Man this is a very interesting channel
Have to do something to stand out, right?
@@AllThingsOnePlace And stand out you do. This is one of the most useful channels I follow.
Would be interesting to see a "review" of your test equipment as well.
Nice to see 230V testing as well.
Yeah, I thought about it and should do that. I've wanted to do a video on the test setup as well.
Excellent round up of these Amazon Basics adapters, you always do an amazing job with your reviews. It is good that Amazon Basics cost less for what you get. And if the 100W adapter is just as good as the Anker, why not get the Amazon Basics instead? Seems like a no brainer decision to me! Now, thats not to say that there arn't better adapters out there. For example, I think Bassious is still holding the king spot, mainly because it does have active PFC for the 5V signal, and it provides that 100+ watts with great gusto and great efficiency, and thats what you want IMO. Just don't do what Marty Mcfly did with his AMP power supply, you remember what happened to the speakers right? Its going to be a long time before you ever utilize the full 500 watts from that new power supply unit. Right now I think largest USB power adapters is around what 250-watts?
Yep, I have a 240W unit here, haven't plugged it in yet. Classic scene, giant loudspeaker POP!
Could you link the charger you are talking about?
@@optimusim5086 The 240w one? It is a Wotobeus 240W adapter, I haven't done any review or anything on it yet though. It is still in the box.
Thanks for testing 230v too 👍
No problem.
Brother. So can i charge my iphone with amazon basics adapter will it affect battery health
Sure you can charge it. It should be fine on a modern device for battery health.
Could you do a video about the theory? Like why some of them need to renegotiate all ports every time you plug a device?
Yeah, I need to get more into the details, the USB PD specification alone is really dry and over 1000 pages. But basically lots of handshaking and then constant handshaking or the power gets turned off. They pass quite a lot of data back and forth.
So you can test EU devices now right? Can't wait for the Baseus 100w eu desk charger, and especially the version with the extra CEE 7 socket on top! Thank you for your awesome channel!
Oh, yeah that's not bad. I need to start buying stuff on aliexpress I guess, haha.
@@AllThingsOnePlace that would be awesome!
Good work as always 👍
Does it support pps technology 🙂
I say it a couple times in the video, I know it's still too fast. No PPS on any of these.
I sent Amazon a email recommending adding pps to their chargers seeing as pps is a free charging protocol.
Seems like a good adapter for not a lot of money. A pity for the APFC poor performance on 230V. But I still don't get why manufacturer are still so hellbent on not providing USB C 5V only ports. If people say that the device is not charging rapdly even if they're using the USB C Amazon (or any other maker for that matter) could very well tell them to RTFM.
Liked the in depth review as usual!
Yeah, I like that this Amazon 100W adapter at least labels the ports.
thank you for these vids and especially the 230V inclusion, subbed! awesome channel!
Thanks for watching!
@@AllThingsOnePlacesry for typing so many comments
this channel has all the answers to my questions!
Great video, you are really upping your game 🎉
Thanks.
This where I get my adapter fix!! “And like a fiend for the weed I'll…”
Nice!
Is there a way to see the pdf of power bricks? The website only shows cables and car adaptors as options in the menu, and I couldn't guess the url for power bricks based on those 2, although that might be a squarespace thing with their disappearing and unclickable buttons on mobile
There's a separate website, it's a work in progress. Yeah, squarespace is not amazing and I need to spend several days updating that site.
I really appreciate your technical explanation. But sometimes I got confused about which adapters are you talking about :(
You and me both! I like making one or two adapter videos but they are too short of videos and I try to keep the waffle to a minimum. I've tried a few ways of doing the videos in different ways. Like segmenting each adapter and data or like this video flop all over the place.
@@AllThingsOnePlace That is understandable. I appreciate you for taking the feedback positively.
Great stuff! Keep ‘em coming!
okay.
I hope this channel blows up like dank pods
Yeah, when you look at the stats it is like it is on rails. Slowly grows.
You forgot the 20w version!;)
I did! Nice find.
This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location
California?
@@AllThingsOnePlace Yes
hi, is this model can buy from aliexpress?
not sure.
For me this guy has so many fancy equipment that my brain doesn't understand, I'll just trust what he tells
haha, yeah, the hoard of electronics stuff, too much.
The new brand like rocoren is better 😊
It appears that way. Time will tell.
Are these power adapters, e.g. 65W AmazonBasic one, safe enough for continuous operation setup? I have a stand with a hub integrated, and I am using a Ipad Mini 6. I want this setup as desktop replacement while connected with the standard stuff (24''display, mouse and keyboard).
If I leave it plugged in while using the the Mini for lets say half a day, will the power adapter last? I have my concerns because they are so small. Any alternatives in the style of notebook power adapter, albeit bulky yet made for continuous operation?
Yeah, I think your estimate is correct if pushing the watt level. These small adapters aren’t great for continuous operation. If it is over rated a decent amount then it is fine. Say the whole setup uses 45 watts continuously a 100 watt adapter is probably good. A larger laptop adapter is probably still better.
Which power adapter do I want to get?
That is an excellent question, my obvious answer is all of them.
Can you review the Blitzwolf BW-S23 100 W GaN charger?
Yeah, that might be a good one to check out. I actually looked at a 65W Blitzwolf at the end of a video as a 'bonus feature' no one watched it and I don't remember what video it was part of anymore but it was actually okay.
I don’t understand much, however I’m informed. 😂. Great video.
Thanks for watching. Yeah, it's kind of a lot for a little video, ha.
None of these can be purchased in California.
That is very unusual. I understand it with light bulbs (the CEC rules are different) for the power adapters the CEC rules are actually DOE IV which are way more lenient so if you meet DOE VI, I wonder if they just didn't bother filing the paperwork.
Made weirder by the fact that Spigen ones can be purchased in CA and they use the same OEM
This one looks exactly the same as the Alogic / Primecables one, guess they are from the same manufacturer.
That does happen, Amazon does purchase from an OEM.
what do you think about buying these wall adapters like the baseus and getting a short 1.5ft extension cable, instead of just getting the baseus desktop adapter version so removing the cable is an option? do the extension cable qualities vary a lot too in safety and efficiency?
Using a short extension cord is fine, the current on the AC side is much lower so something like a power adapter plugged in on that side will not significantly effect efficiency and performance unless the cord is really bad (not copper, obviously not thick enough), there are some fakes out there but in general any cord with a safety rating on the wire should be fine. Any electrician would probably err on the side of caution and say never ever ever because everything is unsafe in some situation. Impossibility of control of variables
The reality of it is these actually can be more safe not dangling off the wall and potentially exposing the mains electrical pins as they sit half in the wall half out. I use a short extension cord for mine because it doesn't stay in the wall socket. Your mileage may vary and obviously always at your own risk. Anything the manufacturer says not to do...they basically all say they aren't liable for anything that happens.
Energizer wall charger 65watts & 38 watts your advice
hmm, not sure. I haven't looked at those devices yet. I added them to the list though! It's a really long list.
Thank you very much for adding the 220v 60hz results much respect
Yeah, slowly adding them in.
Does this support oneplus warp/supervooc charging in oneplus phones?
No.
At 7:54 you mentioned the power factor correction requiring an extra watt. I found that interesting. Consumers only pay for real power, not apparent power, right? Would that extra watt be a net loss for the consumer then? I assume that given two adapters with identical efficiencies but different power factors, the one with a higher power factor wins, but where would you draw the line if one has better efficiency, but the other has better power factor?
Yeah, the extra watt is an estimate, as adapters get larger the power factor circuit generally uses a little more. There is a line where it really makes up for the power consumed though. Based on some rough estimates and using a boost topology it is a loss at 10 watts, about even at 50 watts, and then a reasonable gain at and above 100 watts.
Wow, that was fast!
Yep, I have bad practices for production of content, generally these are completed day of upload.
hope to see a review of Vention gan chargers
They're on the list.
@AllThingsOnePlace the brand so far seemed mysterious, it seemed their charges are on par with Anker, Ugreen, Baseus etc. the specs are also quite unique ie the 140w Gan type.
Nice vid mate
Thank you for watching.
Can you test the eho pd 3.0 pps 4 port charger? Just picked one up and I'm curious if its any good.
I have that one here but haven't tested it yet. I will have to check it out sooner rather than later.
@@AllThingsOnePlace thank you!
Thank you for testing new adapters. Could you also test Mcdodo GaN adapters(65w & 100w) ?
I have the 65W somewhere here. I don't have the 100W, actually I haven't seen it anywhere and I am avoiding AliExpress for a little while longer. Budget restrictions. It will make it eventually.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I was looking the 65w(CH-8441 US/UK/EU all in one),since it won Reddot design award considering it's size and portability.Yeah,it's scarce to find here too.100w is typical 3-port and also has some YT unboxing unlike 65w. You have tested a lot, yeah the budget is imp factor.Thank you,i will wait eventually until you make it.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Would be interested to know how the McDoDo 65W fares in the rigorous testing that you do
Thank you for your efforts
So many adapters so little time.
Man very nice. Also fun getting a new piece of kit.
Yeah, I really like the purpose built equipment, that power supply only does what it says. I'm also glad I got the 3 foot deep custom countertops made. Fits this large (and heavy) lab gear no problem with room to work.
Man you have the most detailed reviews out there, thanks a lot. Could you have a look at Pepper Jobs Gan-PD 165W chargers (found them on Amazon), it seems this is the only one with type-c only design (really find usb-a ports unnecessary) and 30w+ on all ports when all are in use.
These brand names are getting interesting... but yeah that actually looks like a good one to check out. Thank you for the suggestion.
