Stoechiometric for the stearman mean 16 parts oxgen, 1 part vitreous carbon, 20parts for cylinder cooling with evaporation cooling.. :-)

Hi James, there is something that I don’t fully understand. You said after refuelling that you had 100 HP in your Ercoupe. I thought it had a C85 engine. Did you changed it or overall it somehow? So possibly, you might have an ERCO 415-D that was modified to fit a 108 hp (81 kW) Lycoming O-235-C2C power plant?

Turbulence and following another aircraft - both of these can be stressful and exhausting. I did a cross country flight with another plane - once. And never again. Constantly watching for the other aircraft took all the fun out of the flight. Cool video!

Thanks! Turbulence, for sure. But I quite enjoy loose formation, it's actually quite comforting with someone you know and trust, especially over desolate terrain!

14:47 curious how smoother composite wing surface might improve speed.
Be helpful if radios had an indicator pointing towards the incoming transmission.
Nice ride over familiar ground.. Thanks.

ForeFlight is the directory I use. It's pretty good with comments from users at each airport. Web sites with that information get out of date pretty quick. Wish I could make maintaining information my full-time job, that'd be good!

Back in the day, ADF (Automatic Direction Finder) on the panel pointed to the relative direction of the source, which could even be the local AM radio station.
Few planes have them now as GPS is cheap and easy. ADF equipment has mostly been removed from the cockpit to shed the pounds.
The whole system is pretty much obsolete.
Re: wing covering. There is no approved modification to install composite wing covering.
It might give you a few more miles per hour but probably would come with a weight penalty versus fabric wings. And for many of us, would be cost prohibitive for the little benefit.
Some Coupes do have metal covered wings. They add 30-40 pounds to the empty weight and bring little to no bump in speed.

Pretty country. So much out there that only those of us that fly low and slow ever see. I enjoy flying with another plane or two.
It takes a bit more attention but with todays tech it is easier than before. Depending on the eqpt the planes have.
