you dont wanna cut up the dummy because if you make a mistake when patterning, u still have the original dummy to go back and re-pattern or fix it on. if you cut up the dummy and screw something up, you'll have to remake the dummy.
Fursuit maker here! So to answer you question regarding using the DTD for your pattern it is possible to use the top part for the pattern but you can’t for the bottom since you have the foam over it. It’s also easier to save your DTD in case you want to make another suit in the future. You’d have to go through the whole process all over again to make one so it’s easier to just deal with the plastic wrap and duck tape.
I just have no life lol. I pretty much just worked on this suit + video every second I wasn't at work. Except for the beginning I couldn't work on it for like a week because I couldn't go over to the other house where it was stored until the weekend.
For the tape on top of tape on the duct tape dummy, I found a better solution. Instead you get patterning paper used for fashion patterns and pins and make the pattern that way. I use it for fashion, cosplaying, and fursuiting. It has saved me a lot of time and money overall.
Ofc if any professionals can explain why not please do. I am only 16 but I have been doing fashion design and competitive cosplay for years now and I find this method works best. Idk maybe i just innovated a new method or something.
Oh my gosh you did it! It looks amazings!!! I am also looking forward to making my first everl partial suit, I am currently waiting on the foam to arrive before I start : 3
This is awesome! (absolutely subscribed now) Everything looks really good so far! also this reminds me of my first attempt making digi legs and I hot glued the pants to myself 😂
Same! I finally am restarting work on my first partial suit after seeing his first head which gave me a lot of inspiration and hope. You should go for it!
Reason for not cutting up the dummy itself: You use that as a mannequin for the body suit to make sure everything's lining up and fitted well on that as it's easier to check for mistakes than trying to look for them while wearing it :)
im not a furry nor do i care to become one but i enjoy watching these videos. very impressive and i cant wait to follow your progress in your fursuit making
Your speed is very impressive! If you make another fursuit and want to use the black duct tape try a white paint marker, that's how many fursuit makers write on black material, if you see this I hope it helps and I love your work so far!
Ooh! It’s impressive how much you’ve improved since your last fursuit, lol. 08:06 You don’t really need to, to be honest. My last fursuit went perfectly fine and I just cut up the dtd.
for your duct tape issue, you could buy a pack of silver sharpies so you can write on the black duct tape. or maybe even a white pastel? thats what i'd do
Not an expert but I think the reason they don’t cut the duck tape dummy is so that they can reuse it and not have to make a new one every time they want to make a fursuit
Why shouldn’t you cut up the dtd? Probably so that you can use it again, build the suit on it, use it when trimming, etc. Especially if you get something wrong
I became interested in the idea of making my own suit a little over a week ago and like your videos because you started with the same amount of crafts experience I have (zero). If you don't mind, could you list all the materials you ended up needing, and where you got them? As well as any tools you had to buy, that you didn't just have lying around? Also, how loose/tight is the suit from following a duct tape dummy?
Sure! Chances are you're not from the UK, so here's a website with a bunch of stores that sell fur, foam etc. in different countries: fursuitmaterials.com/fur/ But if by chance you are from the UK and want to buy the same stuff as me, I bought fur and Spandex lining from: crsfurfabrics.co.uk/ I bought foam from: www.efoam.co.uk/ I bought eye mesh and plastic from: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/711984958/mesh-fabric-fursuit-eyes-diy-kit?gpla=1&gao=1&&CjwKCAjw9eO3BhBNEiwAoc0-jVHpBZ60eB06ufhKyLVTBMV55zpVB6_hYwAwKEEts0JK03q0VBDMORoCifkQAvD_BwE_k_&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw9eO3BhBNEiwAoc0-jVHpBZ60eB06ufhKyLVTBMV55zpVB6_hYwAwKEEts0JK03q0VBDMORoCifkQAvD_BwE Everything else was bought from eBay or in person stores. I needed: -fur -foam -eye mesh -white plastic for eyes -acrylic paint -paint sealant -spandex lining -scissors -pet clippers (7F blade) -hot glue gun -electric knife -sharpies -duct tape -sewing machine -sewing clips -sewing needle -thread -measuring tape -tailors chalk And to answer your question, not really tight at all! I was worried it was going to be tight because the pieces seemed small individually and the dummy itself was very tight but once I sewed it all together, it was fine! Hope this helps!
I'm gonna make a fullsuit soon and i'm actually not gonna use the dtd Yes ik it might be stupid But instead im gonna glue foam to someold clothes and then i'm gonna wrap myself in plastic wrap and tape myself, take it of and draw om it and cut out the tape So when the tape is not on the clothes foam thing there's not gonna be Any tape but just foam and clothes instead And i'm doidn that bc i'm not using that much duck tape to tape myself TWICE when i can just tape half of myself ones with paddings on Yes ik i'mm gonna struggle more but irdc

There's this good foam that's thin it's called Eva foam& it's stays in place when you glue it bending it can be thick
You could use for details like eyelashes & eyelids
@@SILLY_MI know you’re not talking to me, but thanks for the tips!
@@Wolfdog992 yup!:)
@Wolfdog992 I use them for my masks but I think it could be of use in fursuits

The first feet are hilarious, but the final feet look awesome!
Tip!: On black tape you can use a white Posca paint marker thing! (Or just any white marker but I feel like posca works a lot more for me!)

@DuskflameStudios
Wow Your such a fast worker, Also congrats on 5k!
You could've used silver sharpie for the black tape. So you could use the black tape.
I love this series
Fantastic, share the talent.
wait omg this guy has 4k subscribers now I remember watching his first fursuit head video back in july and he only had like 100 😲😳
the duct tape dummy method is tedious and time consuming
but very useful
Omg the wait is over
for your duct tape issue, you could buy a pack of silver sharpies so you can write on the black duct tape. or maybe even a white pastel? thats what i'd do
convenient, i discovered the other videos earlier today and here is pt 2 :D
Hiiiii I mist your fur suit making so I’m so happy to see you do this
HES BACK 🙏
YOU'RE MY FAVORITE FURRY AND YOU ONLY HAVE 3 VIDS!! I love your videos man 🫶

Subbed since the first one came out 3 days later
Congratulations of hitting 3K subs and hi again
For the black tape u could of used white sharpies or smthn idk :D
I wish I had your talent
Ahhh congrattttsss
Not an expert but I think the reason they don’t cut the duck tape dummy is so that they can reuse it and not have to make a new one every time they want to make a fursuit
Also so that it fits you nicely and it isn't too tight
Why shouldn’t you cut up the dtd? Probably so that you can use it again, build the suit on it, use it when trimming, etc. Especially if you get something wrong
You could just use a white acrylic marker to mark on the black tape
To write on black tape use acrylic sharpies Just a heads up for you in the future 😁😁 #duskflame
I love this channel there should be more videos like this

Everything else was bought from eBay or in person stores.
I needed:
-fur
-foam
-eye mesh
-white plastic for eyes
-acrylic paint
-paint sealant
-spandex lining
-scissors
-pet clippers (7F blade)
-hot glue gun
-electric knife
-sharpies
-duct tape
-sewing machine
-sewing clips
-sewing needle
-thread
-measuring tape
-tailors chalk
And to answer your question, not really tight at all! I was worried it was going to be tight because the pieces seemed small individually and the dummy itself was very tight but once I sewed it all together, it was fine!
Hope this helps!
So awesome i love it
More brilliant British furry content
The reason why the other sowing machine didn’t work, bc it’s a felt(it’s made for felt)
Amazing❤!
Your suit is so awesome
YAAAAA
Pro tip silver sharpie works on black tape also you can reuse the duck tape dummies so it’s best to not cut it up
I'm gonna make a fullsuit soon and i'm actually not gonna use the dtd
Yes ik it might be stupid
But instead im gonna glue foam to someold clothes and then i'm gonna wrap myself in plastic wrap and tape myself, take it of and draw om it and cut out the tape
So when the tape is not on the clothes foam thing there's not gonna be Any tape but just foam and clothes instead
And i'm doidn that bc i'm not using that much duck tape to tape myself TWICE when i can just tape half of myself ones with paddings on
Yes ik i'mm gonna struggle more but irdc
