Every time I open these it’s like a surprise gift of an art activation tour. I smile, I think, I feel and I dream. Thanks for consistently taking me on an visual storytelling journey that makes my life richer
I grew up eight miles from Disneyland. The resort was a second home for thirty years. I now live on the East Coast and visit when I can. While I have my many reservations and disappointments about the management sometimes, I truly appreciate the joy and care you feel for the Park. I thought I knew everything about the place but today you proved me wrong. I hope to see you filming in the Park one day to thank you in person. Thank you for being a friend to those of us who still get homesick for Disneyland.
Late to the party, but this video is the perfect combination of unparalleled Brickey storytelling and park-ripping. No one does it better. Happy Fourth, everyone!
Had to smile when you said re the portals: you make the world small so you can make it big again. Yes! The big reveal. So often used in Disneyland on rides and entrances. A gigantic diorama.
Great video Brickey! Always so impressed with the effort you put into filming your videos. That you don't have a film crew with you but still get the shots that you do is impressive.
Recall also that Walt had deep personal respect and sensitivity to Native American life as it is Lillian’s family background (and they are extremely important to Disney’s life and business).
I remember learning how to do a friendship dance at the Indian Village (the second & permanent one). It was pretty cool. Hmm, Walt let loose running a train. Yep, something that I would've like to see. Very interesting video.
What a stellar video. Thanks especially for this one, but for all you do on your channel. I sat here glued to my seat with a big smile for all the nostalgia …and like others, I too remember the (2nd Gen) Indian Village on my very first visit to the Park oh so long ago with my parents. Now, I’m going back to rewatch this episode one more time! 👍 🇺🇸
Yes it was worth it. Thanks for the Rivers of America history - Interesting, wife and I are now at the stage where we enjoyed the Columbia immensely ! 😀
My first trip to Disneyland was in 1976. I was 6. It was Bicentennial EVERYTHING. If you weren't there, you have no idea. The whole country was nuts for it. I remember really enjoying America Sings, and I'm not sure it was still there on my next trip in the 80's.
Must have been fabulous in the era of entertainers on the Mark Twain. Louis Armstrong! I’ve always thought that bar area in the center of the riverboat must have been way more active then. ;)
Great video! Really enjoyed hearing these stories and imagining what it must have been like. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Great shots, great stories. I was at my aunties house a block away from Kailua Beach on the Bi-Centennial. What a wild day. I think I still have a Bi-Centennial coin. Again, loved this. Cheers 🎉
I absolutely loved that interaction with Jack! You somehow made another video that got me in the Disney feels. Thank you for sharing some Disney history with us!
Hey Brickey, what a neat look back in time you’ve explored here. Man would it have been cool to have those core memories of being at Disneyland on the OG first Fourth of July. Appreciate you sharing these awesome stories about the place we all love!
I grew up on the Ohio too, in Evansville. Heading to Disneyland for the first time next January for the half marathon weekend and looking forward to it! I work in engineering and enjoy the historical context in your videos
I feel like it's difficult to find any information on the Indian Village part of the park. I'm Navajo and my grandfather left the Navajo Nation and lived in Los Angeles to work as a carpenter. He also had a side job of rowing canoes and performing at the Indian Village in the 50's. My family has one photo of him dressed in traditional garments posing with Disneyland visitors. I'm always on the look out for more photos/vidoes of that era hoping to find my grandfather singing or posing with Disneyland goers. Thank you Brickey for shedding some light on the American Indian Village history of Disneyland. Us Indigenous folks appreciate any recognition we can get.
Did anyone notice that there were NO American flags on main street this year during the 4th of July...at all! In the thumbnail for this video, you see how the decorations would normally look on main street. Blows my mind the changes that this company has pulled off at walts original park. I wish fans would say something 😔 I wonder why not 🤔
Fantastic bit of history. Love learning Disney history and appreciate your sharing of knowledge. Made my day
Wonderful video!!! I’m tearing up at the thought of Walt happily driving his big toy around his dream become reality!!! ❤️

The timing with the Columbia was fantastic! Another great video!

Top notch storytelling as always! I’ve really been enjoying your videos lately. Great work!
It means a lot to hear that you're enjoying the videos.
I love the canoes and I love the wheelhouse on the Mark Twain. 🛞Disney is full of magic 🪄 and this video is pretty sweet. Thanks, friend.
Thanks so much!!
Lookin good brickey. This is great
I’m glad I found this channel. Keep it going. Thank you
Awesome to hear you're enjoying the channel! Thanks for the support!
Fun history! Happy 4th of July!🎆
Great video ! Keep up the good work!
My dad and his cousins worked the Indian village and canoes before and after opening. Being brown-skinned Mexicans it was definite typecasting!
Great video, Brickey.

Great video. I learned some stuff, and I worked the Rivers of America attractions for years. 🤠

Thanks friend. Rumor has it all those guest still get together to share the magical jeans they got on that day 😂

Hey Brickey, would you ever do a tour with your subscribers at Disneyland?
Hey Brickey, what a neat look back in time you’ve explored here. Man would it have been cool to have those core memories of being at Disneyland on the OG first Fourth of July. Appreciate you sharing these awesome stories about the place we all love!

Hey there! So cool that we have a similar background. Have a blast at Disneyland in January for the half marathon!
GREAT Video, thanks as always!

Pitching a hoodie in early July with heatwaves everywhere? Maybe a light colored t-shirt instead, or at least in addition to...
Yeah you’re right. It’ll never get cold again.
The canoes are probably the only ride I don’t think I have ever done.
Dude, you gotta hop in a canoe next time - it's a whole different vibe out on the water!
Great video! Will we still get the Mark vs Mark challenge this year?
That will be the grand finale of our 50K party.
I'm sorry to ask this, but where did you get your hat at?
Pretty sure the “males only” canoe operator policy had more to do with upper body strength in evacuation scenarios than deeply seated misogyny.
I call bullshit. If they needed upper body strength, they could have required upper body strength. Instead, they required a penis.
I got into an argument with a Navy officer who believed the canoes where motorized.
That's hilarious! Can you imagine a motorized canoe cruising down a river? 😄
Okay you’re a midwesterner, you a Detroit Tigers fan? The hat looks like the tigers hat.
That's the original Disneyland "D"
@@HeyBrickey okay, very similar to the Detroit tigers! Lol
