@@SouthernReelsFishing Thanks Jessie! I'm planning a trip down towards the end of April. Will definitely reach out. Hoping to catch that nice red fish bite again :)
Well it looks like you got the hang of it. Those are good eating. One thing about salt water, it will eat up the the pins that hook up to the display from the transducer. That is a really nice unit.
Its a blast, and really helped me figure out what they wanted to bite this day. At first they were just looking at the jig and swimming away until I found the right color. I wouldn't have known this otherwise
Man that was a awesome video glade see you crappie fishing I went yesterday and water was 38 brrrrr only caught one nice one but that fish finder was crazy cool see fish on it like that awesome job man
When you get it dialed in, would love to see you do a video of it including update on your full setup of the 2019 Outback. Can’t wait....hurry:) So glad to find your channel B4 I buy my new one soon.
Very cool. I have the older generation Panoptix. From a kayak perspective- I have heard the setup requires a lot of amperage. Do you happen to know how much amperage the box and the ducer adds on top of the head unit?
Panoptix is one of the big reasons why I switched to a Hobie Compass duo. I was planning on getting the Outback. Using the front mirage location for the ducer.
IT says a max of 54 watts for the Livescope, which converts out to about 4.5 amps. Now that is just a max number, don't know what the average draw is. Head unit draws roughly 2 amps so I'd saw 6 at the most total. I have 4 Nocqua 10 ah batteries currently wired up, which gives me 40 amp hrs. So at max draw it should last just short of 7 hrs. But I do have the Livescope wired on a switch so I can turn it off when I'm not using it to save battery. I have gone 12 hrs on the water with the setup I have so far. Intermittent use of the Livescope
Yes it is, but thankfully the Nocqua's only weigh 1.5 pounds each, so the 40 amp hr set only weighs roughly 6 lbs. Definitely the best setup for a kayak...
Pretty cool technology. At some point we will reach a level that it takes enough of the challenge of fishing away that I likely would not enjoy it. Great for when I am just fishing for food, which is maybe 25% of the time, but when I am just out for sport this might be a bit much. We will see.
PA 12 is heavier but has more stability and room. The Outback it light but a little cramped for larger people. No perfect solution really depends on you
I remember you saying in a vid that you weren't a good crappie fisherman. I guess the panoptics made all the difference. You could have got paid for this vid.ill be really impressed if flounder show up on that unit though. Nice job
When im crappie fishing i am vertical jigging (tightlining) 95% of the time so i like using my traditional sonar to stay on top of the school or brushpile. I am jealous of you tho.
I tried trolling and had no luck, tried float setups and no luck. Also tried jiggin and still no luck...lol I had to cheat to be able to catch them sadly
Sure man any time, this trip was kinda last minute, Gonna try to fish somewhere this weekend if work goes well this week. May just be some local freshwater fishing again
It is Mega, I forgot to mention that I have the Ultra HD upgrade installed as well. Which includes a different transducer and a separate black box that upgrades to unit to megahertz.
Great video, great quality as well fishing for crappie out of a kayak is lots of fun. With that being said i would like to invite you to our Facebook group dedicated to fishing for crappie and other panfish from a kayak. Its called Slab Yakn Fishing Association please check us out. We are trying to start a new tournament trail for the panfish angler out of kayaks and other small water vessels.
I was thinking it the entire video then you said it at the end: catching flounder will be awesome to watch on that sonar!
Will find out this summer!
Crappie catching craziness! Now just think about the bull sharks and gators that will be seen on that. Oh the fun to be had!
I'm definitely excited to see what it can do!
Will you put a video together of how you set this up in your kayak
Yes I will
Jessie, great video! Looking forward to seeing more videos with this new tech. So cool! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment my friend!
Hit me up if you are ever out this way again

Very true, I use dielectric grease on all the fittings and connections. That should at least slow it down
@@SouthernReelsFishing good solution
Looks great! That would be allot of fun alright.
Its a blast, and really helped me figure out what they wanted to bite this day. At first they were just looking at the jig and swimming away until I found the right color. I wouldn't have known this otherwise
hey man where are you located at in NC. I mean ball park .
I'm in the Camden County area
Thats sweet! That’s going to be the ticket salt water fishing around bridge pilings.
My thoughts exactly! Look out Sheepy's!
It’ll be awesome finding bull reds in the bay late summer early fall! Now if I can find a way to write it off as a tool my business needs 😎
Awesome video I have that same graph I use for ice fishing and I was thinking about a pdl drive kayak and you look like your loving it
I do indeed
@@SouthernReelsFishing question do you think a Norsk 15ah would keep me on the water for a bit
That just crazy to see them hit it, I got to get one now.
Yeah I saw a video on youtube of it and had to have it...
Man that was a awesome video glade see you crappie fishing I went yesterday and water was 38 brrrrr only caught one nice one but that fish finder was crazy cool see fish on it like that awesome job man
Thanks man it really amazed me how well it works. Gonna try for big catfish next, saw a lot of them out there as well
Thanks for another great video! Would be cool to see a video on how you have everything setup. Cheers!
Will do once I get the bugs worked out of it.
Thanks for the video would love to see set up details, new to the electronics scene but would like to set up on the old town pdl yak
Video dropping tonight
@@SouthernReelsFishing Awesome! and thanks again for your time, effort, and sharing your info
Glad to help thanks for watching!
That is ridiculously cool!
Bel video complimenti !

I am planning on doing that for sure
excellent! you're gonna owe me $2300 for convincing me to get the Garmin Livescope :) thanks for your awesome videos. Tim
Lol I have heard that a few times lately! Thanks for watching!
Thats insane, i want one
I agree!
I love my live scope transducer as well
Sweet man!
That's Awesome ...I need one for my boat .
Can you do an overview of the Garmin Livescope install and setup please?
Dropping that video tonight
Livescope is amazing and it will be even better once you rig it were you can rotate the transducer. 360 degrees.
Working on a design now... probably gonna involve duct tape and pvc pipe lol
Great video,,, More videos on the livescope please
I will for sure!

You have to do an overview video on that thing! That’s insane.
I will once I get it completely dialed
Now make another trip down to Oriental and find those BIG TROUT! thats awesome!
I want to try that, not sure how well it will work in shallow water. Gonna have to test it out
@@SouthernReelsFishing and man, in the summer with the old drum, that would be awesome to see those monsters on the screen!
Yes true! Definitely gonna be an interesting season this year...
I wish I didn’t watch this video. That is freaking awesome! Now I need one.
That's the same thing I said when I realized what it actually did
Southern Reels Fishing I may have to sell my atv to fund it lol
Thats sweet. What's goin to be the advantage flounder fishing tho as they are laying on the bottom?
True, but being able to see when one is following the jig would be a big help. Sometimes they will follow it for a bit before hitting it
Need to get one of theses
We all do lol!
That was by far the most incredible system I have ever seen! What does Garmin call that machine?
What battery do you use for livescope/fish finder on kayak and how long does it usually last?
4 Nocqua 10 amp hr batteries wired to work together. It last all day
Did you pay 1,500 just for the sonar or did you buy the screen with the set too?
1500 for the Livescope, and the cheapest Chartplotter that works with it is the Echomap 74 SV Plus. Which is what I have. Got it all from Amazon
@@SouthernReelsFishing got it!

That is a good point and I considered that. But at this point I'm gonna enjoy it lol
Can’t wait to put my new Garmin 73cv on my new topwater 120
Cool man! Hope you like it
Hey Jesse I can’t decide on either the new outback or a pa12. Any advice
PA 12 is heavier but has more stability and room. The Outback it light but a little cramped for larger people. No perfect solution really depends on you

Thanks again!
No problem. Thanks to you too
Just wow.....that's cool...
My thoughts exactly
Let me know this year if you want to get together for a trip
Awesome!
Can you tell me a ballpark$ for everything needed for your livescope setup? Monitor incuded. Thank you
Round 2000 currently
@@SouthernReelsFishing thank you, not as much as expected. It is awesome! Thanks for the reply.
What size was the screen
7 inch
What was your fishing rod setup?
It's a 1000 series Penn Battle 2 with a Diawa lightweight rod I think
Id like to see how it does in grass and timber
Does great in timber I know, it was picking the fish out in a brushpile
What size unit is that?
7 inch
What battery do you use?
3 Nocqua 10 amp hour batteries wired together
Lemme tag along

I didn't know you crappie fished. Carpe Diem.
Only in the winter, it's all I have this time of year
Why can I ONLY find crappie fishing videos with the fucking livescope??? Is it not good for ANY other species or what?
I have several Striper and Sheepshead videos on my channel using it. Also Trout and Reds
Rich man's toy wish I have ur money
Not rich, but I do put in 12 to 14 hour days every day starting at 5 am...
More like a working mans toy. Its $2300 for a quality fish finder not that expensive honestly.
Crappie=Junkfish
Yeah I'm not a big freshwater fan myself... It's all I have this time if year though
