Scottie Scheffler returns to Austin Country Club to defend his title at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. By doing so, he would become the first person since Tiger Woods in 2004 to do so. The event will see 64 players, split into 16 groups of four compete in a round-robin format. After this, the player with the most points advances to single elimination play. Eight out of nine of the top players in the world with Ryder Cup teammates Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy both teeing it up in Texas. The Spaniard has been grouped with Rickie Fowler who, despite not winning on tour in over four years could prove a formidable opponent, having made the cut in every PGA TOUR event in 2023. McIlroy won the event in 2015 in which was the last WGC Match Play before it moved from Harding Park, California to Austin, Texas. Other notable names to look out for include 2021 winner Billy Horschel, two-time winner Jason Day and World No. 9 Viktor Hovland.

so strange on the par 4 13th. MW hits it short to have a pitch up and avoid trouble, fitz goes for it, pulls it into the stands ... and gets rewarded with a very pleasant drop near the green, no penalty. Like how the heck does that work....
that rule needs to change somehow because they usually get a really good lie and not too hard to get up and down. It is a little bit unfair and against the spirit of the game because many golfers do indeed hit it into the stands knowing they will get relief.
Been an issue for years
Getting a free drop if you hit it into the stands on 13th is such a dumb rule and a copout for the players. It should incur a one stroke penalty along with the drop. You can tell it ticked off Min Woo quite bad because he started smashing his club into the ground on subsequent holes.

What is acc hype? As for hype, it's justified. Definitely in the top 10 players as far as talent goes.

To me that plane so annoying to hear throughout all 18, maybe to them it’s brain noise to not be quiet in their own mind, maybe lawnmower idk.

Sometimes it's gamesmanship. You don't want your opponent to see too many fall early in a round so you give them on the front.
DP tour trying to capitalise on Fitzpatrick's PGA win this weekend. So obvious.....
They can try, but PGA is the history, hopefully PGA can do it a event around all the World like a ATP in the Tennis where have tournaments in all places... Spain for say 1 😅
