I don't know if our F-16AM have the same kit that the AM in Benelux tree have(extra CM and MAWs) but atleast it will get HMD. Why pick OCU block 15 when there is better variant? Pretty sure that our MLU block 20 doesn't have any game breaking kit that prevent them from choosing it.
also OCU doesnt even have the Radar to actually use aim 120 irl. so they shouldnt even work on it to begin with. without them it could be comfortable at 13.0 if its gets its missing Flare/chaff dispensers.
Personally, i think that gaijin should fix their fuckup and replace the OCU with the MLU. Of course they wont and they will just make it wildly unrealistic just to make it competent. Or they will pull a classic and add it next update making the grind for the thai gripen even longer
Anything would've been better than this... - Fixed Thai OCU would have no AMRAAM (lower BR), AGM-65G-2 and 120 countermeasures - Thai ADF could've been added alongside it as air to air F-16 (like the US F-16A folder) with AMRAAM and 120 countermeasures as well - eMLU upgrade could've combined both by essentially being the OCU but with thermal pod, HMD, APG-68(V)9 radar and AMRAAM I have no idea how they chose such a bad option when literally everything else could've been amazing
@@mike7074 i grinded the Rafale with the f16am and I don't think it needs HMD for radar it's a very good plane you need to switch between tower ACM and regular ACM and you can do almost anything you can do with HMD you just need to be good at switching the ACM
Lost what should have been an easy dogfight with the CS4 Mirage to a Su-33 cause one of his radar missiles (probably an R-27) just so happens to proxy on me leaving me unable to aim properly (skill issue definitely involved, but wouldn't have been a problem if it didn't damage me). The gambling mostly happens when you're flying straight from my experience but I don't know anymore.
It definitely won't be way-too-late, especially considering the fact that AESA radars aren't even modelled properly yet, so it's not like it being in the game now instead of later(when more nations will get jets with AESA radars) takes away it's moment to shine

Gaijin purposefully not adding in AMRAAMs to the Italian export versions is criminal considering they actually did have amraams on the Upgraded conversions and B models. then the nerve to place it at 12.7 where it can be uptiered to AMRAAM IRCCM territory with aim 7Ms and 9L's only for the ADV is hogwash, honestly. The fact that a Tornado ADV/IDS (1995) alongside, can potentially face AMRAAM-A's, the variants.. etc is insane. The only solace is that I have the F2000A now.
Gaijin has mixed many things into this F-16, as far as I know, actual Block 15 OCU (Lighting 103rd Squadron) of RTAF haven't been upgraded at all. Which by Gaijin adding AIM-120A is just "Balancing". Only the Viper 403rd Squadron, the Block 15 OCU is upgraded to eMLU standard, technically European MLU but better radar.
It'd be cool to have the F-2, at least it would be unique in its loadout with different A2A Missiles. Visually its a big bigger with a different wing and elevator shape. Surely has to be in the pipeline for Japan at some point.
Although it has 2 more missiles because of the wings and an AESA radar. Wich wouldn't be hard to model but honestly I suspect that we get a F2 until the September patch if not sooner

The F-16 OCU might as well be a high tier premium plane. It has the same amount of flares & chaff as the F4s Phantom. F-16 OCU not a bad plane as well not a great plane. Same goes for the F4s Phantom.
2:25 it seems that since the multipath changes, dropping missiles from top down is more consistent with killing multipathers, not because of splash damage but because they come top down, so even with multipathing, the missile will still hit or proxy directly on you rather than hitting the ground anyways. solution: you have to stay below the launched missile and get into a notch relative to the missile radar, then you can defeat the missile without the usage of chaff. (it is still hard to make this work to be clear, the low countermeasure count sucks)

The Belgian F-16A is worse. With the Thai MLU, you can do all chaff and launch all of your AMRAAMS at the start of the game. The Belgian F-16A gets uptiered to 13.7 or 14.0 pretty much every game and you only have AIM-9M's. It's basically a JAS-39A with no HMD, a worse flight model, and you can't take BOL pods on sidewinder pylons. Before the last update, it was 13.3 despite only having AIM-9M's.
What? The Belgian F-16A is literally the best F-16A in the game . The problem it has it’s its constant uptiers, not the plane itself. I used to be able to get pretty consistent down tiers to fight F-4Ss and stuff with it (which it absolutely seal clubs), so it’s problem is BR compression in general.

You may ask, what is this battle rating. 11.3. More than 2 BR's lower than this. Its just sad. It also gets the SAME amount of countermeasures.
Kinda, depends on how nice gaijin is. The F-2 doesnt have HMD and is heavier than a normal F-16 but it will turn a bit better with the larger airframe. Its real strong point is the AESA radar and who knows how gaijin will model that given the current AESA radars. Also it will probably be limited to 4 IR and 4 Radar missiles unless gaijin counts the 1 time in 1997 it was shown off with 6 Radar missiles.
@ it’s main focus is anti naval warfare not air superiority like the F-15J that does have HMD. I’ve never seen a picture of an F-2 nor heard of an upgrade that gave it said capability. I’d love to be wrong in this but i’m pretty positive it does not have one because it’s main role being anti ship does not necessitate the use of HMD
They need to bring back 100m multipathing and re-buff notching/multipathing. The emphasis on buffing radar missiles sets a bad precedent for future changes. Eventually AESA radars and AESA missiles, which are mostly immune to but the most perfect notching will be added (Gaijin WILL have to make AESA weaponry better somehow) and going cold will be your only option pretty much. It's like the jet version of naval top tier (without AI targets) where no ships want to shoot at each other and just hide behind cover all day. In this case it will be running back to the airfield. This won't be a issue if there's no module grind and that the game is balanced with no uptiering, but it is not, and it will make the jet grind so much worse than it is right now.
Brother got spooked so hard he switched to sim controls after the missile was trashed. Anyway thanks for the advice since I have access to the Thailand tree and will be grinding it out soon. This F16 looks like its one of the 13.7s that will get slammed by the Su-33 so im just not gonna grind it and stick to the F-5T SCU. It baffles me how this thing comes at 13.7 also since the MiG-29SMT is at 13.3 and while having a horrible FM, at least gets HMD and a lot of countermeasures to go with its R-77s.
I believe the F16A in the French tech tree is a good contender as one of the « worst » f16. While it does have more countermeasures and HMD for its missiles, it’s quite is quite lacking. Unlike most (all?) other 13.0 jets, it completely lacks any form of radar missiles. Which was doable before the ARH arrived and IR missiles were the META, but is incredibly underpowered when most games are 13.7-14.0 and ARH are flying all around. The AIM9Ms are good, but not good enough to warrant this plane fighting top tier most of the time
The OCU wasn't even capable of using AMRAAM. The only Thai F-16s that had AIM-120 compatible radars are the ADF and (e)MLU. Gaijin botched this one *horribly.* The Thai subtree should've gotten the OCU at 13.0, the ADF (with AMRAAM) at 13.3, and the (e)MLU at 13.7.
4:12 currently in WT, almost every single game is a full 1.0 uptier. Well 13.7 to 14.0 is .3 but thats just going to happen. For whatever reason on God's green earth, Gaijin flat out refuses to increase brs and tiers. Yes they just added 14.0 but it's clearly NOT helping.
I think it would be fine if it had chaff bods on the inner pylons, and i saw someone get bugged loadout text with the pods. So hoping that is just a bug and we can get more CM, then it would be alright, kinda like a middle point between the f16aj and the much better F-2. Speaking of, the F-2 has no HMD historically, right? SO with it not having the best radar anymore do you think it will be DOA? I feel like the aam-3 aam-4 combo will be nice but maybe not enough.
About the Block 50 having worse maneuverability than Block 15... The best F-16 in that department was/is Block 30. It can still go against anything... F-16s after Block 30 went progressively fatter, because they needed to be able to carry more/heavier weapon systems. They were not the light fighter F-16A was. But..they they don't need to ... Radars/electronics/defence suits make the game after the 2ks. Now about the plane...they could have used Block 20... But they will need something more to bring in next patches and I think...Japan tree with new sub tree/nation included or even possible to be included is reaching its limit. So it is expected to prolong things to have something to give them the next patches.

What's historically inaccurate is the F-16A OCU having AMRAAM. It didn't have a compatible radar. It should lose the AMRAAMs and get moved down to 13.0. For AMRAAM-slingers the F-16A ADF and F-16A (e)MLU could be added. The latter being about the same as an F-16C, and the former being air-to-air only.

The F5T is the best F5 in the game, the Alpha Jet TH is a nice subsonic strike, the Gripen is obv good, the F16 just needs its bugged chaff pods, and the Harrier isnt bad at all.
What a weird frankenstein of a F-16 they added, should've just skipped to the MLU version because this OCU doesn't even have the necessary equipment to be firing those AMRAAMs. How is this thing sitting at the same BR as the F-16C and other 13.7 F-16s while it has 50% or even more less CMs, no HMD, worse radar, and way worse ground ordinance.
Kinda feel the same in JF17 now, less countermeasures, less engine power and no HMD. I know JF17 has lower br but 13.3 nowadays really get into uptier, 3/10 in 14.0 and 6/10 in 13.7
try flying the british gripen now at top tier, its horrible, you get shat on by F-15Es in space while you have no chance of getting kills further than 10km because of the R-farters being the worst fox 3 in the game (excl. aim54). Couple that with the cloudy maps, broken multipathing, and the previous fm nerfs, its a pain to fly

The payloads of the f16s never made sense to me why only 6 air to air missiles, I did some research and it mentioned something about weight capacity for the pylons or something even though it can clearly carry 4 AAMs on the outside pylons then 3 maveriks on each inner pylon then bombs on another and still somehow support the weight

Multipath was better when you had more altitude to work with (100m). A lot of the maps have trees and even 2 story buildings that are 50-60ft tall. Where in the world do 120ft palm trees grow?.

Sure it does not get 14.0 jets in it's lobbys, but 13.7 is Right at its door the Dam flair / chaff dispenser is placed soo poorly in game, that not only does it take a ton of chaff to dodge a single missile, but also chaff just randomly does not work The F14's get The absolutely Worst Ammrams in the entire game yet their forced to fight other ammrams, and its self for higher alt targets, any targets below 5k alt is absolutely going to dodge the missile just by looking in its direction and the Fucking hud is Worthless, 9km range is sooo Ass That the single missile that can be used at that range, absolutely work's Far better with just its own IR Seaker head, without the Radar assistance
at least it doesn't get the italian adf treatment where it had 9l-i and amraams irl but gaijin refuses to give any of em for some freaking reason, or the mlu for taiwain too, after all the adf and mlu programs were made SPECIFICALLY to make the f-16 compatible with freaking amraams

It'd be cool to have the F-2, at least it would be unique in its loadout with different A2A Missiles. Visually its a big bigger with a different wing and elevator shape. Surely has to be in the pipeline for Japan at some point.
Although it has 2 more missiles because of the wings and an AESA radar. Wich wouldn't be hard to model but honestly I suspect that we get a F2 until the September patch if not sooner

The F-16 OCU might as well be a high tier premium plane. It has the same amount of flares & chaff as the F4s Phantom.

2:25 it seems that since the multipath changes, dropping missiles from top down is more consistent with killing multipathers, not because of splash damage but because they come top down, so even with multipathing, the missile will still hit or proxy directly on you rather than hitting the ground anyways.
solution: you have to stay below the launched missile and get into a notch relative to the missile radar, then you can defeat the missile without the usage of chaff. (it is still hard to make this work to be clear, the low countermeasure count sucks)
I checked the replay, this wasn't top down and it did hit the ground 💀. It just splash damaged me

probably better to try to go into a notch even at low altitude, but I recognize this is oftentimes not feasible if you're at multipath height in the first place

The Belgian F-16A is worse. With the Thai MLU, you can do all chaff and launch all of your AMRAAMS at the start of the game. The Belgian F-16A gets uptiered to 13.7 or 14.0 pretty much every game and you only have AIM-9M's. It's basically a JAS-39A with no HMD, a worse flight model, and you can't take BOL pods on sidewinder pylons. Before the last update, it was 13.3 despite only having AIM-9M's.
What? The Belgian F-16A is literally the best F-16A in the game . The problem it has it’s its constant uptiers, not the plane itself. I used to be able to get pretty consistent down tiers to fight F-4Ss and stuff with it (which it absolutely seal clubs), so it’s problem is BR compression in general.

You may ask, what is this battle rating. 11.3. More than 2 BR's lower than this. Its just sad. It also gets the SAME amount of countermeasures.

Kinda, depends on how nice gaijin is. The F-2 doesnt have HMD and is heavier than a normal F-16 but it will turn a bit better with the larger airframe. Its real strong point is the AESA radar and who knows how gaijin will model that given the current AESA radars. Also it will probably be limited to 4 IR and 4 Radar missiles unless gaijin counts the 1 time in 1997 it was shown off with 6 Radar missiles.
With no HMD? Unlikely.
@ it’s main focus is anti naval warfare not air superiority like the F-15J that does have HMD. I’ve never seen a picture of an F-2 nor heard of an upgrade that gave it said capability. I’d love to be wrong in this but i’m pretty positive it does not have one because it’s main role being anti ship does not necessitate the use of HMD

They need to bring back 100m multipathing and re-buff notching/multipathing.
The emphasis on buffing radar missiles sets a bad precedent for future changes. Eventually AESA radars and AESA missiles, which are mostly immune to but the most perfect notching will be added (Gaijin WILL have to make AESA weaponry better somehow) and going cold will be your only option pretty much.
It's like the jet version of naval top tier (without AI targets) where no ships want to shoot at each other and just hide behind cover all day. In this case it will be running back to the airfield.
This won't be a issue if there's no module grind and that the game is balanced with no uptiering, but it is not, and it will make the jet grind so much worse than it is right now.

Brother got spooked so hard he switched to sim controls after the missile was trashed. Anyway thanks for the advice since I have access to the Thailand tree and will be grinding it out soon. This F16 looks like its one of the 13.7s that will get slammed by the Su-33 so im just not gonna grind it and stick to the F-5T SCU. It baffles me how this thing comes at 13.7 also since the MiG-29SMT is at 13.3 and while having a horrible FM, at least gets HMD and a lot of countermeasures to go with its R-77s.

I believe the F16A in the French tech tree is a good contender as one of the « worst » f16. While it does have more countermeasures and HMD for its missiles, it’s quite is quite lacking. Unlike most (all?) other 13.0 jets, it completely lacks any form of radar missiles. Which was doable before the ARH arrived and IR missiles were the META, but is incredibly underpowered when most games are 13.7-14.0 and ARH are flying all around.
The AIM9Ms are good, but not good enough to warrant this plane fighting top tier most of the time
The 13.0 f16a absolutely slaps with a stalker no radar play style you can easily get 3 kd with the aim 9m it's a lot of fun
The OCU wasn't even capable of using AMRAAM. The only Thai F-16s that had AIM-120 compatible radars are the ADF and (e)MLU. Gaijin botched this one *horribly.* The Thai subtree should've gotten the OCU at 13.0, the ADF (with AMRAAM) at 13.3, and the (e)MLU at 13.7.
And somehow it’s not the most gimped f16. Justice for the block 20
4:12 currently in WT, almost every single game is a full 1.0 uptier. Well 13.7 to 14.0 is .3 but thats just going to happen. For whatever reason on God's green earth, Gaijin flat out refuses to increase brs and tiers. Yes they just added 14.0 but it's clearly NOT helping.
I think it would be fine if it had chaff bods on the inner pylons, and i saw someone get bugged loadout text with the pods. So hoping that is just a bug and we can get more CM, then it would be alright, kinda like a middle point between the f16aj and the much better F-2.
Speaking of, the F-2 has no HMD historically, right? SO with it not having the best radar anymore do you think it will be DOA? I feel like the aam-3 aam-4 combo will be nice but maybe not enough.

About the Block 50 having worse maneuverability than Block 15...
The best F-16 in that department was/is Block 30. It can still go against anything... F-16s after Block 30 went progressively fatter, because they needed to be able to carry more/heavier weapon systems. They were not the light fighter F-16A was. But..they they don't need to ... Radars/electronics/defence suits make the game after the 2ks.
Now about the plane...they could have used Block 20... But they will need something more to bring in next patches and I think...Japan tree with new sub tree/nation included or even possible to be included is reaching its limit. So it is expected to prolong things to have something to give them the next patches.
Gaijin: we heard that Japan's grind to top tier is bad so we added Thai fighters to make Japan's top tier worth it

even if its not historically accurate, the countermeasures should be brought more in line with the F-16C for the sake of balance
What's historically inaccurate is the F-16A OCU having AMRAAM. It didn't have a compatible radar. It should lose the AMRAAMs and get moved down to 13.0. For AMRAAM-slingers the F-16A ADF and F-16A (e)MLU could be added. The latter being about the same as an F-16C, and the former being air-to-air only.

The F5T is the best F5 in the game, the Alpha Jet TH is a nice subsonic strike, the Gripen is obv good, the F16 just needs its bugged chaff pods, and the Harrier isnt bad at all.
What a weird frankenstein of a F-16 they added, should've just skipped to the MLU version because this OCU doesn't even have the necessary equipment to be firing those AMRAAMs. How is this thing sitting at the same BR as the F-16C and other 13.7 F-16s while it has 50% or even more less CMs, no HMD, worse radar, and way worse ground ordinance.
Kinda feel the same in JF17 now, less countermeasures, less engine power and no HMD. I know JF17 has lower br but 13.3 nowadays really get into uptier, 3/10 in 14.0 and 6/10 in 13.7

try flying the british gripen now at top tier, its horrible, you get shat on by F-15Es in space while you have no chance of getting kills further than 10km because of the R-farters being the worst fox 3 in the game (excl. aim54). Couple that with the cloudy maps, broken multipathing, and the previous fm nerfs, its a pain to fly

The payloads of the f16s never made sense to me why only 6 air to air missiles, I did some research and it mentioned something about weight capacity for the pylons or something even though it can clearly carry 4 AAMs on the outside pylons then 3 maveriks on each inner pylon then bombs on another and still somehow support the weight
First 30 seconds and I could see why this is the biggest pile of shit at top tier lmao, no HMD with 45 CMS is so fucking atrocious. Can't sling off bore to keep your notch going, to actually fire back you have to basically commit and give up on actually living the engagement if they're too close

i dont know how the mig 29 smt can be 13.3 and this not?? the mig is a good bench mark for a aircraft like this similar kit etc but this is higher BR if it got moved down to 13.3 it would have such a better experience

Multipath was better when you had more altitude to work with (100m). A lot of the maps have trees and even 2 story buildings that are 50-60ft tall. Where in the world do 120ft palm trees grow?.

the Dam flair / chaff dispenser is placed soo poorly in game, that not only does it take a ton of chaff to dodge a single missile, but also chaff just randomly does not work
The F14's get The absolutely Worst Ammrams in the entire game yet their forced to fight other ammrams, and its self for higher alt targets, any targets below 5k alt is absolutely going to dodge the missile just by looking in its direction
and the Fucking hud is Worthless, 9km range is sooo Ass That the single missile that can be used at that range, absolutely work's Far better with just its own IR Seaker head, without the Radar assistance
