Couldn't wait to get back to Missouri (ironic, being that when I lived there, we just rolled our eyes at people who lived in the Midwest. Now, you literally couldn't pay me to live out there). But I'm glad I lived there back then, otherwise I never would have been exposed to all the great bands that came out of So Cal -- and there wasn't satellite radio/TV or the internet, so I wouldn't hear it here for sure.

The 49er Tavern on Friday and Saturday nights, IIRC. I was there for many a show. Cheap admission, cheap beers, what more did you need as a poor student?
Besides the abysmal management of Jeane Doumanian, was a lost chance that SNL didn't follow that new wave path, with bands like this one or the Vicki (the valley girl) skits, more in sync with an audience younger. On the other hand, they found Eddie Murphy, and that was great
Lorne Michaels has always sucked and swallowed. SNL was curiously entertaining in Junior High and High School in the mid/late '80s, but otherwise awful overall.
