Hello Jennifer & Steve Beautiful hike up to this quiet beach …so serine ! Sure must be careful to hike along the shore not to get caught by the tide . The log sure was getting a hard time rolling into the waves. Was that a seal 🦭 we saw ? The deer at the end was so nice 🤩 in the greenery Nice and relaxing video 😉👍 Have a great week Hélène &Serge 👩❤️👨🌈🇨🇦

Nice area and exploration Jennifer. Well done on your video. Sure is relaxing to watch where you go and what you see. Interesting to see the tide charts. Great hike along the beach. Beautiful area. Be safe out there. Take care and have a great day.

Good morning Becca! I'm sure you'd enjoy the area and get some awesome nature photos too! I'm hoping we can go back and stay a little longer next time... maybe in the spring there might be more birds. At any rate, it's a wonderful natural area- thanks! Hope you're having a great week!
Excellent! We have a Dungeness too, on the south coast of England. Like yours, it is a very important nature reserve. Thanks for sharing the bird list too....that got me all excited 😁. It looks a tremendous wildlife area. Best wishes, Chris
Hi Chris! Glad you enjoyed it! If I have time I’m going to try to go back in the spring with some binoculars and my bird book. It’s a little too far away for a day trip, especially with the short winter days. There’s a loop hike up on the bluff area, but what’s most exciting for me is the water / beach area. Thanks, best wishes! ~ Jennifer 🐦🐦💙
Hi Donna! Thanks for joining us… I find it very peaceful too! I’m sure you’d find lots of interesting nature with the birds and driftwood. We saw a cluster of barnacles clinging to one piece of driftwood … I bet they’ll be happy when the tide comes back in. I think there will be more birds visiting during the spring migration … we were maybe seeing the winter guests. 🐦🐦 Thanks Donna… I hope you’re staying warm! 🙋🏼♀️🌊☀️
Hi Jennifer 👋 !! A great location to explore, lovely forest, coastal features and wildlife 😊👍 !! I guess it’s named after Dungeness on the south coast of England, which is also a well known coastal feature 🌊🌊🌊🚶♂️✅ ! Thanks again, cheers, Don 🙋♂️ !!
Hi Don, yes, I read that Dungeness is named after the location in England! I will go look that up and add a link.. thanks! I read about it, but hadn’t followed up yet! This is another one of our beach areas that’s great to explore year round. Next time I go back I’ll try to go when I can see more birds. Cheers! 🙋🏼♀️~ Jennifer
I always find it nice and interesting to return to a place where you've been before. What has changed. I still like it there. Or not at all. However, the place is so beautiful that you can always come back. The beginning of the hike is a really beautiful forest path. Only when you hear the sound of the sea do you recognize the proximity of the water. The first view of the coast from above is beautiful. The large amount of wood makes the headland very interesting. Here you can watch wonderful birds. I was happy to accompany you again. Thank you for taking me with you. Warm greetings, Anita
Hello Anita! Thanks for your thoughtful comments! It’s great to hear from you! We really enjoyed our time at the beach… so nice of you to join us. Have a wonderful day! 🌊🌊🐦💙
Can't beat it on a dry sunny day! Made it out to the lighthouse years ago and got to go up in it. Timing the tides is critical if you don't want be climbing driftwood on the way back. I know from experience. 😉 Thanks Jennifer!
Hi Philip! Glad to hear you made it out to the Lighthouse and back safely!! I think it’s really best for a summertime adventure when you have more daylight and can get an extra low tide. I wouldn’t want to mess with the waves and water overtopping the spit! The nature opportunities here are amazing! Did you know the spit grows by about 14 feet per year!! 😄🌊🌊🐧🐦
What a great trail and park to go for a hike in!! Love that view between the trees at 2:37 and seeing the tide roll in at 3:45 too! Great video Jennifer!
Morning Eric- thanks! It’s a really great place to explore- isn’t the tide fun to watch! The coast is always dynamic, especially noticeable with the driftwood. Thanks and have a great day!! 🌊🌊🌊
Hi Ryan! I’m sure you would love visiting this area! Wasn’t that an impressive list! If I have time I’m going to try to visit again in the spring, this year or next, and look for more of the birds… sounds like fun! 🙋🏼♀️🐦🐦🐦
Not a bad temperature and without the wing it looked a great day for a hike. Great trail through the woods and a nice viewpoint, a lot of driftwood on the beach and what a great sound the waves crashing on the beach. Loved the moody skies you got walking along the beach and all the wildlife, especially the deer at the end, cheers Alan
Hi Alan! How are things in the UK? It sure was nice to have little to no wind for our hike, and no rain! I’m sure you can imagine that it can get pretty windy out on the spit. It’s got great atmosphere and wildlife viewing… I’m hoping we go back again before too long 👌😄 Wasn’t that a bonus to see the deer! Thanks. 🌊🐦🌲💙💚
As someone who has hiked out to the Lighthouse and back three times, I always tell folks that it's 5.5 miles out and 25 miles back....at least that is how it seems when you've hiked out, climbed the lighthouse for a tour, and hiked back. That last hill up to the parking lot can be a killer. It is certainly beautiful and peaceful, but you MUST watch out for the tides, logs/driftwood, and the changing weather. Enjoyed your tour....that mammal out in the water was probably a harbor seal -- there are some big ones that hang out there.
Wow! Amazing that you made it out and back 3 times!! What month did you go? Seems like it would have to be summer since you have more light and hopefully extra low tides. I wouldn’t want to be forced up into the driftwood… and you’ve got to be off the beach 1/2 hour before sunset. Wow- I can imagine how tiring that last bit is climbing up! I sure would like to try it, but I’d also like to go out a ways and enjoy the birds and wildlife. Thanks!
@@JenniferLupine Best time to go is definitely Summer. Tried to go once on a beautiful April day and got snowed on! First time was the Fifth of July, when Summer really begins in Sequim.😉
What a serene and picturesque hike! 😍 The combination of the lush forest and the calming sound of the ocean waves makes it a perfect escape into nature. 🌳🌊 The wildlife encounters were a delightful bonus, capturing the beauty of the birds and the graceful deer. 🐦🦌 It's incredible how the beach is adorned with unique driftwood, adding a touch of charm to the landscape. 🏖 The video showcased the best of the Pacific Northwest's breathtaking scenery, leaving us with a sense of awe and tranquility. 🌲🌅 Thank you for taking us on this virtual adventure; it felt like a refreshing break from our busy lives. 🚶♂💫
Hi friends, thank you! We love having driftwood on our beaches! So many trees wash down the rivers then end up on the beaches- it’s left there as part of the natural ecosystem and people aren’t allowed to collect it on the public lands. O yes, we love the birds and wildlife. I’m happy you found it calming. 👌 I really appreciate your visit and thoughtful comments. Have a great upcoming week! 😄 Cheers- Jen
What a wonderful combination of beach and forest hike with great chance to see interesting animals! The tide times are probably very important to note, especially in winter... Best regards from Cologne and a big like!
Hi and thanks! It really is a nice combination of woods and open coast hiking. I’m always impressed how the forest goes right up to the water’s edge around here. Yes, it gets dark these days about 5:00p and in the summertime it gets dark about 9:30p… someday I’ll try to hike all the way out on a long summer day! 😁🌊🌊🐦🐦💙
Me too! It's an amazing area- and probably would be different every time you visited! We hiked around up in the bluff areas, but I loved the beach the most. Thanks!!
Nice trail. Beautiful country. I love the sound of the ocean. Also noticed the sign which listed the birds in the area, amazing the number of different species. I’m lucky to see 10 varieties in my community. I love all the driftwood. Our world is so amazing and we take it for granted most days. Nothing as calming as a walk in the woods or by the seashore. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thanks for joining us Carroll! Wasn’t that bird list amazing! I will definitely have to bring my bird book next time, and binoculars! I wouldn’t even recognize all the birds listed! I totally agree… very relaxing to take time for a walk and enjoy nature- the woods and seashores are amazing! Best not to take anything for granted! ☺💙💚🌲🌊
Hi Jennifer! Looks like a wonderful place to watch the waders! I wouldn't like to get caught out there if the weather turned bad, though! 😁 We also have an RSPB nature reserve in Kent called Dungeness. Never had a chance to visit, but it is a well know spot for birders. All the best and catch you soon👍😊
Hi and thanks Des! I’m sure this location is named after the one near you! The name has also been given to the local river that empties into the water just behind the spit. It’s also interesting that we have a city in the area, near Seattle, that’s named Kent! Lots of our place names came from the early explorers, others come from the local native peoples. 👌 I’m going to look up your Dungeness and add a link in the description. Thanks! 😄🐦🐦🐧
@@JenniferLupine I find the bird names interesting too... like American Robin. Must have been the first species they saw that reminded them of what they used to see at home! 🙂
Hello Jennifer... You are always have a gorgeous hike and I love your adventures. Love those sceneries and weather conditions, Greeny surrounding are refreshing. I enjoyed watching
Yes! That type of crab lives along the west coast of N America, but it’s name does come from Dungeness Spit… according to Wikipedia! 👌 The crabs live in the shallow bay here. Their range is from Alaska to Santa Barbara, CA. !!
As always, a pleasure to share your walk Jennifer. It has been so long since I've been to Port Angeles it seems like it happened to someone else. peace
Hi Kirk! Thanks for joining us and saying hello! For those of us who live in the Cascade foothills, or near Tacoma/ Olympia, it takes a bit of time and lots of effort to get out to the Olympics! It’s hard to get much done in just a one day that’s for sure! This time we planned a long weekend- I find it’s always relaxing once I get out there! Thanks! peace 😄💚
Thanks Soren! There are quite a few nice beach trails around the Olympic Peninsula… it’s great that this area is protected for wildlife. Thanks so much for joining us! 😄🌊🌊🌊
Hi, Jennifer! This hike was a nice combination of the woods and the sea. The noises of the ocean are always so calming and soothing. And so was the wide open view out to the sea. Thank you for sharing, Werner
Thanks Werner! This beach is a really great place to see the waves in action and enjoy seeing s few birds too. It’s really too far to get out to the lighthouse and back in the wintertime- maybe when there’s a low tide in the summer. Thanks for visiting- have a great day! 😄🌊🌊🐦🐦
Another beautiful hike, I love the undergrowth. And the passage on this wild beach, the sound of water and these stranded tree trunks, as if they had something to tell us. I often realize that I like it when the weather is grey and the surface of the water turns a "silver" color... Your pleasure at seeing all these wonders is very communicative. Thank you for the deer ...😉
Thank you so much! I always enjoy hearing from you! I enjoy the grey weather too… and watching the moody ocean… I like to know that it is always there … with the advancing and retreating tides, and the birds resting in the calm water. I’m happy you enjoyed the cute deer. 😄💙💙🐦🐦🌊🌊
It was wonderful joining you on the walk Jennifer. Great hike on the trail to the spit and loved seeing the birds in their habitat with the soothing sound of the waves in the background. The Pacific Northwest is such a beautiful part of the country. The distant stunning views of the surrounding landscapes take my breath away. Thank you! Best regards, Cathy
Hi Cathy - thanks for joining us! This Wildlife Refuge sure has a lot to offer! I’m sure you would love it and find many of the listed birds! It’s wonderful to have the bluff area as well as the sheltered coastal areas protected. I’m so happy you enjoyed the atmosphere and the views! Have a lovely week! ~ Jennifer
What a wonderful day you had. that's a neat little walk, just a sandy strip out into the strait. Sure seemed peaceful with the surf crashing on one side and the calm waters on the other. Perfect solitude for y'alls picnic lunch. Awesome vid Jennifer!
Hi Karl! It’s a really great place to visit, and even better with a picnic! lol. it does seem quite a contrast to have the wind and waves on one side and the calmness on the other. If we lived closer I’d definitely visit more often! Thanks! 🌊🌊🐦~ Jennifer
This beach looks so beautiful with very clean sand. And those woods looks pretty, along the trail in the woods to the beach, just suddenly very wide open in front of eyes. Feel so great. Thank you for wonderful sharing 😍❤️👍👍
Hi Color! Thank you! It’s a really special place, glad you enjoyed it! I’m always amazed at how the forest grows all the way up to the beach… yes, when you walk along and finally reach the beach, it’s amazing! In the summertime it stays light until about 9:30p, so that would be a great time to try to walk all the way out to the lighthouse… the beach closes just before sunset, which is about 5:00p now, so there’s not enough tie to get all the way out and back. Thanks, and have a great week! 🌊🌊🐦🐦

Thanks Gasper! It’s a really nice wildlife refuge- with great access to the spit, even though the inside area is protected. Thank you for uploading this. Used to live in Sequim, but moved away and have not been able to visit since. Miss the area and all of the hiking opportunities. This beings back memories. Hiked the Dungeness Spit quite a few times; canoed along it once and saw seals. The Spit always has driftwood along it, and it's fun to see the little driftwood huts people have made while hiking.

The forests there are so thick with undergrowth... It seems particularly in the lower elevations... I have walked along the beach in CA when the tide was coming in... It seemed quite fast...
Hi Max! Yes, isn’t it amazing how thick the forests are… it feels damp, but refreshing for a winter hike. 🌲🌲💚 The incoming tides can really sneak up on you… and with the driftwood and other debris it’s super important to pay attention along these beaches. We went to the beach in CA when I was younger, but as kids we didn’t have tide charts, we just knew the ocean was going to come up and knock down our sand castles - lol!!

Good morning Becca! I'm sure you'd enjoy the area and get some awesome nature photos too! I'm hoping we can go back and stay a little longer next time... maybe in the spring there might be more birds. At any rate, it's a wonderful natural area- thanks! Hope you're having a great week!
Hello
Wow love the view with all the waves... great to hear them too. (zen moment) thanks for sharing your hike. Take care
Hi Alex… got to love those zen moments! Thanks! 🌊🌊🐦🐦
So peaceful there. I could listen to the ocean waves for hours. Beautiful hike, Jennifer!
Nice trail and video Jennifer. You have a wonderful week 👍
Thank you! You too! 🌊🌊🌊🐦
Really amazing views! Cool video!
Hi and thanks! We really enjoyed our visit and would love to go back. Thanks for joining us and saying hello! 🌊💙🐦🐦
Very nice content thanks for that long walk with you . Watched full video sending support from New Zealand
Hi Miss Ann in New Zealand! Great to have you join us! I wish we were having warm weather, but we’re in our gray and rainy season… thanks! 😄🌊🌊🌊
It's fun to walk on the beautiful trail. The sea is deserted and the waves are calm. Wishing you a happy and successful new year.
Thank you! We were sure happy that it didn’t start raining! Great to walk along the beach! 😁🌊🌊🌊
These shots are amazing, what a unique place. Trail looks so unique 👌👌
Thanks Ervin! It’s a early nice beach - thanks! 🌊🌊🌊☀️
Hi
Very nice trail!
Thank you Glenna! Great to have you visit! 😄🌊🌊🐦
I would enjoy hiking this trail breathing in the fresh air. Hearing the sound of the ocean, wind and birds was super relaxing. 👍💯⌚
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks! I'm hoping to go back during the spring bird migration. :)
It's nice to go out for an early morning walk in the beach like this the view is very relaxing
I totally agree! Thanks so much! 🐦🐦🌊🌊💙
Really beautiful spot! I was impressed by that list of birds to lookout for and your sightings as well, great video!
Thanks. 🌊🐦🌲💙💚
What a great hiking trail and leading up to those oceanic views 😁 felt like an ASMR with the waves and forest sounds :)
Thanks Kevin! It’s pretty peaceful there! I’m happy it’s protected for the wildlife, and that a potion is open for us to enjoy too.. thanks! 🌊🌊🐦🐦🌲🌲

Oh my God what a beautiful place you visited dear friend Jennifer!
Magnificent views! Awesome walk!
THANKyou....
Thank you so much Bapi! We ere really happy it didn’t rain- it’s a very relaxing area! 🐦🐦🐦
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip on the harbor seal! We could see the nose and that was about it 😄
@@JenniferLupine Best time to go is definitely Summer. Tried to go once on a beautiful April day and got snowed on! First time was the Fifth of July, when Summer really begins in Sequim.😉
@@salishseaquest7952 Ha, lol! Yep, summer starts the day after July 4th! Lol!! 😄
Went there 3 years ago, loved the 2 hikes we did there. Did not want to leave. If lived in the area, I think I'd be there daily
Thank you so much! I enjoy hearing from you, thanks and have a great week! 😁🌲🌲
OK, is this where the name Dungeness Crabs come from? The area looks so prehistoric. It reminds me of the Jurassic Park movie. LIKE 52. 👍👍👍👍
Thanks! peace 😄💚
First watching
Beautiful beach, I really enjoy watching
Thank you so much! Great to have you be first! 😄👌 🌸🌺🌸
Amazing place and very relaxing place to visit. Thanks for a great watch.
Dear my friend.
nice beautiful beach walk sharing video. full watch😊👍
I hope you have a nice day tomorrow.
Thank you Ryo! You too!
Thank you for sharing this lovely hike, Jennifer! What a beautiful beach! I hope you have a fantastic weekend, my friend. 😊🎹

Thank you so much! It’s great to have you visit! 🐦🐦🌊🌊
It's always great to miss the rain!
You’re so right, thanks Alan! 😄🌊🌊🌊
What a wonderful scenery. Love the bird captured
Thanks so much! I think the birds really enjoy this area! 🐦🐦🌊🌊

Hike on the Dungeness Spit which is very exciting. The stunning Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge, Sequim, Washington. I encountered many beautiful things, comfortable streets, stunning beach panoramas. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video.
Hi Adelia! Thanks so much for visiting! It’s a lovely and refreshing place for a hike. Happy Friday! 🐦🐦🐦
Beautiful relaxing beach walking tour. Enjoyed this so much. Nice sharing my friend.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much, Happy Friday!
Beautiful nature! You are lucky to experience this hike, it's glorious. What a wonderful sandy beach as well
There are parts of the walk that are very treacherous.....cobbles that are difficult to walk on as you get closer to the lighthouse.
Thanks! It’s a really pretty area- when the tide comes in it will get all the way up to the driftwood!! Happy Sunday! ☀️☀️
Enjoy hiking footage from the beautiful Washington Sekim, Dungens Spit National Wildlife Refuge.🌴
Thanks friend! It's a great place to explore and relax! :)

This was such a peaceful hike. Wonderful combination of the sea and woods. Nice that there is a sheltered area for the wildlife on the beach. Nice video capture of some of the birds and the deer.
Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week, Jennifer.
Thanks Gasper! It’s a really nice wildlife refuge- with great access to the spit, even though the inside area is protected. We’ve been to some places where there’s really no where to observe the wildlife, even from a distance. We enjoyed the beach and the birds! 😄 Thanks!! You too, have a lovely week!
Many woods on the beach, same like here's too when heavy wave and winds, pretty birds, I enjoy this explore ✈️ 🌊 beautiful. Thank you 🙏🏽🤗💙

That’s such a beautiful view, Jennifer. 2:53 We have been to Dungeness Pit when we went to Sequim to buy from We Do Fudge we saw on the news. Love the peaceful and quiet place. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Cute deer at the end. 👍🏻🤗♥️
Hi Anna and Russell! I’m happy to hear that you’ve been to Sequim and went for a walk at Dungeness Spit too! I would expect it’s great year round… I want to go back in the spring when there might be a few more birds! We haven’t heard of We Do Fudge, sounds delicious! I'm such a sign nerd... I really enjoyed your intro! What a cool, unique trail -- important to time things right! Enjoyed the driftwood and the peaceful sounds of the waves 👍

Good morning! Great to hear you’ve enjoying hiking at the Spit and living in Sequim! It’s beautiful all year long! I’ve visited a few times, including for the lavender festival! I love the beach area by the spit. Someday I’ll go at low tide and make it all the way to the lighthouse and back. Thanks for watching and saying hello! 😄🩵💙💚

Love the sound of waves! Wonderful footage
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks! 🐦🐦🌊🌊
Thanks for sharing a beautiful place with your wonderful trip 🌸🌸🌸👍

Nice hike at Dungeness Spit. Beautiful stretch of sand, the sounds of waves and the spooky driftwoods and the birds.. perfect afternoon vibes. Would love to see you hike upto the lighthouse some time in the future on a clear spring or summer day. Have a great week, Jennifer. Take care!
Isn’t it wonderful! I would really like to hike all the way out too! I’ll be watching for when there is a low/low tide near 11:00 in the early spring… that should give me enough time if I start around 8:00! The lighthouse used to be open for tours… I’d love to see inside too, wouldn’t that be a bonus! 😄 Thanks! 🙋🏼♀️🌊🌊🌊
