forever?
They make some very thin LED light strips that will glue underneath
Good stuff as usual David 🙂 I am a mason in Wildwood NJ and Philadelphia Pa, I have only one question for you bud why don't you guys ever use concrete rakes or what we call come a longs???? When putting down your driveways, garage floors???? Not knocking your way at all with rubber gloves and a shovel but than again we pour 100 yds at a time some days and use Georgia buggy's. You guys pump everything so I get it.... Hey buddy you are the best on the internet and your son Tim is right behind you!!!! God bless!!!!! From one Irishman to another!!!!!!!
The come along doesn't work well with pea gravel mix.
I do use it on the big rock.
TY
Outstanding
TY
Looks good
TY
I love that stone veneer. Could you tell me the manufacturer and color name of the stone veneer, please?
is this type of wall better, stronger, cheaper or more expensive than doing a formed cast and poured concrete wall?
Wood is exspensive right now
Enjoy the content from Kansas! Thanks!
Ty
Beautiful job as always David. Kind of a different design, on the front of that home, with the French doors leading to a front patio area. I've not seen that before but your work is always amazing. I just wished you did work outside of Orange County.
Me too
Looks great! do you have a specific product you use if you want it to have wet look?
Sure, check out my latest video
U don’t pre wet the block before putting the stone on? Just asking because I really don’t know if that’s crucial or not 😂🤷🏽♂️
Not with thinset
I'm curious. What was the reason for having the stone finish on the front but the white finish on the back, was it purely just to do what was gong to be visible for people passing by?
Potentially next phase front of house and garage
How much was this project from start to finish!? Awsome work!!! Like always
9500
Lol damn. 9,5k
David, if you were going to stick stone veneer to hardi backer could you use the same mixture you used on the wall?
Sure
Great video! Is it best practice to always start at the bottom and work your way up? I have a concrete retaining wall that varies from 16" down to 11" and wondering where all the cut stone should go - top row or bottom? This is thin stone veneer I will be using with grout lines. I was thinking I wanted all the cut stone on the bottom row. Any recommendations? Thx!
Layout some stone on the floor to get a pattern and vertical measurement that's close to the 11". install a level board down from the top the same as the vertical measurement. Lay stone on the board up to the top. Remove the board and fill in the bottom with the cut pieces.
If it is a low wall with an overhang or cap, cuts will be less seen on the top
I've seen people at the top or mid way with a temporary ledger
@@larrykeenan598 Thanks Larry!
@@biffmcgraw5507 The stone is about 1" - 2" thick and the overhang will only be about 1.5" - 2". Do you think with that amount of overhang you would not notice it as much on the top? It does not seem like that much overhang to me to cover it up.
Fantastic
Nice job. I will be veneering a sitting wall with marble on an upcoming job. Can I start from the coping and work down?
Yes if you have a way of holding it there
Amazing job
About how much should I charge to install venner per sq foot labor only ?

Damn bro you and @mikehaduck are the best on this stuff no cap
Get it on

Not everybody has the same taste. I prefer the stucco over the stone. It melds with the house better.
We may put more stone on the House fascia at front yard
Awesome
Very nice good sir.
My Pappy always said “Never use your hand as a hammer, they make things to do just that”. A rubber mallet perhaps? Tapa taappa . . .
Good idea
Smart! I have a truck for concrete coming next week, I will get some slabs and a foundation poured then I will dot my BBQ area like this.
awesome
How about a link to the stove veneer product? Absolute shame you didn't do the other side of the wall, but I understand homeowners. Nice work
TY
a liitle rough around the edges there my man. But, hey.....I'm an ultra modern clean lines kinda guy.
A little more custom with the different themes.
The stucco will get painted also.
Hi. I'm from Brazil.
I'd like to know why do they make this little wall in front the house....
Privacy wall for front patio.
Also prevent bad drivers from running in to the house
@@OdellCompleteConcrete tks odell
@@ivanbagual it's where they hitch there horses
@@billyfield8984 wow
could you do one with natural stick on rock on top of cinderblock? thanks. Great videos
Yes
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Thank you, looking forward to it.
i know this sounds like a silly question but if i'm trying to get into that work field installing stone like you're doing on this video, what would you recommend me looking for?
straight and clean
Bellissimo!!
TY
Great job !! What is the exact ratio/ contents of the adhesive you used to bond the stone veneer to block wall? Does wall have to be prepped prior to application? Striated trowel not needed???
Many thanks.....
Old walls should pressure washed first.
The ratio I use is one bag spec to one bag thinset
Wish you would have put some liner on the c wall before applying those tiles but none the less I love you're work. A ok with peligro
OSS
Why do you not use a notched trowel (square notches or v-shaped)?
No need in this application
Good job amigo
Gracious
8:08 Looks like the stucco on the front of the house needs a good cleaning. It gets drowned out by the sunlight when looking at it from the right, but you see the dirt and gunk build up real clear looking at it from the left.
Yes it needs some work
