Thank you for the lesson on the brick ruler, I've been wanting to learn more on interchanging numers or letters to hit a height, just like you explained. Does helps out lot to understand the ruler.

      My pleasure.
You should consult your local building inspector. In general, I think the footing needs to be 12” thick ,and 6” wider than the brickwork on all sides, and below the frost-line for your area.

Thanks for sharing bud...I'm laying queen brick right now and they measure out at like 3 1/4. I've had a hell of a time trying to mark them out with my ruler. It's been very confusing. As you said, most of the time I'm landing on a 4,5,6 but these queens are different. They're fatter. The top of my block retaining wall hits perfectly on a 6...BUT...When I marked the queens out on a six I was getting paper thin joints. Obviously it was a concern once I got above grade work where the brick would be seen and had to change it up. I'm not quite sure what I did wrong. Like I said, this is the first time I've run into this. Anyway, thanks for the video.

Buy an oversized Rino ruler, instead of numbers the heights will be letters. This will work with brick up to 3 1/2” thick. Sometimes you have to use a combination of different letters or numbers to hit your final height.

Awesome! I'm glad it was helpful. Sorry my camera woman is a bit inexperienced, she really wanted to be part of the video. Not bad for eight years old though.

I’m not very good at video editing yet 😕. Honestly, it’s just mentally draining and time consuming.

I was looking at the brickwork on the front of my house today and crying. It is so poorly done.

You are definitely not alone. Most of these animals have no idea how to hit heights. Put cuts under every window wherever it lands. 🤦‍♂️

@chadvaillancourt it's amazing that they don't have brick spacing rulers in the uk or Australia I've asked a couple of them on RUclips why they don't use them they said our rulers don't work with the size of their bricks wich I find hard to believe since we have 3 different size rulers and pretty much every video in Australia they end up with a cut under the row lock sills
