GetHip drives and reviews his 2013 B8.5 Audi RS5 in Sepang Blue with a 4.2L N/A V8 with 450BHP & Quattro 4 wheel drive.

To the Germans or whoever else.
I am 20. Not 40. Naturally the JDM community is more appealing to me. The STI has no traction control and is essentially plastic with a turbo on it. It's ridiculously fun to drive & there's far more avenues for future modification. I've owned the car for 3 months now, I love it, I've wanted it since I was 13 (in fairness not that long ago) This video was shot 4 months ago when I still owned the RS5.
The RS5 is fine. The V8 is great. It looks cool. Everything else is boring to me, as summarized in the video. I am not you. You can love or hate this car. I don't care.
Go watch my STI video here ruclips.net/video/gBlEm9DAdKc/видео.html
Having owned a WRX Type RA (factory rally spec with factory fitted VF22 turbo) I can definitely understand the appeal. A proper manual transmission, punchy engine and a lightweight chassis is always a good recipe for fun. Since then I have owned an R35 GTR and currently own an RS5 (among various Australian high performance V8s and turbocharged 6 cylinder cars). The RS5 is extremely compromised and I didn't start to truly overcome my annoyances with it until I removed the catalytic converters and had an aggressive engine and transmission tune put on it. Best recorded 0-60 was 3.74 seconds and that was with a less aggressive tune than what I have now. But that leads to another annoyance. You have to pull the whole engine to remove the headers (just about most things actually) on the RS5, so an exhaust (catless), intake and tune cost me about what I sold the WRX for once upon a time. The aftermarket tuning support for the WRX platforms is endless and you can do most of the work yourself with a basic toolbox.
You've had your experience in both cars, so always go with what does it for you. You're young and what does it for you does change with time, but you will keep the experiences forever.
Thanks for the response man. So jealous you got to own those two Japenese beasts oh my god. Yeah, don't get me started on the RS5's maintenance, it's nuts that you have to dismember the entire front end and drop the engine just to get to the cats or the timing chain guides that have a tendency to break. Before trading it I looked into going catless and slapping the JHM tune on it. But the car was so fucking loud as it is & was already being pulled over for it that going catless just to squeeze some life out of the car wasn't worth it.@@olik9388
I understand your statement just dont like the words you used, you should care about what your viewers like😂
No. I make content based upon what I like. Naturally, there will be others that share the same interests as me.
I don't want people who don't share my interests to be "my viewers" & I won't pander to others for viewership.

Bro is trading RS5 for STI. How can anyone take what he says seriously 😆😆😆
When you're balls drop, you'll realise what mistake you maid the
Replacing an Audi with a Subaru🤡🤡🤡
Funny, because as a 43 year old who does daily his RS5, all the creature comforts and the luxury are just as important as the performance side of things.
Drive to work? Confort mode, easy, relaxing drive with a good B&O sound system, a well appointed cabin (even if the MMI is dated) the assurance of all-wheel-drive, and a super smooth powertrain.
Weekend blast? Dynamic/individual mode, windows down, sunroof open and just enjoy the experience.
It ticks every box for me. Thats why i bought it, obviously!
Hope you enjoy the Subaru though, wouldnt life be boring if everybody liked the exact same things?
43? I have children younger than that, now I am starting to think I may be old. Well said though, a great car and an end of an era car that is why I kept mine. It is also a bridge of a car connecting Europe to the US, a Euro Hot Rod with that cross-plane crank, high revving NA V8. No mods, looks new. I drove it about 700 miles all of last year. In the Cayman GTS I covered 1,174 miles in one day, yes I know I get cars all mixed up. What I drive the most is an R53 Mini.
you could have just said its too expensive to own...
You're talking about MPG... Guy. The STI is no better (maybe even worse). Trading an RS5 for an STI seems like a downgrade in almost every aspect, but I guess you have your reasons. I've owned a WRX, StI and 2 Evos. Now that I'm in my 30's I value comfort just as much as performance, and no one does that better than the Germans. Best of luck.
There is no sti even half the car that rs5 is
Sport Exhaust means Akrapovic exhaust. I daily my 2013 RS5 and it doesn't seem like you really understand the car. If you're an executive and you need to get from Wolfsburg to Ingolstadt quickly, you drive your RS5 170mph on the Autobahn to get there and you are happy that it "feels slow" and happy that you covered 300 miles in 90 minutes. The car isn't about making sense. It''s a halo car and it's about how it makes you feel. Mine makes me feel like I own the universe, when my V8 is screaming at 8000 rpm, I feel like I'm driving something special, excessive and grand.
Seriously though, my second car is 2009 Jetta 2.0T with APR Stage 2 (280hp/308ftlbs) and that might be more your speed. It's a cheap hooligan that begs for you to put your foot through the floorboard. It "feels fast" at 120mph and I can still get 28 miles per gallon if I drive like I'm old. Well I'm 42, but you should probably just sell it if you don't actually understand why it's special.
U should know the b8.5 rs5 is the last of the real RS devision cars before audi brought the rs brand inhouse. The b9s arent half the car the b8.5 is i have owned one for over a year and the worst part about this car is the fact i cant sell it and buy a different one unless its an even better na monster (and that shit gets very expensive haha)
Watching this in school rn🗣️🗣️💀🗿💯💯🥶👍
I have had a 2007 sti for the last few years what a car love the rumble. When it was time for something more comfortable it needed to be good looking, sporty, and with a good sound.. enter my 2014 RS5 it checked all the boxes and then some.. yeah I kept the STI too.. love it!
Selling that beautiful RS5 for the subi is such a hot take lol, I would never trade my RS5 for an STI but good for you I guess I can see where you're coming from
agreed b7 rs4 will never be sold
He ain't got no money bro
@@Ciprian-v2h lol maybe you're right and all the explanations of selling the RS5 for a subi is actually just cope
It doesn’t upshifts sometimes because of its tiptronic trans., if your shift wasn’t spot on, it won’t upshift or downshift, basically you shifted bad
I'm 24 and live in England with my 2012 RS5 and totally agree with all your points. Except the MPG, I know its not the car to hyper mile but it can do decent figures especially for the big V8 thats in it, motorways up to Scotland i've managed 34mpg and 400miles to a tank. I do however find me topping up from next to empty every week after 170 miles on my commutes.
Mine is also up for sale for the reasons you mentioned, it's fast and sounds amazing but I need something more fun and engaging and want out of it before I manage to get myself in big trouble with it. If it sells soon I'm aiming to get myself into a manual BMW M3/4 or if I'm able to manage 2 cars, I'll be looking at a DC5 Integra as well as something sensible.
PS think if your car has the sport exhaust fitted from factory it means its a partial titanium setup which explains why it's so loud. Apparantly quite rare and worth more than standard.
I have owned a 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2020 WRX STI, and traded the latter in on a 2015 RS5. As much as I loved by WRX STi’s the Audi is in a different league. And, my average fuel economy is better on the RS5 than the STI, which is crazy considering it’s got twice as many cylinders and 100hp more. The STI is tons of fun but its fuel consumption is dumbfounding for a 4 cyl.
Sold my RS5 whenever the maintenance bills started to pile up. Astronomically expensive as hell to maintain. Only had it for a year sadly. Beautiful car and that V8 soundtrack is hard to beat.
You can put back in drive mode from neutral while de car is rolling. When is stationary you cannot due to security reasons.
I’ve owned wrx STIs for a decade ( peep channel have a large following and view count ). And only just now in recent
Times all I can think about is the rs4 and rs5 Audi and that 4.2L v8.. its like an obsession I’m going the opposite way sti to hopefully a good example of the Audi.
That V8 sounds amazing, my love for cars is coming back for sure, getting a sim racing wheel soon. Can't wait to sim race in vr. Great video btw, I like the approach to this channel 😊
You are the furthest thing from the target demographic for this car. The fact you bought it in the first place is most shocking
And I'm reviewing it as the furthest thing from the target demographic.
Am I supposed to review this as if I was a twice divorced middle aged bald bloke?
@@GetHip2 not at all. just curious why you even bought it. when i was 20 i had a '15 wrx, that's what resonated at that age. not sayin everyone's the same but a german GT would be intimidating for lack of a better word. also if i was middle aged and bald my god i'd hope for something faster than this haha although the RS5 is a special car, it's got a niche following, don't think it has broad appeal or anyone with money is lusting after one
@@GetHip2you are really slow hey that is such a stupid stereotype the only bloke you are since the cars you buy are stereotypes when you gonna start vaping ?
What exhaust set up is on this? Just bought a non res Milltek hoping it would sound like this! Sounds 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have the same thing with my gearbox, it’s so annoying I end up red lining when I don’t want to! Yours sounds great tho, very good soundtrack
Idk why people can't understand what you mean, I had the same kind of issues with an Audi TTS mk3. Once you get over the initial excitement, it has nothing left to offer, no enduring excitement to it. Its just too good and makes everything too easy. Even if you take it to some backroads, the car basically drives itself, it pretty much won't let you fuck it up. Then there is the gearbox which has two settings - boring as fuck or rev the nuts off, theres no in between. So most of the time you just drive it in D and might as well have a base A3, it doesn't encourage fun. You have to decide when its time to have fun, rather than the car seemingly wanting to (or just naturally making journeys fun). You have to force it. And when you do, its like if you were to play a game and the game is just giving you the cheat codes. Its like sure you win, but you didn't really enjoy any challenge or feel any satisfaction. But like you I do understand that this is what some people want, and it seems that this is pretty much the same for all Audis including the R8. They are primarily daily drivers that can make some noise, and go fast in all weathers. I changed to a Ford Racing Puma after the TTS, and even though it has half the power, it's just way more fun.
I just bought my RS5 nearly 3 months ago and though i absolutely love it to pieces i completely understand your criticisms with the car im 23 and its my first real “sports” car even though i personally love the duality of the car of it being completely comfortable and easy to drive to just being an absolute menace to society reving up to 9k RPM when i was looking for the right car i did test drive a W204 C63 and though they are direct competitors the C63 made the RS5 feel like it had training wheels. The RS5 was so much more easy to drive in comparison that it almost seemed like the boring option (if you can even call a 450hp car “boring”) so i completely get why you would want something more raw but for me i feel like RS5 was the perfect choice you could even argue that it does everything so well and plus it being paired with the Quattro AWD that it being so perfect makes it “boring” but i wouldnt trade it for the world! Great video and i love all the things you had done to your car!!
"So perfect it's boring" is a great summary.
If I would have made a video about my rs5 it would have been this minus going to the gym and Im thinking about swapping for a forester STI 😅
at 14:35 that's weird, I don't know about the newer stuff but I have an (older) Audi A6 with a 6sp tiptronic and it lets me get into drive from neutral without brakes or even pressing the button on the stick. Only if I am stationary for too long will it require it. Like when I am parallel parking, I switch into R and then into N and D to correct and never need the brake or the button for that. Although sometimes I just ram straight from R to D when I am hastily parking but it feels wrong to do so, like it will break with the ratchet/drilling sound it makes at speed. Not that it has broken but I definetly think it might have a toll if I did it every time.
Trading the downshift sounds and that high revving RS5 for a STI which everyone has or has been thrashed. Downgrade.
While moving you can go to neutral and back to drive easily without hitting the brake.
WTF kid, my daily is an R53 Mini Cooper S, weekends, RS5 V8, 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman GTS, sweet corn getter from the farm, an R53 Mini Cooper S track setup. Old bitches rock dude. Long ago on the Continent had a Prodrive Impreza GT. Loved them all, no bitching about any of them. Enjoy the Scooby, they are great.
you need to tune her up to get the numbers up especially with the flywheel and headers
I own a b7 rs4 and 100000000% would never sell it she fockin rocks !!!!!
I can't understand the move to an sti to be fair but I'm older. I love my rs5 for the comfort it brings but it also have the power to be very quick. I also own an old MK3 supra so I have a raw car with no traction control or safety features.
Hi, What exhaust do you have? sounds really good 👏
Ain’t no way this is in Plymouth
It’s actually wild to see you driving through the town I live in xD
I'm 16 I have the same car and I love it
With all the bitching about this car, I definately am glad I got the B9 S5, because you get all the tech an the daily comfort with the same if not marginally better acceleration, and massively better MPG, and more scope to tune. Where this obviously smashes the B9 S5 out of the water is in the engine sound and rhe exhaust note, especially with the afermarker exhaust.
Bro became a simp 😂
I think he forgot the Audi ticks all boxes and will smoke any Subaru 😂😂😂 and can carry the family wiv him
I really don’t agree with your take. It’s a big heavy GT coupe, not a sports car. And any mag review could’ve told you it’s very refined and not about road feel or racy handling. It’s definitely just a fast DD. Sorry you couldn’t appreciate it for what it was! M3 is definitely the more handling-oriented option in that class.
My take is that it's a big heavy GT coupe & not really a sports car.
And you're saying my take is wrong because it's a big heavy GT coupe & not really a sports car.
What.
I don't knock the car for being what it is. I, on a personal level just am not interested in what it is.
It's a good car. I appreciate it for what it is. I just don't like that much.
I just shit on an STI last night in my s5 lmao pulled his shit box in comfort, I cant stand Subaru's never seen any fast ones or at least running.
Should've just bought a modified Audi B5
What side skirts, front lip and rear diffuser do you have ?
This is why we can't have nice things😂
This guy is lost LOL
Mmmmm each to their own I suppose, it’s laughable you think feeling fast is better than actually being fast ? But you’re probably right that it’s not a car for a 20 yr old anyway, for me it’s awesome, luxury, quality, one of the greatest V8’s ever made, 500hp with a Stage 2 tune and who cares about MPG. Oh yeh it looks about 100 times better than a WRX ha ha
where did you get yours mapped UK or USA?
I am the new owner for this car best car I ever owned , I would really like to remap the car but I don't know where and is it worth it ? (Uk)
MRC the only people to go for in the UK for Audi's. You'll get little BHP gains as it's an NA engine, but they do sort out the TCU while at it, better torque and the car won't feel so lazy on D and so angry on S. Getting my car back from them early next week.
Looking to buy one of these, is this worth it?
💯 I love mine 😊
Brazurk approved
subscribed because u told me not too
And Audi rs5 is still based on a a5 taking out all comforts would be so blast stupid and I feel like your complaints makes no sense to be honest I love a Subaru I don’t think it a down grade buy whatever makes you happy but your complaints make no sense my guy and btw you only have to put your foot on the break to put the car in drive at a standstill if your moving and it gets knocked into nutral you don’t need to put your foot on the break to knock it back in drive that’s how all automatic cars work with a break to put in drive system witch are almost all automatic cars have and non of them you need to put your foot to put back in drive while moving it’s only when standing still so that you don’t start the car in gear in knowingly and laugh forward because it’s auto not manual it can’t stall and some people are silly so it’s a safety system to make sure people put the car in drive while on the breaks and doing it internally and not starting the car then rolling into a wall or into a parked car like being parlel parked for eg
Wao insane power 😂😂😂😂
Being nitpicky about a car that's 10 years old seems a bit unfair. You should try out the latest RS5 which is pretty much better in every aspect.
I'm reviewing a 10 year old RS5. Not a new RS5. They are two different cars with two different engines. It's not unfair.
@@GetHip2well like you said your a vr RUclipsr not a car reviewer so you don’t really know what your on about
STI OVER V8 RS5...REALLY...LOL...WELL TO EACH HIS OWN
The car isn't boring you are lol
You had something very very special...and you traded it for a platform that hasnt been special for over a decade
Am the new owner of this car and I absolutely love it
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
LoL what a downgrade
nothing matches that V8 sound...
Jesus loves you ❤

Dude the sad faces for VR and this dumb car stuff plz go back to happy vr stuff
Is he even old enough to drive...? Sounds like he's about thirteen years old.....😂😂😂😂😂
No, I'm 14, I stole this car from my bald dad after he divorced his 4th wife. I immediately crashed into the nearest fiat 500 after recording this video.
