I love the inherent irony of a standard Trigger protagonist trapped in a tragedy instead of a comedy
technically, atleast in greek times, tragedies were just comedies but with no good ending or plot armor at the end
''You chromed your dick?!"' words that shook me to my core.
A certain type of man dreams of getting the cyberdick extension, but none are prepared for the reality.
@@busa1951 I want mine hydrodynamically compatable with port and starboard attachements and turbodrive.
I want my cyberdick to be compatible with usb ports
I'd describe Cyberpsychosis as:
"Turn yourself into a hammer, start seeing nails."
Tragedy reminds us that our lives and stories matter even when we’re not triumphant. You’re important whether you one day get that happily ever after or not
I feel like Cyberpunk Edgerunners is on some sort of spectrum, with the other end of the spectrum being the Lego Movie.
As a hardcore fan of the old Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop, they knocked Edgerunners out of the park
There is a saying that goes something like society only prospers when men plant trees they will never see the shade of.
To me David is an ideal tragic protagonist, I love tragic characters that go down fighting.
My idea was the seasons would be different people who go into psychoses. David was the newest addition to the Edge runner games he played. I never thought Of a season 2 would happen would follow the same crew
One thing I'm surprised you guys didn't mention is the theme of the story that Lucy quotes in one of the earlier episodes: "You aren't remembered for how you lived. You're remembered for how you died." And then the series proceeds have characters we know and love die. But every single one of their deaths (and almost every single death of no-name characters, too) is played and replayed via action shots and whatnot. The only death that isn't shown in the entire show is David's. There's an off-screen gunshot to indicate he died, but that's it.
We then cut to Lucy on the moon, and the final few seconds are her reminiscing their time in the braindance, and the significance is made clear: he wasn't remembered for how he died; he was remembered for how he lived.
I think trying to pass off the ending as Lucy. Just being a damsel and distress really diminishes the serious situation she was in. In the back story of Lucy's life, she was a child, basically slave being trained to be a net runner and was the only survivor of an escape attempt, and all of the Tech that she uses throughout the show that was put into her by the corporation that. Then when they got ahold of her again in the last episode They could have done very horrible things to her that guaranteed. She never got away again. And I'm not talking like amputating a leg or drugging her or anything like that in this world. Your mind can be cut off from your brain and imprisoned in the internet. You can have your memory wiped and replaced with fake ones, or even be controlled against your will by hacking your tech. The ONLY way lucy was getting away from them is if someone came for her.
I really love this show, but I think it could’ve really benefitted from one more episode after the time skip. I really needed a date or some episode that focuses on Lucy and David to show how close they were.
I also felt like the show was saying a lot about the dangers of living for other people’s happiness through David. He was eventually rich and lived a good life, but it wasn’t Lucy’s dream and so he kept pushing until it killed him. I’ve always interpreted her final scene on the moon as very hollow because he wasn’t there with her. I think that’s the ultimate message of the show, that the people we care about would rather have us than have their dreams.
David tore his mind to pieces to give Lucy what he thought she wanted. But all she actually wanted was for him to be safe. She says that right after their first kiss. Whether or not that ever would have been possible in a world like that is a pretty bleak question, and I suppose that’s more the angle you guys tackled.
"Who coulda seen it coming" The Series was pretty good but I saw it coming
I just love hearing about this show. I didn't realize who guys were until I looked at your older videos I like the rebrand.
I love cyberpunk edgerunners and I love your guys content. I hope you guys make a video on the new murder drones episode. It's so good
I'm a fan of the Cyberpunk video game and I'll say, yeah it's got a lot of issues, but I think it's really good, I feel like the stories it tells are truly amazing
Yeah. I can't speak for what the game was like at launch, but having just gotten into it a few weeks ago I've really enjoyed it. It isn't perfect, but it's well written and voice acted, and at least in its current state the gameplay is fun too. Though again I can't vouch for whatever it was like at release.
*she cyber on my punk until I edgerunners*
love the channel rebrand!
Ngl when I saw the thumbnail and title of this I got grossed out assuming it was going to be one of those yt vids that mocks someone for not being a joyless dick and daring to enjoy something "to much" but then I saw who the video was by and felt better as you guys are probably just talking about friend of the chanel Charlie N.P. Cactus
Yeah, got scared this might've been a new low for Cyberpunk's seemingly redeemed reputation, but i guess we both got Bamboozled.
I need to play the ttrpg...
You can't fake that cyberFUNK
*Cyberfunk me up*
*WE ARE GOIN' ALLCITY WITH THIS ONE!*
That marvel only happens when Poles are writitng script. No happy endings always bitter sweet. Just like our reality in Poland.
Davids journey mirrors that of two other characters: Maine, and Adam Smasher.
All 3 became heavily augmented to be better at the lethal work they were doing and to survive in the world they live in.
All 3 bristle at the control of the corps but usually wind up doing the corps dirty work.
All three suffer from psychosis, although I argue that the psychosis has less to do with the chrome itself, and more to do with *what they had to mentally lose to get where they are*
David's first big loss was his mom, not his spine.
The second is when he loses Maine.
Then he shoots an innocent woman, and that unaddressed untreated trauma comes boiling out, and he starts to lose that last bit of himself that his lifestyle and circumstances hadn't already worn away..
It's only his bonds with Lucy and his friends that let him hold on as long as he does. It's all that separates him from the two men who's lives his path so closely mirrors.
I've never really understood why Lucy falls so hard and fast for David, but I still loved the show.
Not only that but I honestly didn't buy him becoming the new leader either. Earning their respect as a member of the crew, sure. Him becoming leader and following him after Maine died, that never really sold me. I like the show a lot but it felt like there was something missing in that jump.
I have no clue how the managed to make suff this good out of CP2077, legit had no expectations, i watched it late cause i didnt believe the hype for like a full month
Get A Robot Arm.
How about just a silver hand? 🤘
@@NonPlayerCactuswake the fuck up samurai, we’ve got a city to burn
im a bit of a cyberpunk:edger myself
Hey I'm Gus I'm not so Gus and we're...
how are you conflicted on Trigger? they dont miss
Finally another video from youse talking about something made for adults
Just because something isn't made for adults, doesn't mean that adults can't get something out of it, if you view media through a lens like that then you're leaving out a lot of really good stuff
Hey, quick unrelated question, is Higarashi what would happen if you made Happy Tree Friends into an anime?
крутая превью!
As always fashionably late
Cyberpunk? More like CyberBUNK
Nah, it's definitely in my Top 10 animus, Sci-Fi shōnen Scarface with a heavier anti-capitalist touch
If that's all you got from the show than you were not paying attention.
(My Opinions)
My biggest problem with this show is the relationship between Lucy and David. I cared for both characters as individuals but I didn't really care about there relationship.
The problem with there relationship is it seems to perfect and the show doesn't spend enough time developing there dynamic and instead focuses most of its time on having them help each other out.
A good relationship shouldn't be defind by 1 or both parties helping each other out through difficult times. In other words the manic pixie dream girl/boy.
The only part I liked about there relationship is how David died but managed to help her get to the moon. If your going to have manic pixie dream girl/boy storyline it should end in tragedy.
Also Lucy despite her good traits feels too much like a wish fulfillment character that a guy watching the show would want to be with, so having her getting into a relationship with the protagonist feels more like it was done for the male viewers then somthing the characters would do.
